Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) Trivandrum is the sea-side capital of Kerala. It is surrounded by numerous hills and hillocks on which stand buildings and parks. Thiruvananthapuram i.e. Trivandrum literally means the place of sacred snake, Anant. Trivandrum is a city of magnificent buildings of ancient and modern architecture. Bangalore Located 1000m above sea level, the capital of the state of Karnataka, Bangalore, is a vibrant cosmopolitan city, a major industrial and commercial centre of the country.The city was founded by Kempe Gowda in the early 16th century. Two centuries later, it became an important fortress city under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Bangalore is known as the Silicon Valley of the country, the nerve - centre of India's software industry. A well - planned city, with tree - lined avenues, a large number of parks, gardens and lakes, Bangalore is aptly called India's garden city. The city attracts people in large numbers, from all over the country, and abroad, who come to look for better job opportunities, and higher education. Surprisingly, all this frantic industrial expansion and increase in the population, has not robbed Bangalore of its essential old-world appeal. It is, in the true sense, a very 'happening' city. The Vidhana Soudha is one of the most splendid architectural creations, India can boast of. Located at the north - west end of Cubbon Park, it is a granite structure built in the neo - Dravidian style of architecture. The Cubbon Park, laid out in 1864, a brainchild of the British, covers an area of 300 acres. Within its premises are the Public Library, the High Court, the Government Museum and the Visveswaraiah Technological & Industrial Museum. The Attara Kacheri, as the High Court building is known in these parts, was built in 1864.35 km from Bangalore, at Hesaraghatta, is the famous Nritya Gram, a centre for dance that imparts extensive training in seven dance disciplines and two martial art forms, to residential students. Bangalore is well connected to all the major cities of the country, by air, rail and road. Ooty Ooty This queen of hill stations is in the Nilgiri Mountain ranges in Tamil Nadu. The main attraction of Ooty is; Botanical Garden. The numerous varieties of ornamental trees and plants are attractions for all tourists visiting Ooty. Ooty Lake is of major interest for all the tourists visiting Ooty and they spend more time near the lake than at any other place. A mini children's train is an added attraction near the lake. A micro telescope has been installed here. Kodanand view point, St. Catherine Falls and Elk falls are worth seeing. Kalhatti Falls is lovely picnic spot 13 km from Ooty. Kukurthi Peak peak is 2600 meters above the sea level. Sim's Park: this is noted for its variety of plants, shrubs and flowers. Dolphin's Nose is a ideal picnic spot is 12 km from Ooty. Loz Falls is a lovely cascade situated 7 km from Coonoor. Mysore Mysore The Mysore of legend takes its name from a famous demon called Mahishasur , a great warrior who ruled as a tyrant until he was killed by goddess Chamundeshwari.Mysore a prolific city of South India. Wodyyar Dynasty the royal family of Mysore has built much of the Mysore we see today and a portion of the city's most famous landmark , the imposing Royal Palace . The Palace stands on the foundations of an earlier Palace gutted by fire in 1897. The most magnificent room is the Durbar Hall , particularly splendid during the Dussehra festival when the maharaja's jewel - studded gold throne weighting 200 kilograms is on display.Other places include Jaganmohan Palace . Built in 1861 , Part of it was shortly afterward converted into the Sri Chamarajendra Art Gallery. 13 Kms from Mysore is Chamundi Hill which bring you to the temple of the Chamundeshwari. About halfway up is a huge granite monolith of Nandi, Shiva's divine bull. Kodaikanal Kodaikanal Located at the southern tip of the upper Palanimalai Hill, this beautiful hill station is one of the very famous tourist places in south India.The center of attraction here is the star-shaped Lake with greenery all around. The Vimal Vasahi temple is the oldest of these dedicated to the first Tirthankara. Adhar Devi Temple: The temple is chiseled out of a huge rock reached by a flight of 360 stairs. A favourite tourist spot. Nakki Lake: Legend has that this small lake, was scooped out by a god using only his nails(or nakh).The lake is surroundedby hills , parks and strange rock formations. Mount Abu is situated at a distance of 292km and 5 hours from Udaipur. By Air: Udaipur is the nearest airport. Daily flight form Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur are available to Udaipur.By By By Bus Rajasthan Roadways run very comfortable deluxe buses from Jaipur and Abu Road to Maunt Abu. It is also connected by road to Delhi, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bundi and Udaipur. By Train Abu Road is the nearest railway station and is about 22 kms from Mount Abu. And well connected by Ahemdabad, Jaipur, Mumbai and Jodhpur. Udaipur Udaipur is built around Pichola lake which contains 2 island palaces, Jagmandir and Jagniwas which today is a luxury hotel and some episodes from the movie Octopussy were filmed in this palace. The movie can be watched in some restaurants in the city. The City Palace contains a museum and it's recommended to take the tour in the museum and more luxury hotels. There are trains to Jaipur (10/ hours & 405km.) and Delhi (13-14 hours) and buses to all the major cities in Rajesthan and to Delhi. Jaipur Jaipur is the capital city of Rajesthan also known as the pink city because of the hue of its old buildings which is pink ochre. In the City Palace you can see a collection of Indian weapons. The royal costumes of the Maharajas and collection of Indian Miniature paintings, which similar to the original are sold everywhere near the City palace. Also you can see the architecture. Near by is also the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) The palace built to enabled the women who lived inside city palace to look behind the windows to see the street, this palace is part of the City palace. Jaipur is the best place to watch an Indian movie, since Raj Mandir is biggest cinema in Asia and very luxury. From Delhi there's an express train that in 4 hours you can get to Jaipur, the ordinary train takes 6 hours and it's much cheaper. Jaipur is barely 258 kilometers and 5 1/2hours from New Delhi Jodhpur: This bustling desert city is the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur and has landscape dominated by the massive Meherangarh Fort topping a sheer rocky ridge. The old city is fenced by 10 km long wall with eight Gates leading out of it.
