Medical Emergency Distribution System - Point of Dispensing (POD) OPERATIONS Triage Worker (Forms Review / Screening) Job Action Sheet MISSION: RESPONSIBLE FOR EITHER DRUG/VACCINE SELECTION FOR INDIVIDUAL PATIENTS OR TRIAGE TO MEDICAL EVALUATION AREA PER PROTOCOLS AND ALGORITHMS AT LEAST 1 OUT OF EVERY 3 WORKERS IN THIS AREA WILL BE A RI-LICENSED HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL REPORTS TO: TRIAGE & SCREENING STRIKE TEAM LEADER SUPERVISES: NONE EQUIPMENT: IDENTIFICATION VEST; DRUG SELECTION ALGORITHMS; MEDICATION ALLERGY CHART; PENS; PATIENT HISTORY FORMS (REGISTRATION FORMS) POD ACTIVATION POD OPERATIONS POD DEMOBILIZATION Familiarize with POD location, flow and Interview patients utilizing the patient Collect clipboards in appropriate all POD functions at least 1 hour before history form (registration form) containers staff is expected to arrive. Fill out any missing information on the Disinfect tables periodically Read this entire JAS and don ICS vest and patient history form, with input from the Clean-up station proper identification patient Attend hotwash Make initial communication with triage & Briefly reassess patients to rule out acute screening strike team leader illness and refer to Medical Evaluation Area if needed Assist with set-up of triage area Make antibiotic/vaccine selection based Familiarize yourself with the patient on drug selection algorithm and clearly history form (registration form) and circle appropriate choice on patient medical countermeasure selection history form algorithms, as well as disease and drug/vaccine information sheets Refer to patient history form (registration form) if you are unsure of Review instructions for compounding, and appropriate antibiotic choice become familiar with the dispensing process regarding labeling and patient Have patients sign form if antibiotic or flow through the POD vaccine treatment is refused Attend staff meeting with Triage Area Direct patients to Express Dispensing Personnel to review procedures of the Area if antibiotic/vaccine selected was the POD and the drug selection algorithm and primary drug the procedures for selecting the Direct patients to Assisted Dispensing appropriate antibiotic Area if secondary antibiotic was selected or patients need a liquid or compounded formulation Keep families together by sending to Assisted Dispensing Area if children need a liquid antibiotic formulation or any family member needs the secondary antibiotic.
