May 2021 EAA CHAPTER 377 EAA—Our mission: To grow participation in aviation by sharing the spirit of aviation. LAST MONTH THIS MONTH From Bill Cotter The fly- in in Elkhart in April was well attended. We had about 22 planes. The day of the fly-in was beautiful and couldn’t have been any better. Thank you to Den- nis Tevebaugh for the delicious hamburgers and many member brought in many tasty desserts. You can see by the photos that everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a business meeting to discuss the next fly-in. A lot of fun was had by everyone who attended. One of the members said these fly-in are fun and well worth coming. REMEMBER---if you plan to FLY in to 36K, CHECK NOTAMS! The airport will be CLOSED during the air- show. I am sure it is due, in part, to Covid and poor weather for those that pay “in person”. Also, we are not printing FLY PAPER any more, so renewal envelopes only went out once, not multiple times as we have done in the past. At last count, we have 62 members on our roster. And four of those are new! We had 90 members in 2020, and my records show 33 2019 members did not renew in 2020 (I think some have paid for 2021, however). I know our group is a vibrant, healthy chapter. BUT--- this is a trend we do not want to see. We have hovered around 100 members for the past few years. So far this year, Randal has written the following checks: ~$423.00 to EAA national for our annual dues and fees, ~$12.00 for postage ~$95.25 to the Scott Co Treasurer for 2020 and 2021 trailer tags. Our expenses are pretty low, as much of the events are paid for by the member(s) hosting. PLEASE keep our checkbook healthy, and mail Randal your dues, if you haven’t yet. THANK YOU!!!!! Mail your check for $15 to Treasurer/Secretary Randal Loder 508 S College St Scott City, KS 67871 [email protected] Work Phone: 620-872-7224 Ext. 231 Mobile: 620-214-3877 FROM PAUL FIEBICH—I just finished the Annual Condition Inspection on my AirBike. She is ready to fly again and I will enjoy using the navigation tablet mounted to my kneeboard. It is a real anxiety reducer on out of the area flights. May 2021—page 3 HEARD IN THE HANGAR FROM BEN McNARY—“Four planes from Scott City made a weekend overnight flyout trip to Gaston’s Re- sort at the bottom of Bull Shoals Reservoir. There is a beautiful grass runway with cabins to rent along the river. We had a great time fishing, flying and enjoy- ing their wonderful restaurant. We hope to do another group trip next year!” 2021 DUES Mail your check for $15 to Treasurer/Secretary Randal Loder 508 S College St Scott City, KS 67871 [email protected] Work Phone: 620-872-7224 Ext. 231 Mobile: 620-214-3877 May 2021—page 4 The 100-Dollar Haircut, Chapter Two By Tom Winter, Lincoln, NE I’ve decided houses.
