GOLDSWORTH PRIMARY SCHOOL www.goldsworthprimary.co.uk Weekly Newsletter – Friday, 7th January 2020

Dear Parents,

It’s been another busy week at school. We started off the week with an assembly about Chinese New Year and have ended the week with a parade in Reception. The children’s dragons and Chinese lanterns looked wonderful!

Year 2 enjoyed a Florence Nightingale workshop on Tuesday, learning lots about what it was like to be a nurse in the Crimea War.

We were lucky to have two class assemblies this week. 4NM’s assembly about the Ancient Greeks was very entertaining with fantastic costumes and two wonderful songs. 5D’s assembly about love left us with plenty to think about. We can all try to use ‘affirmations of love’ every day by being encouraging to one another and finding kind things to say. Perhaps they will have inspired us to spend some more quality time together over the weekend and ‘switch off’ from electronic devices!

Next week we look forward to welcoming you to school on Thursday for our open afternoon (Infants 3-3.30pm and Juniors 3.30-4pm).

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Rinttila Assistant Headteacher

Book of the week

You might be familiar with the Biff, Chip and Kipper characters from Oxford Reading Tree but do you know Ant, Max, Cat and Tiger? These are the main characters in the ‘Project X’ series. We have new books in school for Years 2 and 3 which feature these characters as well as some new non-fiction books. Hope you enjoy reading them!

Message from The Chair of Governors

Firstly as the newly elected chair I would to say that I am excited to be working with our local board and alongside the school leadership team to ensure that Goldsworth can continue to ‘be the best it can be’.

I am delighted to announce that as the only nominee Mr Nick Harpin was successfully elected by default as our new parent Governor.

We have also welcomed two new trust appointed governors to the team, Mr Carl Bowler and Mr Bruce Shepherd who are both looking forward to working with the board and getting to know the school.

Emily Berge
