28 of the biggest art shows in the world, which runs for seven months. It took me three years before I could show my art. But within three months I’d sold the whole show. I know a lot of talented artists but determination and grit will outweigh talent in a commercial world all day long. I’m not a fan of galleries. I have all my buyers on my phone and I open up my studio once a month so they can look at my new work.
For five years you’ve been BAFTA’s artist in residence... I do six portraits for them every year and those I’ve painted include Cate Blanchett, Ricky Gervais, Samuel L Jackson, Claire Foy and Damian Lewis. This year, one of the portraits I’m doing is Jane Fonda. Do you fear where technology is going? Not as much as I should. People fear the unknown, even books were feared once. It’s when you don’t police things that they can get out of hand. I live in a house with three boys who are really into screens. Other mums say: ‘I only let my children have half an hour of screen time,’ and I think, yeah, mine have half an hour off the screen [laughs]. I hope it means they are ahead of the curve for the future.
What are you like with technology? I’m terrible! The higher tech it is, the more likely it is to break down, so I avoid. I’m not even on Instagram. Everything in my life has to be a pleasure, not a chore. I find social media a chore, and when something is a chore I axe it.
How did you meet Charlie? We were friends for years, through work. If you’d said to me: ‘You’re going to marry Charlie,’ I’d have said: ‘Yeah, whatever – he’s not my type.’ They do say the best relationships come from friendships. You can go a bit quicker.
What made you begin to see Charlie in a romantic way? One year, between Christmas and New Year, he rang me about work, and we ended up chatting about everything and anything. I was looking at the time – it was 9pm, then 10pm, 11pm, 12am… 1am. I didn’t want to get off the phone. Months went by and I did Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie in Canada or Hawaii. I set up Skype, and asked if I could test it on him. We chatted for ages again. There were these signs, but we were both dating other people all the way through our friendship. The timing has to be right, and one day it was.
Was it a whirlwind when it finally happened? Yes, it all clicked very quickly. We married in Las Vegas after nine months. He didn’t want children originally, but I guess he hadn’t met the right person. Who wouldn’t want to have children with me [laughs]? I was really anxious on my wedding day because there was so much anticipation leading up to the ceremony, which was held in the evening. But when I got to the aisle I felt great.
You and Greg have both kept up your fitness since the wedding… We did it for the wedding and we noticed such a big difference, not just in the way we looked but we felt better too. It’s given us the motivation to keep it up. When we’re away, we’ll be taking our gym gear.
Greg’s doing the London Marathon in aid of Haven House next April. Has he started training yet? No, he’s starting in October. It’s a huge life challenge and such a big commitment, with a lot of pressure. I don’t know if it’s for me. I love team sports and challenges but I don’t enjoy running.
Do you and Greg get competitive with each other? Sometimes, but in a good way. We prefer to train separately. I can’t take Greg seriously [laughs]! But Sam and I want to start training together once a week.
Do you enjoy changing up your hair? Yeah, I’ve just had it cut really short – the shortest I’ve had it for a long time. I fancied a bit of a change. I feel like short hair suits me the best.
What do you think when you look back at your early appearances on TOWIE? Oh God [laughs]! At the time you think you look great, don’t you?! I do look back at photos and think, look at my tan, look at my hair, look at my make-up and my eyelashes – it’s all too much [laughs]. But in ten years’ time, I might look back on the way I look now and think, what were you doing?!
How was Nelly’s fifth birthday party? She really wanted to get involved. She chose the colour theme and we visited the location together. It was everything Nelly loves. She decided there had to be a birthday cake too. We invited five of her school friends and she was so excited. It went down really well.
Does she like playing mummy? Yeah, over the past two years, Nelly’s really got into role play. I really encourage it because I used to do it with Samantha when we were little. We’ve got a Baby Annabell Alexander doll for Arthur as well. He’s into his cars, but if he wants to be involved in what Nelly wants to play with, I’ll always encourage that.
Why have you partnered up with Baby Annabell? Since Nelly’s been able to play with toys, Baby Annabell has always been her favourite. The new interactive dolls have all the characteristics of a real baby. They cry and you can burp them! Nelly is so nurturing. She loves to ‘baby’ her cousin Rosie, and it’s similar with Baby Annabell because she can really interact with it. OK!

1. For the base, pick and then finely chop the rosemary. In a pan, heat coconut oil, stir in the sugar, rosemary and crushed ginger nuts. Take off the heat once the butter is melted and mix until all are combined. 2. Place the base mixture in a 23cm lined tin and press down until the base is firm. Pop in the fridge to chill and set for at least one hour. 3. In a large bowl, combine all of the cheesecake ingredients and whisk until the mixture thickens and sets. 4. Remove the set base from the fridge and pour the cheesecake mixture SERVES in. Her Corrie character Rosie Webster has been through some tricky situations, including a kidnapping, and has taken down a drug lord. But through all this, one thing has remained pretty consistent in Helen’s life – her relationship with now fiancé Scott Sinclair. The pair, who have now been together for nearly a decade, were still finding their feet back in 2013, with rumours of a split circulating. ‘We are a passionate couple,’ Helen told OK! in response to the speculation. However, the now 28 year old insisted: ‘We’re very strong as a couple and I like to think we’re very much in love.’ Last year, footballer Scott, now 30, popped the question during a family trip to Disneyland Paris. At the time of our exclusive interview, Helen wasn’t sure if marriage would happen. ‘Well, my dad is Catholic and he’d really like to see us married because we live together. But Scott’s from a very different background – his parents aren’t married and they’ve been together for years.’ On the prospect of children, Helen said: ‘I’m so broody. I’m such a maternal person. I’d love to be a mother.’ Her wish came true and the couple now share daughters Matilda, four, and one-year-old Delilah. Helen, who’s currently taking a break from Corrie but also has her own maternity lingerie and swimwear company, Delilah Ruby UK, told us at the time: ‘I don’t ever want to rely on somebody else for money.’ But she did reveal she relied on Scott for emotional support while suffering from depression. She said: ‘He’s an amazing guy. It’s embarrassing talking about anxiety and depression – the fact that I can’t always handle what other people can.’ Now she shares any struggles with her social media followers, and is helping to end the stigma around mental health issues with her honesty.
