Creative approaches in nonformal learning and informal spaces 10-19th October 2008 - Kortrijk, Belgium Another training by ProjectoMayonaise... ProjectoMayonaise vzw (io) is organising this project to point out the importancy of non-formal learning and more particular the creativity in non-formal learning en stimulating learning environments. An important aspect of a learning proces is the informal learning environment. A lot of people, organising (learning) activities, forget about the importancy of informal spaces and the environment of an activity, session or workshop. They plan learning objectives, prepare an activity but don't spend a lot of attention to create a stimulating environment. During the training we go very deep in some insights on groups, creative learning, your position as a facilitator, impact of space and your influence on informal dynamics... During the training we will organise some expressive sessions, sessions about group-dynamics, a tool-fare and sessions about informal learning. Offcourse we will create a wonderfull stimulating space, that will be reconstructed or adjusted by the group of participants during the training. This week we will learn and exchange good-practices and develop and share skills, knowledge and attitudes of participants. On the same time of the training, a local college of social-work (Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen departement HIEPSO) is organising a non-formal training on creativity in social work for their students, called “CREASTAGE”. The participants of the training will be involved in the implementation of some sessions during creastage and will have the chance to try-out some tools to stimulate the informal dynamics of the group. The sessions organised by the group of participants will be very various, but in each creative session there will be time spend on topics like Intercultural learning, creative thinking, expression, Europe, etc... Combined with the learning aims of the high-school (e.g. speaking before an audience, group-dynamics, reflection, creativity, youthwork, emotions and feelings, ...) During the training we will spend attention to the differences and equalities between non-formal and formal learning. And take a deeper look on how we can stimulate the informal processes in different realities... Because the terms non-formal and informal are often mistaken or have different definitions we will spend some time to clear these definitions first and give a basic definition of the 2 terms. Basic of the training will be creativity, experimenting, animation, expression... A fun and deeper way of looking to things...

  • Policy Note July 2020 Provision of Digital Devices
Overview of city measures to respond to the impact of the COVID- 19 pandemic on children Policy note July 2020 The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the functioning of childcare and education systems, as well as on the emotional and psychological health and well-being of children. This paper gives an overview of the policy measures put in place by cities to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children. The overview brings together the information provided by cities during the EUROCITIES Working Group Children and Young People online meeting on 10 July 2020, attended by 40 participants from 27 cities1. Common city policies to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children and young people include: • Provision of digital devices • Food distribution • Leisure activities • Outreach and cooperation • Online counselling • Day care facilities • Needs assessment Provision of digital devices Many cities recognised the need to reduce educational inequalities by making sure that children from low-income families have access to digital devices, equipment and internet to follow lessons online during school closure (in Leeds, Bruges, Oulo, Amsterdam, Ghent). Amsterdam: Provided 6,300 chrome books and 800 Wi-Fi-hotspots, which were distributed among schools. Students could borrow these devices while the schools were closed. There was one laptop available per family. Ghent: Collected and donated refurbished laptops, tablets and smart phones to vulnerable children and young people. The city also opened new Wi-Fi hotspots for families to access. 1 Brussels, Ghent, Kortrijk, Bruges, Vienna, Nicosia, Brno, Tallinn, Oulu, Toulouse, Pau, Munich, Karlsruhe, Milan, Amsterdam, Porto, Guimaraes, Timisoara, Barcelona, Madrid, Terrassa, Malmo, Stockholm, Lausanne, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow and Kharkiv.

GEOLOGICA BELGICA (2017) 20/3-4: 125-159 The composite Kortrijk section (W Belgium): a key reference for mid-Ypresian (Early Eocene) stratigraphy in the southern North Sea Basin Etienne STEURBAUT1 & Chris KING2† 1 Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Operational Directory Earth and History of Life, Vautierstraat 29, B-1000 Brussels and KU Leuven, Belgium; [email protected] 2† Chris King sadly passed away while this paper was in its final stage. It is dedicated to his memory, in recognition of his lifetime achievements in stratigraphy and biostratigraphy and to his great love and fascination for the Ypresian strata of Belgium. ABSTRACT. The upper part of the Kortrijk Clay Formation (the Roubaix Clay and Aalbeke Clay Members of mid-Ypresian age) has been exposed in road and canal cuttings and clay quarries in the Kortrijk area (western Belgium), and penetrated by several cored boreholes. It is overlain disconformably by the Mont-Panisel Sand Member of the Hyon Sand Formation (upper middle Ypresian). The Roubaix Clay Member contains diverse and well-preserved calcareous nannofossils, dinoflagellate cysts, foraminifera, ostracods and other calcitic microfossils, and less well-preserved mollusc assemblages, while the Aalbeke Clay Member is secondarily decalcified. The calcareous nannofossil subdivision of upper NP11 and lower NP12 has been recognised in the Kortrijk area, and calibrated with the NW European mid-Ypresian dinoflagellate cyst, ostracod and planktonic foraminiferal zones and datums (e.g. Subbotina influx). Several medium-scale depositional sequences, with an estimated duration of 400 kyr or less, have been recorded. Their respective boundaries coincide with the resistivity maxima identified on the majority of the wireline log profiles of the Belgian Ypresian.

THE HISTORIC CITY HALL OF KORTRIJK A rich past HISTORIC KORTRIJK CITY HALL A RICH PAST The historic Kortrijk city hall can be found on the Grote Markt, between Leiestraat and Rijselsestraat. The façade is lavishly decorated and testifies to a fascinating past, as does the interior. The building exudes quality, stateliness and authority. But do not be deceived, it also contains playful winks, visible to the observant visitor: a reckless crusader, a mysterious measuring rod, a pseudo-countess and a naive poet, mocked for his courting. Curious? Paradise Kortrijk 2021 is the successor to Play Kortrijk 2018, the interactive art event that transformed the city of Kortrijk three years ago into a playground of contemporary artworks at various indoor and outdoor locations in the city, and which was a real success with more than 175,000 visitors. The second edition maintains the recipe for success - a dynamic and free urban exhibition with interactive works of art by an ambitious list of Belgian and international artists in various indoor and outdoor locations in the city of Kortrijk - and focuses on the utopian dream of paradise. The project draws inspiration from our zeitgeist and is a reaction to our current living environment, which sometimes seems miles away from a hopeful, positive and utopian environment. “Our arts festival Paradise will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to Kortrijk. As alderman for culture, I am convinced that we really have a bazooka here, one that will give our trade and hospitality industry new perspectives. It is the second edition of our triennial. Play, the first one, was a hit.
