Kurzfassung Für die Maghreb-Region und die Länder Türkei, Vietnam und Ukraine werden über länder- und re­ gionenspezifische Marktanalysen die dort hauptsächlich auftretenden Wasserprobleme und die bis­ herigen Wasserprojekte identifiziert. Aktivitäten von deutschen Firmen und Institutionen in diesen Regionen werden vor dem jeweiligen Hintergrund betrachtet und bewertet. Die grundlegenden Da­ ten, die interessierten Unternehmen und Akteuren hilfreiche Hinweise und Informationen über die Länder liefern, werden gebündelt dargestellt. Den betrachteten Regionen gemein ist, dass vielfach keine flächendeckende Wasserver- und Ab­ wasserentsorgungsstruktur vorhanden ist. Damit ergibt sich die Möglichkeit, neue, angepasste Stra­ tegien umzusetzen, um Infrastrukturen zu schaffen, die eine geordnete Ver- und Entsorgung ge­ währleisten, gleichzeitig aber einer integrierten Betrachtung von Wasserversorgung, Abwasserent­ sorgung und Gewässerschutz in Verbindung mit anderen Infrastrukturbereichen Rechnung tragen. Hierbei ist das besondere Potenzial der deutschen Wasserwirtschaft zu berücksichtigen, das in einer breiten Aufstellung sowie einer Vorreiterrolle in verschiedenen innovativen Detailbereichen besteht, so dass an regionalspezifische Randbedingungen angepasste Detaillösungen und neue nachhaltige Gesamtkonzepte erarbeitet und angeboten werden können. Diese werden zukünftig mehr und mehr auf einer sektorübergreifenden Verknüpfung von Wasserversorgung, Abwasserentsorgung, Energie­ versorgung sowie Boden- und Gewässerschutz basieren und beispielsweise auf dem Ansatz von integrierten Wasserinfrastrukturkonzepten beruhen (z. B. Schließung von Stoffkreisläufen durch Wiederverwendung, Trennung und Behandlung von Teilströmen, etc.) oder Spezialtechniken bein­ halten (z.B. Nährstoffrückgewinnung. Membrantechniken). Insbesondere im Einsatz von innovativen und integrierten Systemlösungen besteht großes Potenzial für die deutsche Wasserwirtschaft, sich von konventionellen Angeboten abzuheben. Ausgehend von der Bewertung der Ländersituationen und der identifizierten Exporthemmnisse wer­ den übergreifende Strategieempfehlungen entwickelt, die zur Verbesserung der Präsenz der deut­ schen Anbieter auf internationalen Märkten beitragen können (z.B. bessere Koordinierung und Bün­ delung von Förderaktivitäten, Entwicklung und Demonstration integrierter Gesamtkonzepte, Hilfestel­ lung für KMUs). 17. Abstract For the countries addressed (North Africa with Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, Turkey, Vietnam, Ukraine), the main water problems and the existing water projects are identified by country- and region-specific market analysis. Activities of German companies and institutions in the respective countries are considered in the regional context. The basic data that provides helpful hints and information about the countries is presented. The regions have in common that in many cases no comprehensive water supply and wastewater disposal infrastructure exists. This raises the possibility of implementing new and adapted infra­ structures which will ensure a proper supply and disposal. Here the broad and innovative potential of the German water industry is taken into account which provides detailed and adapted solutions for specific regional conditions. In future the cross-sectoral links between water supply, sanitation, energy supply, and soil and wa­ ter conservation will become more and more essential. Based on the assessments of the country situations and the identified export barriers, cross-cutting strategy recommendations are developed which will help to strengthen the presence of German suppliers in international markets (e.g. better coordination and bundling of promotional activities, development and demonstration of integrated overall concepts, assistance for SMEs). 17. The author has analyzed the determining factors of the effectiveness of the government, local government, police, taking into account historical research for the 19th, 20th, and the last years of the 21st century. Archival documents have been used, some of which identify variables related to the Kyiv province, such as road construction, some of which are aimed at merchant’s perception of the attention received by logistics. Other sources emphasize the weaknesses of rural community’s actions regarding the quality of repair of bridges and dams. Finally, there are those who are critical of carriers who provided their services within and outside the province. Emphasis has been placed on the constant presence of police officers who monitored the quality and condition of roads in the settlements. This article is based on archival documents. Methods of analysis, systematization and classification have allowed to track the main array of data and conduct research. Geographic range of G. varsoviensis includes Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus and Ukraine. Such a distribution pattern led us to the assumption that the species might have originated in the Black Sea drainage area. From there, as early as the nineteenth century, it could possibly have migrated to the Baltic basin through the Pripyat-Bug canal. Thus, the goals of this study are: (1) to indicate the level of genetic divergence of G. varsoviensis from the morphologically closest species – G. lacustris and (2) to investigate the possibility of the Pontic origin of G. varsoviensis and its range expansion across the Black Sea/Baltic Sea watershed to Central Europe through the artificial canal network. Altogether 128 partial 16S rDNA sequences of Gammarus varsoviensis from 19 localities were gained.

    THE COSSACK MYTH In the years following the Napoleonic Wars, a mysterious manuscript began to circulate among the dissatisfied noble elite of the Russian Empire. Entitled The History of the Rus′, it became one of the most influential historical texts of the modern era. Attributed to an eighteenth-century Orthodox archbishop, it described the heroic struggles of the Ukrainian Cossacks. December 2011 / Available online: 08. January 2012 / Printed: June 2012 Abstract. The first findings of Gammarus varsoviensis in Ukraine are reported based on samples collected in 2009 and 2011. Until now, the species was known predominantly from the Baltic drainage area, with only one locality in the upper Pripyat River in Belarus (Black Sea basin). Our findings extend the known geographic range of this species ca. 830 kilometers south-east, revealing its occurrence in typically lowland streams and rivers of the Dnieper system, in the forest and Pontic steppe zone of the Black Sea basin. Based on the literature data we conclude that presence of this species in Ukraine was formerly overlooked through misidentification with morphologically close Gammarus lacustris. Based on such distribution pattern we can surmise that the species is native to the Black Sea drainage area. It could possibly have migrated to the Baltic basin through the Pripyat-Bug Canal, already in the XIX century. Key words: Dnieper River, biogeography, Pontic steppe, freshwater, gammarids, Ukraine.
