Committee Awards There are many people who work very hard to make the symposium happen. We ask your indulgence at our closing ceremonies, whatever they may be, as we pay tribute to these overworked volunteers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Tom Grover Award: Tom Grover was a member of the BYU SF/F community in the 1980s. He spent countless, thankless hours doing whatever needed done, often without being asked. He died in a mountain climbing accident in 1988. In honor of his dedicated service, we give this award to the committee member (often with- out an assigned position) who exemplifies the same attitude of doing whatever is needed. Melva L. Gifford Award: Melva Gifford dedicated many years of her life to helping LTU&E function. She was one of the first committee members and has held just about every committee position. More than once, she has also paid for guests out of her own pocket and donated money for LTU&E. We give this award to those on the committee who give service above and beyond. Jenna Award: Jenna Eatough started gophering when she was in sixth grade. She came back year after year, until she was finally old enough to actually be on the committee. In honor of her years of service, we give this award to the volunteer who shows the same dedication (although you don’t have to wait years to earn it). Committee Choice Award: Every committee member gets to vote for the person they think did an outstanding job. This is our chance to say, “Thank you for a job well done.”.
