FAITH FORMATION NEWS

In today’s Gospel we hear Jesus preaching to his followers about the Law. Jesus tells them to observe the law, but he wants them to know that following the law is more than just rote obedience but that we must take the law to heart. We must not only eliminate violent conduct, but also angry thoughts; not only greedy actions, but also selfish desires; not only dishonest words, but also deceitful plans. When we follow the law in our hearts, we build up relationships: with ourselves, with others, and most importantly, with God. We conform ourselves, more and more to Christ. We live a life built on and sustained by love. Ronald Szczerbiak Elementary Level Sunday, March 1st: Kindergarten Religion Class at 10:30 AM in the Parish Center Classroom #2. Saturday, March 7th: 1st Holy Communion Retreat for all 3rd graders at 9:3012:00 PM in the parish center Classrooms 13 & 57. JR/SR High Ash Wednesday is this week…during Lent, we reflect on the choices we’ve made. We ask God to forgive us for the times we have failed to do his will, and we rededicate ourselves to doing good and avoiding sin. We reflect on how Jesus resisted the temptations of the devil in the desert, and we pray that God’s grace will help us do the same. Peace, Sharon Pikul
