We all look forward to being together in person in 2022! As our largest fundraiser, each year Celebrity Sports Night raises vital funds for Viscardi’s most critical needs, many of which are not covered by any other funding source. To that end, I want to acknowledge the support of all donors and companies that have given to this event, as well as the Center at large, over these past unprecedented ffteen months. Believe me, we have needed your support now more than ever. I want to thank all the teachers, therapists and staff, throughout The Viscardi Center, Abilities, Inc., and Henry Viscardi School, for their inspiring dedication during this diffcult time. I am proud to report that we have been able to meet our mission at a time when we know they, too, are personally facing challenges. These walls are strong, but the people within them are even stronger. When the pandemic hit, the Center and School pivoted quickly to continue to serve children and adults through our educational and employment programs and services. The necessity to say “yes we can,” instead of “it is too hard,” taught us all that we are capable of much more than we had previously thought. I always say that it is my honor to serve as Board Chair, and I mean it, perhaps now more than ever. I want to thank my fellow Board Chairs, Beth Daly (HVS Board) and Candy Cucharo (Abilities Board), for their partnership this year. I also express my gratitude to all Board Members for their time and contributions to our life-changing work. Finally, I want to pay special tribute to John Kemp, Sheryl Buchel and all members of the senior management team. Their fexibility, ingenuity and spirit have not only kept The Viscardi Center surviving this year, but they have kept it thriving. It is an honor to serve alongside them. I hope you enjoy tonight’s event, and please be sure to join us in person on May 19, 2022 for our 55th Annual Celebrity Sports Night.
