Adobe Indesign Introduction to Digital Humanities
Platform Study Adobe InDesign Introduction to Digital Humanities 2015 Matt Higgins Design is mind control. Introduction Modernist designers sought to find universal concepts within design. They wanted to know how visual elements affected human beings on a psychological level. This is why the works of Modernists such as Josef Müller-Brockmann, El Lissitzky, and Jan Tschichold, feature basic colors and shapes. They believed stripping design down to its most basic elements would remove any sentiment or bias that certain visuals could produce and allow for an objective study on how humans are affected by design. There have been countless movements like Modernism. They have invariably found their way into design. Many of those movements would reject the principles of Modernism and their universals. But it is plain to see, regardless of philosophy or ideology, that design affects human beings. If it did not, why would we continue designing? The nature of graphic design has always been to communicate. To affect people. Fresh Dialogue Sagmeister & Walsh This differentiates it from traditional fine arts. Certainly a We can think of design in terms of verbal conversation. What painting can communicate. The medium only matters in how it words are spoken is just as important as how the words are relates to the relaying of the message. But we tend to think of spoken. Then we take into account body language. From there fine art as a form of self expression. The artists is much more we can list a whole host of factors beyond the words spoken that involved in the work. -
Digital Still Camera Image File Format Standard
Digital Still Camera Image File Format Standard (Exchangeable image file format for Digital Still Cameras: Exif) Version 2.1 June 12, 1998 Japan Electronic Industry Development Association (JEIDA) This standard makes no warranty, express or implied, with respect to the use of any intellectual property, such as patents, copyrights and trademarks, belonging to any corporation or individual. Nor does this standard make any warranty regarding system reliability or product liability. Windows™ is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and elsewhere. FlashPix™ is a registered trademark of Eastman Kodak Company. Revision History This "Digital Still Camera Image File Format Standard" is issued as a standard for the image file format (Exif: Exchangeable image file format) used in digital still cameras and related systems. It was first published in October 1996 as Version 1.0i. Then in May 1997, Version 1.1ii was issued, adding specifications for optional attribute information as well as stipulations relating to format implementation, in addition to the mandatory specifications of Version 1.0. The desire for a uniform file format standard for the image data stored by digital still cameras has increased as these cameras have grown in popularity. At the same time, with the broadening application of this technology, a similar desire has arisen for uniformity of the attribute information that can be recorded in a file. The Version 2.0iii makes improvements to the Exif format for greater ease of use, while allowing for backward compatibility with products of manufacturers currently implementing Exif Version 1.x or considering its future implementation. -

14. Using Your Own Images
Cricut Design Space User Manual 14. Using your own images D. Preparing artwork from CorelDRAW Cricut Design Space™ lets you upload most .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .svg, and .dxf images and convert them into cuttable shapes. The tool doesn’t allow you to make modifications to the design itself, which is why working with CorelDRAW to prepare your files is effective. With CorelDRAW, you can use the full range of tools to create and modify your designs, and then upload them to Cricut Design Space. The two different types of images are Basic and Vector. CorelDRAW is primarily a vector program, which means it saves vector files like .svg and .dxf, but it can also save .jpg, .png, and .bmp files. Artwork created in CorelDRAW can be used to: (1) Print the image on your home printer and cut it out using your Cricut® machine with the Print then Cut feature. (2) Cut or draw the outline of the image. Page | 1 Cricut Design Space User Manual (3) Create cuttable shapes and images. Multilayer images will be separated into layers on the Canvas. Tip: Multilayer images can be flattened into a single layer in Cricut Design Space. Use the Flatten tool to turn any multilayer image into a single layer that can be used with Print then Cut. Page | 2 Cricut Design Space User Manual Preparing artwork The following steps use CorelDRAW X8. Although the screenshots will be different in older versions, the process is the same. Vector files .dxf and .svg Step 1 Create or modify an image using any of the CorelDRAW tools. -

Composition and Construction of Embedded Software Families
Composition and Construction of Embedded Software Families Dissertation zur Erlangung des akademischen Grades Doktoringenieur (Dr. Ing.) angenommen durch die Fakultät für Informatik der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg von Dipl.-Inform. Danilo Beuche geb. am 2.12.1968 in Nauen Gutachter: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schröder-Preikschat Prof. Dr. Reiner Dumke Prof. Dr. Jörg Nolte Promotionskolloquium: Magdeburg, den 19. Dezember 2003 Acknowledgements Finishing this dissertation would have been impossible without the help of many persons. I would like to express my gratitude to all of them. However, it is impossible to name all of my voluntary and sometimes involuntary helpers. My special thanks go to Wolfgang Schröder-Preikschat who gave me opportunity and room to develop my own ideas. His research group at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg was the perfect place for me and my research project. Beside my advisor I have to thank my colleagues Guido Domnick, Andreas Gal, Jens Lauterbach, André Maaß, Daniel Mahren- holz, and Michael Schulze from this group. They frequently had to use the Consul program which is a substantial result of this thesis. I am grateful that they kept sending bug reports instead of deleting it from the disk right away when it still did not work as expected after the “final” bug fix. Olaf and Ute Spinczyk, who were my first colleagues in the group, had not only to live with my chaos for about five years, they also were first time readers of my drafts. Their comments and also their believe in this work were invaluable. Frank Behrens, who always tried to motivate me, is hopefully pleased with the result of his efforts. -
