  • Circuit Winkel Bible Study: Sept. 2014, Leader Guide
LCMS Circuit Bible Studies — 2014-2015 Words of Life for the Church and for the World “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Rom. 10:17). “One holy Church is to continue forever. The Church is the assembly of saints, in which the Gospel is rightly taught and the Sacraments are rightly administered” (Augustana VII). The Church “has outward marks so that it can be recognized, namely, the pure doctrine of the Gospel, and the administration of the Sacraments in accordance with the Gospel of Christ” (Apology VII/VIII). The Lord Jesus gives John a vision of the Church at the consummation of all things: “Behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” (Rev. 7:9–10). This one, holy, Christian and apostolic Church is here and now, wherever the Word of God is present. The Word of God will have believers; it will not return to God void! The Church is created and lives by words — specific words, true words and every one of them God’s Words. “Let God be true though every one were a liar” (Rom. 3:4). As Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” (Luke 21:33). Series Schedule THE CHURCH IS COMMISSIONED to bring life to the world through God’s Words, so September 2014 – Love (Pastor Jonathan that people may be baptized into eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ and be Boehne, Trinity, El Paso, Ill.) taught to treasure and observe everything Jesus has commanded.

We are only able to love because God has first loved us. His love is the epitome of unconditional agape love which is shown most clearly in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Without self-giving, self-sacrificing, self -less love, we have nothing. Love is the force that binds us together — a force that has its origin in the Creator. February 10, 2019 ~ Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany Service of the Word 8:00 & 9:30 am ~ Holy Communion 11:00 am The call of God can be a mysterious thing. At times it comes in obvious, hard to miss ways like it did for Isaiah. A winged seraph touched his lips with a burning coal and God sent him to be a prophet for His people. Other times it takes a bit of physical evidence, such as a mi- raculously large catch of fish after a long night’s fruitless labor. Either way, God will get our attention and call us to come and follow Jesus. February 17, 2019 ~ Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany Holy Communion 8:00, 9;30 and 11:00 am services What does it mean to be blessed? God and the world have two different definitions.
