In fact the times are changing very fast, and so are the geo-strategic and socio-economic realities around us. The major challenge for a dynamic think- tank (TT) like Sustainable Development Policy institute (SDPI) is to remain relevant to these changes. At SDPI, we have been trying to remain relevant to changing context through our trans-disciplinary research agenda and innovative policy outreach strategies. It gives me immense satisfaction that most of our efforts get recognized nationally, regionally, and globally. For instance, we were placed in 12 major categories on the Global Go To Think Tank Index (GTTI) – a ranking of 6486 TTs across the globe – by University of Pennsylvania to acknowledge the important contributions and emerging global trends of TTs worldwide. SDPI was prominently placed among top think tanks of South East Asia and The Pacific (15th position); TOP THINK TANK WORLDWIDE (NON US) (103rd position); TT with Best Quality Assurance and Integrity Policies and Procedures (38th Position); TT with best trans-disciplinary approach (38th Position); TT to watch (40th position); World’s Top Environment Policy TT (65th Position); World’s Top Social Policy TT (99th Position); Best Institutional Collaborator TT (62nd Position); TT with best advocacy and policy outreach (63rd Position); TT with best public engagement program (75th Position);and TT with Best Use of Social Networks Category (77th Position). Likewise in an unranked category of GTTI, SDPI is one of 144 Best Independent Think Tanks. At regional level, we were honoured by our network partners who gathered in Islamabad on our call and helped us hold a very successful South Asia Economic Summit in Pakistan and 18th annual Sustainable Development Conference. The government has recognized our research on climate change by making us part of official delegation to COP22 in Marrakech. This is in addition to SPDI’s presence on key policy forums such as National Economic Advisory Council; National Advisory Committee of Planning Commission; National Advisory Council of UNDP on Inclusive and Sustainable Growth; National Advisory Committee on Food Security and Nutrition Strategic Review; Climate Change Commission (formed by the Lahore High Court), etc. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT POLICY INSTITUTE In addition to our support to Council for Women Parliamentarians (CWP), and Section 1: Non-Muslim Parliamentarians Caucus (NMPC) in 2016, we also initiated a Green Parliamentary Caucus to strengthen the pro-environment legislation. Besides, we extended our research support to SDG task force in parliament as well as to the Young Parliamentarian Forums, and Pakistan Institute of Parliamentarian Services. We are also working with local government representatives in Khyber INTRODUCTION Pakhtunkhwa and the Punjab. TO SDPI At SDPI, we believe that “research not disseminated is research not conducted”, hence we are always forthcoming when it comes to media engagement. Like last years, we were consulted and invited by the mainstream electronic and print media for the analysis of Federal and Provincial Budgets 2016; Climate Change; China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Civil Military Relations, Food Security, Tax Reforms; Education; Energy; Hazards of Shipbreaking Industry in Pakistan; US Presidential Elections, etc. SDPI is a non-partisan organization, which provides policy advice without any bias and partiality. That is precisely the reason that in Pakistan we get heard both by the treasury as well as the opposition benches. In fact, at times SDPI’s policy About SDPI What’s New? engagement events turn into “all parties” consultation.
