Al Hatch, Founder & Board Chair Back to the Bricks® April 2018 pril showers are supposed to bring AMay flowers, but far too much of the “precip” this month has been frozen. Most of us are wondering if we will ever escape the snow globe so that we can get our “rides” out of hibernation, and ready for an action-packed summer. Next on the docket is the 9th Annual PROMO TOUR which will leave Davison on Friday, June 8th, with overnight stops in Mt. Pleasant, Gaylord, Petoskey, St. Ignace, East Tawas, and return to the Birch Run Speedway & Event Center on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 for our “End of the Road” Luncheon. Click the link above for more information. NOTE: We are expecting a RECORD NUMBER of participants this year. This means that hotels, downtown parking, and local restaurants in each of the host cities will be stretched to capacity, so pack your BEST ATTITUDE, be FLEXIBLE, EXPECT a few LINES, and PLENTY of FUN as we journey to the “Mighty Mac & Back!” Excitement is building for the 14th An- nual Back to the Bricks® in August. This year’s Main Event Week will fea- ture two very special guests. Flint’s own CARL CASPER will be on the Flat Lot in Downtown Flint on FRIDAY night, AUGUST 17, 2018 from 5 - 9 PM, and all day SATURDAY, AUGUST 18th from 9 AM to 5 PM. Casper’s custom car creations include the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, K.I.T.T. from the Knight Rider, the A-Team van, and at least 3 Batmobiles. His first custom car, the award-winning 1951 Chevrolet “EMPRESS,” recently restored, will be on display this year during Back to the Bricks® near the statues of the automotive pioneers, along with one of Carl’s restored antique horse-drawn carriages. Meet Carl Casper in person, the “man behind the legend,” and get a free poster while supplies last! We are proud to announce that actor Butch Patrick, better known as “EDDIE MUNSTER,” will also be a Celebrity Guest at Back to the Bricks® 2018. Fans of the 1960’s TV show will have several opportunities during Main Event Week to check out his hearse- like MUNSTER KOACH, the DRAGULA, and assorted memorabilia from the television series. He will be at the Rolling Cruise on Wednesday, August 15th, Factory One on Thursday afternoon, August 16th, the Hot Dog Lunch at the ELGA Credit Union on Center Road, Friday, August 17th, and on the Main Lot in downtown Flint on Saturday, August 18th. I met Butch in Florida a couple of years ago, and he is personable, easy-going, and loves to reminisce with fans of the TV show. He may have outgrown his outfit, but dig out your Munster costumes, and get your picture taken with the “real” Eddie Munster! Finally, just a reminder about the “Com- munity Car Event Calendar” on our web- site. Back to the Bricks® is happy to share information about local, regional, or state- wide car shows, cruises, swap meets, and similar events in addition to our own for the convenience of our friends in the Clas- sic Car Community. For more informa- tion about this FREE service to non-profit organizations and event organizers, or to publicize your event, click the link above, and complete the online form with details and required contact information. Signing off for now, confident that by the time you receive the May newsletter, it will be warm and sunny! "People either inspire you, or they drain you. Pick them wisely." - Hans F. Hansen Monday, November 11, 2019 Printable Copy or Audio Version Morning Summary: Stocks are coming off their fifth straight week of gains as third- quarter earnings season begins to wind down. Close to 90% of S&P 500 companies have now reported results with approximately 75% topping analyst expectations. Earnings for S&P 500 companies are now on track to decline -2.4%, improving from a decline of -2.8% at the start of last week. Bulls are also pointing to the correction in the yield curve, with all longer-term debt again now yielding more than short-dated for the first time since November 2018. If you recall, the yield curve inversion was raising serious alarms about a looming recession this past summer, that has since subsided. As for Chinese trade headlines, we continue to digest mixed messages with President Trump now saying he has not agreed to suspend tariffs on Chinese goods, countering news reports last week that suggested a rollback was part of the "Phase 1" trade deal.
