Kelli Giddish stars as U.S. Marshal Annie Frost, a strong, resourceful, cowboy boot-wearing deputy whose sharp mind and unique Texas upbringing help her track down these violent criminals on the run. Sean’s quest will send ripples through the lives of an ecletic band of strangers, including: newly elected U.S. President Martinez (Underwood); Sophia (Innes), who is the leader of a mysterious group of detainees; and Sean’s shadowy father-in-law (Patterson). Their futures are on a collision course in a global conspiracy that could ultimately change the fate of mankind. When FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Torv) enlisted institutionalized “Fringe” scientist Walter Bishop (Noble) and his jack-of-all-trades son, Peter (Jackson), to help in an investigation that defied human logic, the case was revealed to be one of a series of unusual incidents linked together…and the Fringe team was formed. In season three, additional details of the alternate universe continue to emerge, as the unlikely trio investigates the worlds of Fringe… where there is more than one of everything. When Sarah Braverman (Graham), a financially strapped single mother, returns to her family home she is greeted by her opinionated father, Zeek (Nelson), and strong mother, Camille (Bedelia), who are privately dealing with their own marital issues. As Sarah is reunited with her siblings – sister, Julia (Christensen), and brothers Crosby (Shepard) and Adam (Krause) – all struggling with issues of their own, it’s clear that the Braverman reunion is just what they need to face the everyday challenges of modern family life. Employing the original series; iconic two-part structure that focuses first on the investigation of a crime at the police level and then shifts in its second half to the prosecution of the suspects, Law & Order: UK approaches the format and characters from a uniquely English perspective. CAST Bradley Walsh (Coronation Street) Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) Harriet Walter (Atonement) Ben Daniels (The State Within) Freema Agyeman (Dr Who) Bill Paterson (Little Dorrit) ONE-HOUR DRAMA Murdoch Mysteries Set in 1895 Toronto, Murdoch Mysteries explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch (Bisson), a handsome young detec- tive using radical forensic techniques, like fingerprinting and trace evidence, to solve some of the city’s most gruesome murders. Though his unconventional approach elicits ridicule from fellow officers and skepticism from his boss, Inspector Brackenreid (Craig), Murdoch is often the only one who can crack the case. Murdoch’s small circle of confidantes includes pathologist Julia Ogden (Joy), a staunch ally who shares the detective’s fascination with forensic science, and Constable George Crabtree (Harris), Murdoch’s eager but inexperienced right-hand man.

  • The Musical Number and the Sitcom
ECHO: a music-centered journal www.echo.ucla.edu Volume 5 Issue 1 (Spring 2003) It May Look Like a Living Room…: The Musical Number and the Sitcom By Robin Stilwell Georgetown University 1. They are images firmly established in the common television consciousness of most Americans: Lucy and Ethel stuffing chocolates in their mouths and clothing as they fall hopelessly behind at a confectionary conveyor belt, a sunburned Lucy trying to model a tweed suit, Lucy getting soused on Vitameatavegemin on live television—classic slapstick moments. But what was I Love Lucy about? It was about Lucy trying to “get in the show,” meaning her husband’s nightclub act in the first instance, and, in a pinch, anything else even remotely resembling show business. In The Dick Van Dyke Show, Rob Petrie is also in show business, and though his wife, Laura, shows no real desire to “get in the show,” Mary Tyler Moore is given ample opportunity to display her not-insignificant talent for singing and dancing—as are the other cast members—usually in the Petries’ living room. The idealized family home is transformed into, or rather revealed to be, a space of display and performance. 2. These shows, two of the most enduring situation comedies (“sitcoms”) in American television history, feature musical numbers in many episodes. The musical number in television situation comedy is a perhaps surprisingly prevalent phenomenon. In her introduction to genre studies, Jane Feuer uses the example of Indians in Westerns as the sort of surface element that might belong to a genre, even though not every example of the genre might exhibit that element: not every Western has Indians, but Indians are still paradigmatic of the genre (Feuer, “Genre Study” 139).

  • Megyn Price by Amy Dee Stephens
The Smart, Funny Life of Megyn Price By Amy Dee Stephens On film, Megyn Price plays the smart, funny girl. It comes easily to her, because in real life, she’s smart and funny. This Stanford graduate quit a successful finance career to become a comedy actress; a move that has left her laughing ever since! Currently, Price plays the role of Audrey in the CBS television comedy Rules of Engagement. She describes the working conditions as “an opportunity to act adolescent.” “We’re like a group of teenagers, and it’s really as fun as it looks,” Price said. “It’s supposed to be fun! Look what it is--it’s pretending. That’s my job!” Not only is the on-screen dialogue silly, the cast is notorious for pulling practical jokes on each other—ones that aren’t written into the script. “Once, during shooting, I was supposed to pull a compact from my handbag and powder my nose,” Price said. “Thanks to Patrick Warburton, my little New York City character pulls out a can of Skoal instead. See why it’s pure joy when someone else messes up on the set? It makes me so happy!” Price first broke into television in 1993. Her first audition landed her a role in Quantum Leap. “I’d heard stories about people who’d tried out for four thousand roles before getting cast,” Price said. “So after my reading, I went for a jog. When I got home, I had twenty-five messages on my machine that I’d gotten the job, and I was supposed to go to the wardrobe department at Universal Studios by 5:00 that night and start work tomorrow.

While growing into his new role, the shy and effeminate Ulysses is also dealing with questions about his gender identity. He finds an escape by creating a world of fantasy for himself, filled with glimpses of beauty, dance and music. Ulysses’ journey takes a turn when he encounters a vibrant transgender community, who take him to “Saturday Church,’ a program for LGBTQ youth. For weeks Ulysses manages to keep his two worlds apart; appeasing his Aunt’s desire to see him involved in her Church, while spending time with his new friends, finding out who he truly is and discovering his passion for the NYC ball scene and voguing. When maintaining a double life grows more difficult, Ulysses must find the courage to reveal what he has learned about himself while his fantasies begin to merge with his reality. *** DAMON CARDASIS, DIRECTOR STATEMENT My mother is an Episcopal Priest in The Bronx.

Academic Dishonesty-- What Can he Done? by Kevin R. Convey In a dinner meeting held last week , in Dana dining hall, the Committee on Academic Dishonesty recommended that more precautions be taken by professors* to prevent cheating during exams. The student committee is presently seeking faculty members to work with them in the forma- tion of formal recommendations to be presented to President Strider within the next few weeks.
