The Godolphin homebred >TDN Rising Star= is undefeated in three starts to date, including the July 14 G2 Superlative S. and the Sept. 16 G1 National S. when last seen. He was one of the leading fancies for the first British Classic of the season, which will take place over Newmarket=s Rowley Mile on May 4. AUnfortunately Quorto has suffered a soft tissue injury in training in Dubai which will mean he will have to miss the 2000 Guineas,@ said trainer Charlie Appleby. "It's a real shame as we had high hopes for him this year. We'll know more when he's scanned for a second time in a couple of weeks. It's too early to say when he could be back in action but we've been here before with these injuries and we'll see how he recovers." Altior & Nico de Boinville | Racing Post by Emma Berry CHELTENHAM, UKCIt takes a great horse to win championship races, but it takes a true champion to fight his way back for glory just as it looks as if he is beaten. At Cheltenham on Wednesday, the remarkable Altior (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}) claimed not just his second G1 Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase but his fourth win at the Festival and his 18th consecutive victory to equal the winning streak of one of the track's great heroes, Big Buck's (Fr) (Cadoudal {Fr}).

THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2019 He continued, AIn 2018, we sold 87 horses for equal to or less CLEARANCE RATE than $50,000 and we sold 117 this year [at that level]. We were happy to see that--horses got sold at all levels. On the other end, IMPROVES AS OBS MARCH we had two horses that brought over $800,000 and this year we had six, so there was growth on both ends. We felt really good CONCLUDES about that.@ Year-to-year comparisons are somewhat inexact due to last year=s statistics factoring in post-sale transactions further past the conclusion of the sale and the 2019 stats subject to change for the same reason, but the cumulative average and median were both down for 2019. A large factor in the dips, however, was a much-improved clearance rate. Based on current figures, the average dropped 12.6% to $143,762 from $164,494 and the median dipped 23.8% from $105,000 to $80,000, but the RNA rate this time around was just 23.1% compared to 29.2% 12 months ago and can only drop further after additional post-sale transactions are recorded. • Cheltenham Festival Guide 2021 Daniel Watkins
Cheltenham Festival Guide 2021 Daniel Watkins www.lapoftheodds.com Cheltenham Festival Guide 2021 Introduction The annual quest for winners sees me routinely holed up in a back bedroom, hunched over a keyboard and monitor for interminable weeks on end, hardly seeing a soul and rarely out of my pyjamas. What was a nerdy niche is now pretty much the working mainstream. Welcome to my world, one and all… With such trying external circumstances, and so little to look forward to in the short term, it seems that the pull of the Cheltenham Festival has grown exponentially greater again this year. This humble guide started for a few friends in 2004 and is now in edition number 18. If you are looking for views and predictions, they are now myriad over social media. There are some very insightful nuggets amongst the deafening cacophony of “this can’t be beaten” over-confidence. It is great to see such interest stimulated, and whilst hearing many views has the dangers of being dragged towards consensus (and there’s rarely profit there), it also helps temper the unfounded runaway confidence that can come from being in too much of a bubble. Thanks as always to the long-suffering Tanya, whose annual support for my selfish Springtime obsession is only partly offset by the knowledge that she is my obsession throughout the year. No-one should have had to witness the petulant tantrums when the Novice handicap chase was dropped for the mares chase, and I can only plead forgiveness!! Please stay in touch by subscribing, following or liking my blog, Lap of The Odds (www.lapoftheodds.com), and watch for daily articles during festival week, where non-runners and weather may result in some changes to selections.
