Rohs 2002/95/EC Lead - Free Road - Map RoHS 2002/95/EC Lead - free road - map 08 September 2004 Subject : Directive on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS 2002/95/EC). Dear customer, the RoHS directive (RoHS 2002/95/EC) will be valid in the EC from 1st July 2006. Lead (Pb), Hg, Cd, Cr(Vl) and flame retardants PBB, PBDE in all electrical and electronic equipment will be prohibited from the 1st July 2006 onwards. Our company will be making every effort to comply with the RoHS Directive and we are pleased to provi- de the following information: • From today until 31 December 2004 you will have the choice to receive our electronic components with or without lead. If you wish to receive Kingbright components without lead, please add the suffix «-F01» to the part number of the component (i.e. L-934HD-F01). The addi- tional price for lead free components will be 5% higher than your current agreed buying price. • From the 1st January of 2005 you can choose to receive our components with or without lead (please add the suffix « -F01 » for lead free) and the price for lead free components will be the same as the standard components. • From 1st July of 2005, Kingbright will only provide components without lead. Concerning the other hazardous substances (Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalant chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and Polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE)), we do not use them for the production of our components. To help you, please find attached a list of all our referred components with information if they contain lead or are already lead free components. Please refer to our appendix, page 2 – 11. Further please find the soldering instructions for Lead-free processes on page 11.
