Cemetery and Crematorium Records Finding Aid Falkirk Archives (Archon Code: GB558) FALKIRK ARCHIVES Local authority records Cemetery and Crematorium Records Finding Aid In the past, burial grounds have been operated by a range of different local authorities as well as by churches. This list brings together all the records relating to burial grounds regardless of which authority operated them at any particular time. The information about individual burial grounds can also be found in the appropriate burgh, parish or church finding aids. The Data Protection Act, 1998, restricts access to personal information about living individuals. This means that Lair records which contain personal data about the living individuals who purchased the lairs are closed to general public for 75 years following the last date in the record. Burial registers and other related records are open without any restriction. Please note that additional records may have been added since this finding aid was compiled. Calatria, the Journal of the Falkirk Local History Society has published a series of articles with monumental inscriptions listed for various local churchyards. These are available from members of the Falkirk Local History Society or via Falkirk Archives.
