Carlsson-Hyslop, Dan From: Gary Scott Sent: 14 March 2017 18:06 To: reviews Subject: BOUNDARY CHANGES FOR WEST TENDRING 14TH MARCH 2017 Dear Sir or Madam I have just seen the boundary changes for the West Tendring Area from Alresford upto Ardleigh and including Frating, Elmstead and Thorrington. The draft proposals are very large and has no community connections. Even the Church has linked together in the South while groups work together in the North. Alresford has more links with Elmstead, Thorrington than Ardleigh. Ardleigh is the largest of the parish councils in Tendring and it has a close link with Lawford and Dedham (Colchester Borough) The local Church is working with Lawford and Dedham for Ardleigh. The Church in the South have recently merged together and called themselves The Ten Penny Parishes. This includes Alresford, Elmstead, Thorrington and Frating. While Great Bromley, Little Bromley and Ardleigh work together in terms of local groups, farming and so on. There is NO direct link what so ever with Ardleigh and Alresford. Ardleigh, Lawford and Manningtree have the same postal address, so does Little Bromley and Great Bromley. Mistley and Manningtree have their separate communities, while Bradfield, Wix and Wrabness, also have a postal address of Manningtree. These communities do have links. The Western part of Tendring has a large rural area and people from Ardleigh, Little Bromley and Great Bromley,in the north use services in Manningtree, while people in Elmstead, Alresford, Thorrington and Frating use the services in Brightlingsea. It would make since to have a two member ward for Elmstead, Frating, Alresford and Thorrington, and have a two member ward for Ardleigh, Little Bromley, Great Bromley and Lawford. In 2002 Alresford was with Thorrington and Frating as a two member ward, this could be made a single member ward and have another ward where Elmstead, Ardleigh, Great and Little Bromley as a 2 member ward. Elmstead Market and Ardleigh will have the Garden Village Settlement proposal in the Local Plan for the future, having around 1500 plus homes. Geographically, your proposal for Ardleigh, Alresford and Elmstead is frankly too vast and it has no connections for North and South in this proposed ward. 1 Many Thanks and best wishes. Great Bromley Parish Council MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2020 AT 7.30PM AT GREAT BROMLEY VILLAGE HALL In attendance: Cllrs Blowers, Hardy, Mander, Nicholls and Robinson. Also in attendance: TDC Cllrs Scott and Wiggins, and Lizzie Ridout (Parish Clerk) Members of the public: 1 1. Welcome and apologies for absence In the absence of a Chairman and the Vice Chairman, members agreed that Cllr Blowers would preside over the meeting until the election of a new Chairman under item 2. Cllr Blowers welcomed those present to the meeting. Apologies for absence were noted from Cllrs Lord and Hardy, and ECC Cllr Guglielmi. 2. Election of Chairman Members were required to elect a new Chairman of the Parish Council for the remainder of the municipal year following the resignation of Cllr Strowbridge at the previous meeting. Cllr Heaney proposed Cllr Nicholls to be Chairman and this was agreed by a majority. 3. Minutes of the last meeting The minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday 8th January 2020, previously circulated, were approved and signed as a correct record. 4. Declarations of Interest Members were invited to declare any Disclosable Pecuniary Interests, or other interests, and the nature of them, in relation to any item on the agenda. Cllr Robinson declared a personal interest in item 10 of the agenda, insofar as she was related to the applicant. 5. Co-option of a Parish Councillor The Clerk advised that following two Notices of Casual Vacancies being published, the Parish Council was able to co-opt two new members.

Submitted: November, 1989. bs. 1 The Evolution of Puritan Mentality in an Essex Cloth Town: Dedham and the Stour Valley, 1560-1640 A.R. Pennie Summary of thesis The subject of this thesis is the impact of religious reformation on the inhabitants of a small urban centre, with some reference to the experience of nearby settle- ments. Dedham has a place in national history as a centre of the Elizabethan Puritan Movement but the records of the Dedham Conference (the local manifestation of that movement), also illustrate the development of Reformed religion in Dedham and associated parishes. The contents of the thesis may be divided into four sections. The first of these concerns the material life of the inhabitants of Dedham and the way in which this generated both the potential for social cohesion and the possibility of social conflict. The second section examines the attempt at parish reformation sponsored by the ministers associated with the Dedham Conference and the militant and exclusive doctrine of the Christian life elaborated by the succeeding generation of preachers. The third element of the thesis focuses on the way in which the inhabitants articulated the expression of a Reformed or Puritan piety and, on occasion, the rejection of features of that piety. The ways in which the townspeople promoted the education of their children, the relief of the poor and the acknowledgement of ties of kinship and friendship, have been examined in terms of their relationship to a collective mentality characterized by a strong commitment to 'godly' religion.
