Ken Follett, the Renowned Author Whose Novels Have Topped Best Seller Lists in the US As Well As Internationally
>> This is Matt Raymond at the Library of Congress. For the past nine years, book lovers of all ages have gathered in Washington DC to celebrate reading at the Library of Congress's National Book Festival. This year, the Library is proud to commemorate a decade of words and wonder at the tenth annual National Book Festival on September twenty fifth, 2010. President and Missus Obama are honorary chairs of the event, which provides DC locals and visitors from across the country and around the world the opportunity to see and meet their favorite authors, illustrators, and poets. The festival is free and open to the public. It's held between third and seventh streets from 10 am to 5 30 pm rain or shine. And joining me now is Ken Follett, the renowned author whose novels have topped best seller lists in the US as well as internationally. His latest work, Fall of Giants, comes out on September twenty eighth, just a few days after the National Book Festival. It's the first book of the Century Trilogy, a series that will chronicle twentieth century history through the stories of five families. While some have deemed the Century Trilogy to be Follett's most ambitious project to date, his prior work has been both prolific and wildly popular. He's perhaps most well known for his novel, Pillars of the Earth. Several of his books have been adapted for both the big and the small screens. Mister Follett, it's a pleasure to have you with us today. >> Thanks for having me on the show. -

AUSTRALIA OCTOBER 2019 The Night Fire: A Ballard and Bosch Thriller Michael Connelly Harry Bosch and LAPD Detective Renee Ballard come together again on the murder case that obsessed Bosch's mentor, the man who trained him to be a homicide detective - new from #1 bestselling author Michael Connelly. Description Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, J.J. Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals. Bosch brings the murder book to Renee Ballard and asks her to help him find what about the case lit Thompson's fire all those years ago. That will be their starting point. The bond between Bosch and Ballard tightens as they become a formidable investigation team. And they soon arrive at a worrying question: Did Thompson steal the murder book to work the case in retirement, or to make sure it never got solved? Venice Production Bridge Pascal Diot We never know whether a new concept would deal with people’s demands and thus we were Savina Neirotti more than happy when, after the first edition of last year, we received the publishers’ feedbacks. [email protected] www.labiennale.org It was the first time for them that, rather than focusing on one book, they were able to present their entire catalogues and, above all, they had the time to have in-depth conversations with the producers. Fostering long term relationship between them was our aim and we achieved it. Consequently, we decided to increase the number of publishers to 19 and to expand it beyond the European borders. This year, publishers from USA and Japan have joined our French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Dutch, Belgian, English and German established publishing companies. We thank all those publishers who are presenting an incredibly wide range of novels, drama, children’s literature, genre fiction, short stories, comics, mangas, graphic novels, essays… suitable for cinema and audiovisual adaptations. -
