Start your review of Captain America, Vol. Dec 03, Terence rated it really liked it Shelves: marvel-unlimited Cap is once more reminded of the tragedy of war. The world has monsters and killers, but is the US the cause of them? A few of the quotes in this volume are the type that keep me up at night when I think about them too long. Or does the light we see Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 shadows we don't -- Where monsters Like a machine gun. A madman lights the spark -- And the people pay the price. He's Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 heart, the fight, the idealism, and the aspiration of America and Americans. It's funny when I was younger I didn't appreciate Captain America, but ever since his films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe I have a totally different perspective on him. Cap is simply an incredible character and this volume is a good reminder as well as a palate cleanser from the horrible Hydra Cap crap Marvel recently put out. The New Deal is a strong beginning to a powerfully thoughtful Captain America series. View 2 comments. For me, this was the book that brought artist John Cassaday that Astonishing X-Men gig with Joss Whedon that turned him into a superstar. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first appearance of John Cassday's subtle redesign of Cap's chain-mail tunic. The fabric or material of suit is less cloth and more of a composite material arranged in a chain-mail design. That is significant in itself since the look became the main Captain America visual for more than a decade. Cassaday carried this story with his shoulders and showed that his art could carry a book or at least a story. It was good that he did because the story failed me as a reader. The story isn't bad but it failed me because I'm not an American. The patriotic tone of the book made me as a reader excluded. Still, I can get behind the Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 and that's why it gets four stars. May 05, James DeSantis rated it really liked it. This was pretty damn good. Trying to piece against the world again. The first issue of him digging through the pile of the buildings where he's trying to save a few people is just perfect captain America. Then have Captain America stop a hate crime from happening in true Captain America fashion. Then we get into the real meat of the story of terrorism and it's probably one of Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 most patriotic yet capturing who Cap is. Surprisingly the story does j This was pretty damn good. Surprisingly the story does justice to current events at the time. I think a lot of it still rings true, on how hate breeds fear, which cause people to do horrible things. So wonderful. The art is pretty solid too as is the pacing. The ending ends as I expected so that was a bit let down since I thought they could have pushed it a little more. Saying Captain America: Capta Vol. 1, this was a really entertaining captain america story. Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 18, Mizuki rated it really liked it Shelves: comicpretty-good. It's a nice, fast paced story, the artwork is nice too. This post short story has a sensible political message, although I honestly don't know how realistic this message is, or how useful it's when applying to the real world. Jan 31, Anthony rated it really liked it. Little torn about how I feel on this one. On the one hand, I do get why Marvel would want a character like Captain America handling 'real-world' events, especially But on the other, I want my super hero comics to be escapism from the real world. But that was the 's. Seeing Captain America fight terrorists doesn't have the same effect as seeing Captain America punching Hitl Little torn about how I feel on this one. Seeing Captain America fight terrorists doesn't have the same effect as seeing Captain America punching Hitler. Like, there's a scene were Captain America is literally falling to his death while he's wrapped Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 the American flag which is also on fire. I mean come on, really? But at least the antagonist wasn't your typical run-of-the-mill middle eastern looking stereotype. Instead, we're never quite sure where he's from I think it's heavily implied that he's Russian? And his look is also that of a burnt man, so the scaring has made him completely white. I just think it's interesting in a positive way that in a book which is basically Captain America against terrorists, the lead terrorist doesn't look like your generic Hollywood stereotype of what a terrorist is. But with all that said, this is a pretty good read. This is mostly down to John Cassaday's art looking amazing and much better than his recent work in Uncanny . I like how Rieber doesn't overfill the pages with caption boxes and word balloons, so he's not covering up Cassaday's art. Instead the story is almost driven by the art and all the words are secondary. While I don't think it's quite as good, it's covering similar themes and grounds. This was just fine. There are a few marvel comics around this time that have similar art. The storyline was surprisingly progressive for the time. So, it was surprisingly refreshing. An interesting note: if I read this right, this comic actually takes responsibility for the civilians harmed during WWII? I do give credit for taking what was Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 a controversial stance at the time. Captain America: Forever Allies Vol 1 1 | Marvel Database | Fandom

Morph rated it liked it Shelves: comics-read-in I mean, we all know it's only temporary because Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 always returns characters to the status quo eventually, but I'd actually be cool with Sam taking on the role permanently. I've always liked Sam as the Falcon and I actually like the aspect that seems to be putting off a lot of Cap fans: the fact that he's pretty vocal about his left-of-centre politics. I also loved that Sam view spoiler [gets turned into his own version of Cap-Wolf! I also loved seeing D-Man and Diamondback in this book again Speaking of Misty segues nicely into my first complaint about this book and that's her Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 costume. It ISright? Why the Hell is Misty Knight running around in this book dressed like a character from a bad s blacksploitation movie? It's just so disappointing that Marvel hasn't moved past this kind of crap. The other thing I didn't much like Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 portraying Sam as such a rookie in the early part of this arc. YES, he's Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 to being Cap and new to shield-slinging but he is in no way a rookie superhero! The guy's been fighting crime as the Falcon since the '60s, for goodness' sake! I'm also not overly keen on the new Falcon; mainly because it doesn't look good for the guy when Steve Rogers inevitably reclaims the Captain Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 mantle and Sam wants to be the Falcon again. I see a 'tragic' death in this guy's future Oh, and I also thought the ending was a cop-out and made Sam look like a complete hypocrite. View all 15 comments. Jul 28, Sam Quixote rated it it was ok. Wow, really - that was the best they could come up with?! The stupidity begins right from the get-go. He overwrites like crazy and nearly every Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 is crammed with worthless, extraneous exposition. I agree, fuck those rich bastards but why do we need to read so much tedious waffle about stocks and contracts?! Too much of that nonsense added nothing to the book anyway making it slow and clunky to read with no flow to it. I found myself sighing every time I turned the page to be confronted with another page overloaded with dialogue and captions, none of which Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 worth the effort of reading. The dude is so plain and dull, even as Cap-Wolf! View all 8 comments. Jul 03, Terence rated it liked it. He's a super hero on a budget now. Something about him is lacking in the role. The storyline in this issue wasn't overly compelling as it takes a shallow yet realistic look at Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 issues the cou Sam Wilson, formerly Captain America's sidekick Falcon, has Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 the name of Captain America. The storyline in this issue wasn't overly compelling as it takes a shallow yet realistic look at political issues the country is facing and how corporations are able to Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 away with a lot because of their role in the economy. It's weird seeing a supervillain rant about corporate profit structure and the nature of business in such a detailed sense. I don't imagine younger readers would have any appreciation for this, but perhaps the politics would go over their heads and therefore lead them to simply see kicks and punches. The storyline isn't one I'm particularly interested in either though. Jun 01, Chad rated it did not like it. Take everything stupid from Mark Gruenwald's Cap run in the 80's and combine it with everything that's wrong with modern politics and you have Captain America: Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 Wilson. This thing was so awful where do I even start? Daniel Acuna provides some of his Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 work I've seen. It's sketchy, looks unfinished and cartoony. Misty Knight is fighting Hydra in something from Frederick's from Hollywood. I'm shocked something this misogynistic even made it through the editors. I guess girls really don't re Take everything stupid from Mark Gruenwald's Cap run in the 80's and combine it with everything that's wrong with modern politics and you have Captain America: Sam Wilson. I guess girls really don't read comics. Cap-Wolf is consistently mentioned on the dumbest thing to happen in comics list and Spencer decides to bring it back. Viper has been turned into Donald Trump. Well, now we've added it to Capt. Ameriga" Ugh! Jan 27, James DeSantis rated it it was ok. I love Sam. This was so damn boring. I get the idea behind it. I actually love internal thoughts from heroes. Sam is especially interesting and a lot of his opinions side with mine so I always enjoy that. Things don't need to be explained for everything you did or will do. You can just show it, or let the art do it's part, but WAY too Captain America: Capta Vol. 1 dialog can drive anyone crazy. Then we got a lot of goofy stuff here like the return Wow Then we got a lot of goofy stuff here like the return of wolf cap It's not entertaining. It's just stupid. It's a waste of an issue and I facepalm throughout this entire portion. I love goofy fun stuff, but not when it's dumb and filler. Overall the art is all over the place too.
