Charmi Jamison Zohair Skyler M. Avneet Kimberly Saveya Caitlyn Bianca Tommy Every Christmas my family and I have a family party. All the kids come and play while the parents mingle. My whole family loves to cook so every Christmas we have delicious lobster and crab. I love the presents and all, but I absolutely love the Christ- mas carols. It’s the best! My family likes them too, but for some reason the song JINGLE BELLS is no one’s favorite but mine. But after all the food, presents, and Christmas carols it’s the end of the day so I’ll have to wait till next year to celebrate. By Reagan Grade 3 Maya Grade 2 Thanksgiving Traditions I celebrate Thanksgiving! We eat turkey, pumpkin pie, and pea soup. We have a lot of fun. We play lots of fun games and play together. We spend time with our families and cele- brate holidays. We celebrate Christmas, Easter, and other holidays. For Christmas, we wait for Santa to come and we open our presents. We have fun. We eat good meals. Like pie, soup, rice, and other food. We drink water, juice, and other things. But the best thing to do when you celebrate holidays, is to have fun. Ben Grade 2 Traditions I celebrate New Year’s Eve by going to my cousin’s house. We wait till midnight and then blow our whistles like crazy. Then, some people leave. I leave last, sometimes. So, I play with my cousins. Once I leave, I say goodbye. We drive home. I wish I could have more fun, but it’s past 12:00. I can’t wait till next year. I go to bed thinking about next New Year’s Eve. I wonder who will be there again. I know one thing, my cousins got to be coming. Cosette Grade 2 Thanksgiving Traditions For Thanksgiving, we do fun games. We talk about ourselves, and we eat turkey, potatoes, and bread. Do you like Christmas? One the tradi- tions I do during Christmas is decorat- ing my Christmas tree. I spread white, red, orange, green, blue, and violet lights around my tree, they even glow at night, morning, and afternoon! Jinil Grade 2 I celebrate Christmas from dawn till night. My tradi- Do you celebrate any holi- tion is my family celebrates days? I celebrate Thanksgiv- Christmas while eating pota- ing. Thanksgiving is fun be- toes and steak. We also ride cause you get to have family bikes and swim at our grandma’s pool. Lastly, we over, eat turkey, and you get to open presents. play games. My family is nice, Nick P. also they have came over on Grade 2 holidays, too. Anthony Grade 2 110 For Thanksgiving, I pick out a turkey from a farm, cook it fresh, and then eat it fresh. For Christmas, I decorate my tree really good! Dane E. Grade 2 A tradition that my family does is during Christmas we pray together. Leonardo Grade 2 Let’s go bake some cookies for Santa!!! First we need to get all of the ingredients. All of the ingredients are in our kitchen like eggs and dough. Next we have to put the cookies in the oven. While we wait let’s play a game. Then the timer will beep and the cookies will be done. They look deliciously yummy, let’s taste them. Our whole family will be able to eat them. Making the cookies was fun to eat. I saved two of the best looking cookies for Santa! By Lexie Grade 2 I do a Christmas tradition by writing a Christmas list. First, I get a paper and pencil and I write what I want. Next, I ask my brother to write the letter because he has good handwriting. I want lego friends and I want a Hex Bug that’s a bug that you turn it on and it moves. I put the list in my mailbox and put the red flag up. The mailman comes and gives it to Santa. Then I sleep and Santa comes at night and puts the presents under the tree. I wake up and run downstairs and I see the presents. I wake up my family and tell them that Santa came. We take turns opening gifts and I got what I wanted. Finally, I had a wonderful awesome Christmas! By Olivia Grade 2 Ho Ho Ho Santa is here. One tradition my family has is Santa coming to our house. First we open our presents and play with our toys. Some of the toys we got were a bay blade, toy car, and a rainbow loom kit. Next we play with our new toys. Then we eat and cookies and we go to bed. That’s our tradition, what’s your tradition? By Shawn Grade 2 Yippie! Making a snow man is a tradition in my family. We roll big fat snowballs with my family and friends. We all work hard together. Next getting the tools for the snow man is fun because I get to stick a carrot nose in he snowman. Then we get the berries for the eyes. Finally making a snowman is fan- tastically fun especially with my family and friends. By Maria Grade 2 Ho,Ho,Ho Santa is coming to town! My Christmas tradition is writing a Christmas list. First, I get a pencil and paper. Next, I write things I want for Christmas and I get an envelope. Then, I put the paper in the envelope and I write an address. Finally, I put it in the mailbox and send it to the North Pole. I hope Santa will bring me toys. By Jakub Grade 2 Oh my, Ho Ho! On Christmas Eve my family has a tradition. First my sis- ter and I check Elfonzo and the gifts. Next my family goes to the Service. While I go to Sunday School I learn about God. Then we go home and open gifts. Last we eat cookies. It was so much fun. By Solomon Grade 2 I wonder if I will pray first? One of my family’s traditions is to celebrate Ramadan. First I watch TV while I eat a meal. Next I go to see my grandma at the cemetery. Finally I eat a Daal Mash , pray then eat a meal. By Adam Grade 2 Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas. A tradition I have is to look for my Elf on the Shelf. First I decorate my Christmas tree with a chain we go all the way around. Next we look for our Elf on the Shelf and look under and above everything. We look behind and in front too. Then we open our gifts and presents at night. Finally we go to sleep with our bellies full. By Filip Grade 2 What do I do on Thanksgiving? Every Thanksgiving we have a tradition. First I look for my Elf on the Shelf because he comes back on Thanksgiving. He brings me a present to keep me busy when my dad cooks his fa- mous mash potatoes. When I get to my Grandma’s house we wait for the food. For an appetizer we have cheese and crackers. Next we have dinner, turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes and for dessert we have pumpkin pie and cake. Then we talk, do crafts, and play. I can’t wait for next years Thanksgiving because it’s awesome! By Alexa Grade 2 Do you know how to make cookies? One of my family’s traditions is to make cookies. First take out the recipe and supplies. Next mix the supplies. Then bake the cookies in the oven. Finally my mom, my sister, and I decorate cookies to give to friends and eat the rest. By Shivam Grade 2 When you decorate a snowman you need snow, decorations, and a hat. One tradition my family has is making a snowman. First I roll with my brother the snowball. Next we decorate the snowman. Then I put the arms on the person. Finally we roll the snowballs to make the snowman. By Sam Grade 2 Yahoo presents! My tradition is opening presents with Carter. We spent Christmas day opening presents. First in the morning we exchange the presents. Next Carter and I play with all of the presents for 12 minutes. It feels like a short time but it is long enough. Then we play with the paper for a while but we are going to need teamwork to help clean up the paper. Finally we go to bed and dream of wonderful memories. By Mason Grade 2 Crunch, crunch, crunch goes Santa eating the cookies. My tradi- tion is getting ready for Santa. First I make a list for Santa so he can read it. Christmas is going to be fun because I get to make cookies for Santa and play in the snow. Then Santa comes on Christmas Eve at midnight. Finally I open my gifts at 6:00 in the morning. By Hubert Grade 2 Do you like Christmas? I do. A tradition in my house is when Santa delivers toys every year. First Santa writes if I am on the bad list or good list. Next Santa delivers toys to me. Then I look at my toys from Santa. I feel happy be- cause I think Santa delivers the best toys.

As the new general manager at West Central Electric, I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce myself and give you a little of my background information in this month’s report. One of the most telling things about me is that rural electric cooperatives have always been a part of my life. My father’s first job out of college was as a secretary at Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative in Timber Lake, S.D., where I spent the first 18 years of my life. Through the years, I watched my dad work his way up until he became the general manager. I don’t know how many annual meetings I’ve attended, but they started before I was in kindergarten! I also remember that during severe outages, my dad left our home for work. One time in particular and during a blizzard, I remember a lineman coming to get him in a tracked Bombardier. As I watched him leave and go down the street, I remember thinking how neat that was. It wasn’t until I was older, that I realized just how serious the situation was. Anytime we have members and livestock without power, it’s all hands on deck until the Jeff Birkeland, CEO lights are back on. I also suspect I was like a lot of young men who idolized their dad and wanted to [email protected] be just like him.

  • CIDER PRESS December 2020
CIDER PRESS December 2020 Time Moves Us On In 1959 our Grandfather and Father came up from Palisade to New Castle to purchase an orchard and hayfield to expand the fruit operation that they had in Palisade. At that time, they never would have imagined that the farm would become a Mobile Home park. But I-70 came through and times change. The property was changed from a farm into a community. As we grew up in the business, we never imagined that life would be any different. But as we have aged and life changes have continued to press in on us, we find ourselves again at another crossroads in life. We have made the leap to pass the community on to another operator. We did a lot of work and asked a ton of questions to narrow the options to someone who represented that they would take care of the community in a positive way so that we could feel good about who we passed the responsibilities on to. Of course, we can never know all that might happen in the economy or in life, yet time moves on relentlessly, so must we. It has been a difficult process for us as we have grown up alongside many of you and interacted with some of you for 30 or more years. We want to thank you all for being part of our life and we will pray and encourage the continuation of a healthy community here. We are going to continue to live in the area and be part of the valley that is home to us.

  • Black Friday and Christmas Preview 2017 a Report Looking at What We Can Expect from Black Friday and the Online Retail Christmas Trading Peak in 2017
Black Friday and Christmas Preview 2017 A report looking at what we can expect from Black Friday and the online retail Christmas trading peak in 2017 A report researched & compiled by IMRG, supported by INTRODUCTION – A SETTLED PEAK PERIOD? When we talk about Christmas peak in retail, these days we tend to mean Black Friday. Or at least the Black Friday period, to be more accurate. There are other peaks of course, but that’s become the one that really matters for many. It’s been fascinating to watch this event evolve over the past few years. The scale of it is so huge that it appears to be a bit uncontrollable. Its character changes, the period it covers extends (might it contract again?), tactics and strategies adapt to suit this new format of peak trading. And therein lies part of the problem. It’s such an important time of year for sweeping up a share of the huge (albeit, often discounted) spend that goes through the virtual tills that the approach retailers take does seem to have become a bit safe; a bit uniform. We’ve had 3 years of this new format peak trading now and the first year (2014) was a bit traumatic. Retailers don’t want to (indeed, can’t afford to) miss out on having a successful peak, so they do what seems to work. Andy Mulcahy But – and it’s a big but – this thing doesn’t ever seem to settle into Editor, IMRG a reliably predictable pattern. It’s shown a remarkable capacity for evolving in size and scale each year and the opportunity for innovation is absolutely ripe for those who find clever ways to stand out against their competition.

  • You've Unlocked BLACK FRIDAY & CYBER MONDAY Marketing Tips!
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: You’ve unlocked BLACK FRIDAY & CYBER MONDAY marketing tips! By Kat Dessenon and Dan Gingiss www.persado.com | [email protected] 1 INTRODUCTION It’s the most wonderful time of the year – for retailers and bargain-hunting shoppers, that is. The four days in late November that encompass Black Friday, Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday are often make-or-break for retailers in terms of hitting or exceeding annual sales goals. According to the Canadian e-commerce company Shopify, merchants on its platform collectively generated more than $1 billion US in sales during those four days last year. Put into further perspective, buyers were placing orders at a rate of 2,800 per minute and spending $1 million per minute at the peak of Black Friday. The top three shopping categories: Apparel, Accessories and Housewares. Overall, according to Adobe via TechCrunch, last year’s Black Friday was a record-breaker for online sales in the U.S. – to the tune of $5 billion. Cyber Monday was even bigger for online sales, which makes sense given its digital focus. Adobe says that it was the largest online sales day in history with sales coming in at a whopping $6.59 billion. Another incredible statistic: Adobe projects that online sales will increase nearly 15% in 2018 to $124 billion during the months of November and December. And which marketing channel drives the most conversions? With apologies to Mark Twain, the reports of email’s death are greatly exaggerated. Email actually led all channels with a conversion rate of 4.29% last year, according to Shopify.

This is my rule in all the churches.” (1 Corinthians 7:17) When we pastors talk about stewardship, it is easy for us to think “Oh boy… here we go again! Asking for money!” It is easy for us to fall into the trap that the devil, the world, and our sinful nature sets for us. This trap is to make us think that all we have in life is of our own making. I earn my money. I buy my stuff. I have worked for this. I… I… I…. However, the Biblical view of stewardship does not focus only on money.
