There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31 ESV Song of Praise Wonderful, Merciful Savior Rodgers & Wyse CCLI Song # 106879, Dawn Rodgers & Eric Wyse: © 1989 Dayspring Music, LLC (a div. of Word Music Group, Inc.), Word Music, LLC (a div. of Word Music Group, Inc.); For use solely with the SongSelect. The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible. 4 www.ChristChurchWestshore.com We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. The people sit or remain standing. The Prayers of the People In peace, we pray to you, O Lord: For the unity of the Church in witness and proclamation of the Gospel: *The people are encouraged to pray aloud their intercessions and thanksgivings. For the peace and stability of all peoples and for the leaders of the nations: For places of work, education, and leisure: For a blessing on our homes, for our relations and friends and all whom we love: For the sick and suffering and all who minister to their needs: That in the undying love of Christ we may be united with all who have died in the faith of Christ: I invite you to offer your own petitions and thanksgivings at this time. Let us commend ourselves, and all for whom we pray, to the mercy and protection of God. Amen. The Confession and Absolution We pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. CHRIST CHURCH WESTSHORE Trinity Sunday 5 Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and bring you to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Hear the word of God to all who truly turn to him: If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2 ESV The Peace The peace of the Lord be always with you. And with your spirit. Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name of the Lord. Announcements / Birthdays / Anniversaries Birthdays: Kathy Rodgers 5/30 Anniversaries: Bob & Amy Reed June 1 (21 years) Robert & Linda Jackson June 2 (42 years) Question for Week 23 The New City Catechism Why must the Redeemer be truly God? That because of his divine nature his obedience and suffering would be perfect and effective; and also that he would be able to bear the righteous anger of God against sin and yet overcome death. (Acts 2:24) God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. Offertory Please stand. Doxology Hymn 380, v. 3 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. 6 www.ChristChurchWestshore.com The people remain standing. THE HOLY COMMUNION The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise. It is right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Who, with your co-eternal Son and Holy Spirit, are one God, one Lord, in Trinity of Persons and in unity of substance. For that which we believe of your glory, O Father, we believe the same of your Son, and of the Holy Spirit, without any difference or inequality. Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim your great and glorious name, for ever praising you and saying: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The people sit or stand. Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and when we had sinned against you and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent your only Son into the world for our salvation. By the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary he became flesh and dwelt among us.
