1953 - 2003 weston woods® elebrating CC 50 Years of Bringing Books to Life n a little log cabin in the back woods of Weston, Connecticut, IMorton Schindel became fascinated with picture books while reading to his children. He wanted to do more than read these books though; he wanted to bring them to life. At that time, the idea of animating children’s books was unknown. But his interest became a dream that became a company and Weston Woods Studios was born. ince 1953, Weston Woods Studios has produced more than 500 films Sand filmstrips and given many thousands of children a new and exciting view of the picture books they love. For 50 years, we have demonstrated that faithful picture book adaptations succeed in whetting children’s appetites for turning and returning to the books on which they are based, helping children to develop a lifelong love of reading and literature. Thanks to all of you for helping make Weston Woods synonymous with quality, caring, and the best for children! n nnnnnnnnn nnn1n954 nnnnn nnnn nnn nnn nnnn nnn nnn nn nnn nnn Contract for nnn nnn nnn nnn the first production n n nn nn nn nn ANDY AND THE LION n nn nn n nn nn based on the Caldecott nn nn n nn nn nn Honor Book nn nn nn nnn nn nn nnn by James nn nn nnn nn nn nnn nn nn n n n n n n n n nnnn Daugherty nn nn nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn1nn953nnnnnn nn nnn nnn is signed nnn nn nn nnnn nnnn nnn nnn1nn956nnnnnnnnnnnnnn First public screening of Weston Woods films at the Museum of Modern Art in New York NY Morton Schindel founder of Weston Woods sets up shop in the wilderness of Weston CT n n n n nn1nnn956nnnnnnnnnnnnnn n 1nn964nnnnnnnnnnnnn Robert McCloskey n nnnnn nnn n nnnnn nnn nnnn nnnn nnnn nnn nnn nnn Ezra Jack Keats nnn nnn nn nnn nn nn nn n nn nnn nn nnn nnnn nn nnn nnn nnn nn nn nnnnn n nnn nn nn nnnnnnn n n n n n n nnnn nn nn nnn1nn964nnnnnnnnnnnn nnn nn nnn nnn nnn nnnn nnn1nn963nnnnnnnnnnnnn Weston Woods produces the Weston Woods country’s first releases its first liveaction film TV Broadcast animated pro Premiere of Weston Woods based on a duction – THE produces children’s book Weston Woods SNOWY DAY, productions on documentary for – THE DOUGH- based on the the American NUTS (from CBS’s Captain Caldecott Kangaroo Library Association Homer Price) Medal Book by – THE LIVELY ART by Robert Ezra Jack Keats OF PICTURE McCloskey BOOKS 1953 - 2003 nnnnnnnn n nnnnn1nn975nnnnnn nnn nnnn n nn nnn nnnnn1n968nnnnnnnnn n nnnn nnn nnn nnnnnnnn nnn nn nnnn nnn nnn nn nnn nnnnn nnn nn nnn nnnn nn nn nn nnn nnn nn nn nnn nnnn nnn nn n nn nnn nnnn nnnn nnn nnnn nnnnn nn nnnnnn n nnnnnn nnnn nnnn1nn972nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Weston Woods begins Weston Woods collaboration with prin opens Canadian cipal animator Gene office Manager Deitch who directed Betty Janes was DRUMMER HOFF frequently assisted based on the Caldecott Weston Woods opens by husband Medal Book by its first international Allen Janes Barbara & Ed Emberley office Henleyon in his studio in Thames UK Czechoslovakia with wife Zdenka Deitchova n n nnnnnnnnn n n nnnn1nn988n nnnnnn nnnnn nn n nnn nnnn n nn n nnnn nnn n1n985nnnnnnnn n nnn nnnn nnnnnnnn nnn n nnnn nnnnnnn n nnn nn nnn nnnnnn nnnn nnn nnn nnnnnn nnn nnn nnnn nnnnnnn n n n nnn nnn nnn nnnn1nn986nnnnnnnnnn nnn nnnn nnn nnn nnnnn nnnn n1nn977nnnnnnnnnnnnnn DOCTOR DE SOTO based on the Morton Schindel Weston Woods Newbery Honor and Weston opens Book by William Woods inducted Australian Steig nominated into the Action office for an Academy for Children’s Award Television Hall of Fame for "using First Weston Woods TV and home titles released to the video to lead home video market children to the under the name magic world © Children’s Circle of books" William Steig n nnnnn n nnnn2nn000nnnnn n n nnnnnnnn n nnnn nn n nnnnn1n996nnnnnnn nnn nn nnnn nnnnn nnnn nn nn nn n nn nnn nnnnn nn nnn Paul Gagne nn nnn nnnn nn nn n nnn nnn nnnn nnnn wins third nnn nnn n nn nnnn nnn nn nn nnnn nnnnn n n nnnnnn nnn nnn nn1n999nnnnnn Carnegie nnn nnnnn nn n n nnnn Medal for nnnn n n nnnn Paul Gagne 1n996nnnnnnnnnnn Weston Woods ANTARCTIC Director of purchased by ANTICS based Paul Gagne Production Production Scholastic Inc on the book Manager is awarded wins second the Carnegie Medal for Carnegie by Judy Sierra illustrated by Excellence in Children’s Medal for Jose Aruego & MISS NELSON Video by the American Ariane Dewey Library Services HAS A FIELD DAY, based on for Children Left: Richard Robinson the book by Division of CEO of Scholastic Inc Right: Morton Schindel James Marshall the American founder of Weston Woods Library Association for OWEN based on the Caldecott Honor book by Kevin Henkes n2002n nnnnnnn n nnnnnnnn nnnnnnnn nnnnnn nnnnn nnnnnn nnnn n n nnn nnnn nn n nn nnn nnn nnnn nnn nnn nnn nnn nnn nnn nnn nnn nn nnnn nnn nnnnn nnn nnnn n nnnn nnn nnnnn n n nnn nnn nnn2001nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn nnn nnn nnnn nnnn n nnnnn2003nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn The Scholastic Video Collection™ Paul Gagne wins produced by Weston Woods is his fourth Carnegie released to the home market Medal along with Melissa Reilly ...wonderful storytelling with Producer for SO excellent“ integration of music, story YOU WANT TO BE Weston Woods and video.
