Governor’s Welcome
Florida and Cayman Island Key Clubbers,
Can you believe another service year has already flown by? It has been an inconceivable honor to serve as your District Governor for the 2017 -2018 term, and it is with absolute pleasure that I welcome you to our 80th District Education and Leadership Conference.
DCON is an occasion for training, recognition, education, and, perhaps most importantly, celebration! From enrapturing speakers, to engaging workshops, to esteemed awards, to exemplary scholarships, to electing the subsequent leaders of our district, I am positive that this weekend will be an unforgettable experience that will leave you in- spired, enlightened, and desiring more, whether it be your first confer- ence or final one.
This year’s District Education and Leadership Conference is a very special one for all of us. Thank you for joining us in Celebrating 80 Years of Key Service as the oldest district in all of Key Club International. We are truly fortunate to be a part of the Mighty, Mighty Florida District and host one of the largest conferences in all of Key Club International with nearly 2,200 attendees, making it my sincere hope that you depart this weekend with some newfound friends.
Thank you again for all of the service you have done this year. Whether it be for The Eliminate Project, The HEALTH Project, or another initiative, every life that you have touched has made a genuine difference. Have a wondrous, celebratory weekend and remainder of the school year! Yours in service, passion, and love,
Felanté Charlemagne

Hello Celebrators!

Your 2017-2018 District Board has put in countless hours to ensure the success and enjoyment of this event. We have a lot of sessions in store for you this weekend including but not limited to the: Circle K Pool Party, Service Fair, Awards Ceremony, Talent Show and so much more I couldn’t list them on this page. I am also pleased to announce that we have some amazing and inspirational people in our presence this weekend like our Key Club International President William Sims, Key Club International Trustee Jared Dutko and who could forget our Keynote Speaker Erin Fischer. Lastly, please remember that there are other guests and conferences at this hotel. Be sure to follow all rules and regulations outlined in the Code of Conduct that you signed before coming to DCON and act how a true Key Clubber would. I know you all will enjoy this conference and learn valuable things to take back to your home clubs. Have a fantastic celebratory weekend and don’t be shy!

International Trustee Welcome
Hello Florida District! Welcome to this, your 80th Annual District Education and Leadership Conference! Whether this is your first time attending, last time attending, or both, I hope that you will take advantage of the incredible opportunities offered to you this weekend. During your time in Orlando, you will be given the chance to hear em- powering speakers, elect your new district leaders, as well as to attend enriching workshops. Through these experiences you’ll gain a better understanding of Key Club and your own leadership abili- ties. I can’t wait to spend my weekend celebrating you and all of your successes! You will undoubtedly be surprised at how fast the confer- ence goes by. Hopefully you’ll be leaving with more friends, more knowledge of Key Club, and a better insight into your personal leadership style. If you’re an underclassmen, I encourage you to hold these memories close before you know it, you’ll be attending your final DCON; take a lot of photos, and most of all, enjoy your- self! Serving as the Florida District’s International Trustee has been the honor of my lifetime. I feel incredibly fortunate to work with such an incredible district with equally incredible leaders. Your dis- trict board has put an immense amount of time and effort into making this conference as enjoyable as possible for you all, so if you see a board member this weekend, I encourage you to stop them to say “hello” and tell them how much fun you’re having! Finally, if you see me throughout the conference, please don’t hesitate to say “hi”, it’s my goal to make as many new friends as possible! Have a great weekend, and I hope to see you this Sum- mer for International Convention in my favorite city and my home state- Chicago, Illinois! Yours in Service, Passion, and Friendship, Jared Dutko

International President Welcome
Hello Florida District! .
Serving as your International President this year has truly been amazing. The opportunity to travel throughout the world and other parts of Key Club International has been an incredible journey, and one I will never forget. Leading a board composed of not only the finest student leaders, but also the finest people one could ever hope to meet, has created friendships that will last a lifetime. Learning about and participating in service projects throughout the world, and seeing how you are making a lasting, and a much needed, positive impact in your homes, schools and communities has inspired me beyond what I thought was possible.
DCON is absolutely one of the highlights of the Key Club year. We come together to celebrate past achievements, prepare for future success through training in workshops and the election of new leadership, and we enjoy the fellowship of old and new friends who share our passion for service. As you experience this weekend, I want to challenge you to meet as many people as possible, to learn as much as you can, to consider all the possibilities for service and leadership that exist through Key Club involvement, and then to take the education and inspiration back to your home clubs. Thank you again for your passion for service. I hope DCON will be everything you hoped for and more. If you enjoy DCON, and I am confident that you will, then please make plans to join us this summer for the Key Club International Convention in Chicago, Illinois. I want to personally thank you for making a difference through your service to your homes, schools, and communities, and I cannot wait to see y’all in Chicago!
A friend in service,
William B. Sims.

Speaker Bio
Erin Fischer After graduating from Indiana University, I traveled to Timbuktu and back. Well, if I am being honest it’s not quite Timbuktu, but close. I have spoken in 46 states, recruited in Hungary, volunteered in Hawaii, taught in Brazil and have been on stages with thousands of peo- ple in the audience all with the focus of developing people and building teams and communities – while growing my brand. I consider myself a leadership nerd – a woman on a mission to help teams and individuals excel at what they do. My forum is the stage, but my focus is super- cognitive skills. I want to support the growth of people by giving them time to think, reflect and gain new knowledge. I love the idea of challenging people and being challenged myself and I LIVE for the ‘aha’ moment – both yours and mine.

Chaperone Guidelines
Over 2,000 teenagers are registered for this Conference. Fortunately, Key Club- bers have a reputation of behaving exceptionally well and much of the credit belongs to the dedication of our advisors and other chaperones. Thank you for volunteering to serve. Here is what we need your help with: 1. Prior to DCON, perhaps while traveling to Orlando, discuss the rules with your students. Don’t assume they know the rules or even read what they signed in the Code of Conduct. Make sure to go over the dress code. Dress code is primarily the responsibility of the chaperone, not the district staff. 2. We are very strict about males and females staying out of each others’ rooms at all times and under any circumstances, even if adults are present. Other than in sleeping rooms, males and females may be together. We do send students home for breaking this rule, so make sure students are in- formed and know the consequences. 3. Remind students that we are a family, that all chaperones are expected to correct any student, not just their own, and that all adults are to be respect- ed at all times 4. Treat students with the same respect you expect them to treat you. 5. Most participants have had their costs subsidized to at least some extent by another person or organization who expects them to benefit from participa- tion in DCON. Therefore, chaperones as well as student are expected to at- tend all functions and stay for the entire session. All chaperones are ex- pected to enforce this. 6. Visually check that students are in their proper rooms by curfew. Students are not allowed out of their rooms after midnight even with chaperones, with the exception of Sergeant-at-Arms. 7. Adults are required to follow the same rules about alcohol and drug use as students. 8. Counsel your students about being considerate of others staying at the hotel. If you become aware of any student not being considerate, respectfully talk to that student. Remember: “Caring— Our Way of Life” 9. Talk to your students about being on time for sessions. This is a big hotel and it takes extra time to get around. 10. Please call the Sergeant-at-Arms Office if you have any disciplinary prob- lems. 11. Adults and non-Key Club members are not permitted to be involved in Key Club election campaigns. This includes asking or suggesting questions during caucuses or other times. 12. At general workshop sessions, please assist in keeping attendees qui- et once the meeting begins. 13. Students may not leave the hotel even with an adult without com- pleting a Permission to Leave for. Chaperones violating this policy will be sent home with their students 14. Relax and enjoy DCON!

Announcements
1. Official Conference name badges and wrist bands must be worn and visible at all Conference functions. You will not be able to enter a session, including meal functions and dances, without an official Conference name badge and wrist band. If you lose your badge, you may purchase a replacement for $10.00 at the Conference Office. 2. Tickets are required to receive meals. This is how we count the number of meals eaten. There are no exceptions and no replacement meal tickets. Treat meal tickets like cash. 3. Each Key Club is allowed two voting delegates in the House of Delegates. All such delegates must check in with the Credentials Desk as soon as possible to receive their credentials. The Credentials Desk will be open during registration and at other times announced during the General Sessions. No Delegates will be able to enter the House of Delegates without their name badge and wrist band. 4. Adults and non-Key Club members are not permitted to be involved in Key Club campaigns. This includes asking or suggesting questions during caucuses or other times. 5. Students may not leave the hotel, even with a chaperone, without completing a Permission to Leave form. 6. Contest entries should be picked up from the contest room following the conclusion of their scheduled viewing. Winning Single Service, Major Emphasis, Poster, or Video entries will be delivered to Key Club International for judging. Winning scrapbooks must be taken to International Convention by winning club. 7. Workshops are great learning opportunities. Members of the board have planned a large number of workshops to meet many interests. Please demonstrate promptness, attention, and kindness to our work- shop facilitators. 8. The Lost and Found will be at the registration desk. 9. Replacement room keys will only be issued by the hotel to persons who can show a valid (state issued) identification. If you do not have such identification, someone else in the room with a qualified identification will need to request a replacement key from the hotel registration desk. 10. Please remember that everyone judges Key Club and your school based on your actions. Please be courteous to other Conference attendees, hotel staff, other hotel guests, our speakers, our presenters, and everyone! Prove to all that caring is, indeed, our way of life.

Emergency Info
The Rosen Shingle Creek Resort is fully prepared to handle emergency situations. In the event of an emer- gency, dial 911 from any house phone to be directly connected to the hotel’s emergency response team. It is vital that your medical authorization form be turned in before or at DCON so that we have it on file. This form is needed to obtain proper treatment if nec- essary. Your chaperone should also have a copy of this form with them.
After calling 911, please call one of the following: Sergeant at Arms Advisor Bob Filichia at 321-480-9129 DCON Administrator Sam Kerce at 850-933-9613 District Administrator Donna Parton at 954-610-7172
For any non-emergency situations or to visit the lost- and-found, please go to the Sebastian Registration desk. Conference Survey Please take time to complete the DCON survey once it is released. We value your input! This information is used to make future events more enjoyable for everyone in attendance. The survey will be open April 8th, 2018.

National Songs
The Star Spangled Banner
Oh, say can you see By the dawns early light What so proudly we hailed
At the twilights last gleaming? Who's broad striped and bright stars Through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watched Were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare! The bombs bursting in air! Gave proof through the night That our flag was still there Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free The Cayman Islands Song And the home of the brave My heart enshrines thee yet. Homeland! Fair Cayman Island
I cannot thee forget
2. Away from noise of cities, Their fret and carking care, With moonbeams' soft caresses, O land of soft, fresh breezes, Unchecked by garish glare, Of verdant trees so fair Thy fruit and rarest juices, With the Creator's glory reflected ev'ry- Abundant, rich and free, where. When sweet church bells are chiming, O sea of palest em'rald, My fond heart yearns for thee. Merging to darkest blue, (Chorus) When 'ere my thoughts fly Godward, I always think of you. 3. When tired of all excitement, And glam'rous worldly care, Chorus: Dear, verdant island, set How sweet thy shores to reach, In blue Caribbean sea, And find a welcome there, I'm coming, coming very soon, And when comes on the season, O beauteous isle, to thee. Of peace, good will to man, Although I've wandered far,
