Re-opening Planning SMES

1. Entry in the building- a. Our bus riders will enter the main entrance beginning at 8:00 AM. Temperature checks will be administered as students exit the bus. b. Student drop-offs and student walkers will enter the main entrance beginning at 8:00 AM. Temperature checks will be administered as students exit the car.

2. Morning Holding Areas a. There will be no morning holding area as students with either report directly to their classroom beginning at 8:00 AM or report to the cafeteria to pick up their bagged breakfast to take to the classroom.

3. Hall Passage a. Students will be instructed to walk on the right-hand side of the hall at all times (their right). Appropriate signage (Huskies Stay on the Path) will be in place to guide students. b. Face masks will be required during hall passage in all common areas c. Water bottle filling capabilities will be installed for student use throughout the day. Every student is encouraged to bring a water bottle to school. Bottles will be provided to those students who are unable to bring one from home. Students will transport the container to/from school daily to allow families ability to clean at the conclusion of each school day.

4. Classroom Spacing a. Students will sit in rows facing the same direction. Desks will be spaced 6 feet apart to meet social distancing requirements that permit students to remove their masks/face protection when at a classroom work desk or work station and maintaining 6 feet of social distance.

5. Serving Lunch/Breakfast a. Social distancing will be done to the maximum extent possible. Table markings (One Husky Eats Here) will identify appropriate spacing for students during their lunch period. b. Hand sanitizing stations will be installed so students can sanitize their hands before entering the food distribution area c. Students will be spaced 3-6 feet apart while waiting in line (floor decals will be used to mark the appropriate distances).

6. Recess a. Students will have daily recess with their class/teacher. b. There will be designated areas for recess to maximize social distancing requirements. Classes will rotate through each designated area throughout the six-day cycle. Each class will be assigned their own equipment. All equipment will be sanitized daily.

7. Dismissal a. Student pickups and walkers will be dismissed at 2:35 p.m. b. Bus dismissal will begin at approximately 2:40.
