This year, as a result of improvements we have made to the conference agenda, we are delightful to welcome over 100 airline participants. We invite you to take advantage of the many networking opportunities available between suppliers and airline representatives during the conference. In addition, this year’s agenda features even more panel discussions and interactive presentations in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas and trends, debate issues and challenges, and gather knowledge during this three-day experience. Thank you to our numerous sponsors, exhibitors, and table top participants for your support in making this conference a success year after year. I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce ALTA’s 2017 expanded CCMA & Aircraft MRO Yearbook, which we have enhanced this year to include useful information about the industry in our region. Over the last year, we have all continued to collaborate with industry partners, governments, and the communities we serve in promoting a safer, more efficient and environmentally friendly air transport industry in the region. Aviation is a vital engine spurring social and economic connectivity and prosperity throughout the Latin America and Caribbean region. From tourism, transportation of cargo and humanitarian aid to job and business creation and expansion, the aviation industry drives substantial social and economic development of our communities well beyond flying from point A to point B. In 2016, Latin America and Caribbean airlines: • Transported 263 million passengers • Operated more than 2 million flights • Increased their fleet to more than 2,000 aircraft • Started services on 60 new routes • Contributed to job creation by other industries Despite the challenging economic environment in the region, during the last 10 years the Latin America and Caribbean air transport industry has continued to thrive. We have experienced sustained growth, including the doubling of passenger traffic and aircraft fleet. And we stand firm in estimating that, even with Brazil’s current dip, we are on track to once again double the number of passengers and aircraft over the next 10 to 15 years. This expansion will create even more jobs, further economic development, and opportunities for all. Thank you for joining us. On behalf of the ALTA team, I welcome you and invite you to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your participation at this conference more enjoyable and productive. Enjoy your experience at the 2017 ALTA CCMA & Aircraft MRO Conference!
