Minutes of the Closed Door Meeting held at Hotel Sakithyan on July 9, 2006

a. Resolved that the President and the members of the Lions Club of Madras Greater appreciate the services rendered by the previous team of office bearers headed by Ln. Venkatachalam and for their services, during his term for the year 2005-2006. b. Resolved that the President and the members of the Lions Club of Madras Greater appreciate the services rendered by the previous team of office bearers headed by Governor PMJF Lion Dr. S. Natarajan and for his services during his term for the year 2005-2006.

4. Program calendar for this lionistic year was presented, circulated and adopted. 5. Sub-committees were formed as follows: Attendance Committee – Ln. Swaminathan, Chairman Program Committee – Ln. Sivaramakrishnan, Chairman Audit Committee - Ln.K.N.Krishnamurthy, Chairman Finance and Fund Raising Committee: Ln. Suresh, Chairman Charternite Committee – Ln. Ganapathi Subramaniam, Chairman Permanent Project Committee – Ln. Venkatachalam, Chairman, Ln. Dr.Prasad, Vice Chairman Greeter Committee – Ln. Nandhini Iyengar, Chairman

6. Budget for the current year was presented by Ln. Subramaniam, Treasurer for both Activities and Administration. The budget was adopted “as it is” and subject to review again at the end of the second quarter (December end). Ln. K.N.Krishnamurthy proposed and Ln. Swaminathan and Ln. Vallabhan seconded. 7. Necessary resolutions were passed to enable the Treasurer to open accounts for the Club at the bank convenient to Treasurer. The accounts are to be operated jointly, by the Treasurer along with either President or Secretary. 8. Discussed about the first project of the year – Distribution of School Uniforms to the Corporation Primary School students on July 29, 2006. Also discussed about the requests from the school such as custom made tables and water filters. 9. President presented the details of the Cabinet Installation to be held on July 30, 2006. Resolved that the club will pay Rs.100 for each member participating in this event against the fees of Rs.250.00 10. PSTs were asked to attend the PST Workshop and each of the participating officer were authorized to draw a sum of Rs.250 towards the registration fees of Rs.1500. 11. Presentation of the Accounts 2005-2006 – Immediate Past President Ln.Venkatachalam, requested for some more time to present the audited accounts for the previous years, due to the ill-health of the previous Treasurer Ln. Chandran. 12. It was resolved that all circulars to the members will be sent through Email/Yahoo Group to save the cost of stationary and postage. 13. Ln. Gopinath N. Minutes of the Closed Door Meeting held at Lions Academy for Blinds, October 8, 2006 – World Service Day

Members present: 7

1. Ln. Vidya K. Murthy, President called the meeting to order and gave the welcome address after the customary Prayer, Flag Salutation and Silence for the cause of world peace. 2. Ln. Guru Krishnamurthy explained about the Family Membership Program and concessions extended by Lions Clubs International. It was resolved that the club should make use of this program and try to increase the membership to atlest 30 before the end of this Lionistic Year. 3. Ln. Gopinath Goswami proposed the new fund raising plan for the upcoming permanent project at Kottivakkam. It was suggested that a program on OLD Hindi Movie Songs be organized with the help of Friends Orchestra at Kamarajar Arangam or any other available auditorium in January or February 2006. It was resolved that the name of Lions Club of Madras Greater may be used for this purpose and that the members would try their level best to sell the tickets and get the sponsorship from various sources. 4. 1. Ln. Vidya K. Murthy, President called the meeting to order. 2. It was resolved that 4 members may be dropped Viz. Ln.Veerabathiran, Ln.Chandran, Ln. Manjula and Ln.Revathi. It was further resolved that the membership dues from Ln.Chandran may be waived on compassionate grounds considering the heavy medical expenses being incurred. 3. Ln. Venkatachalam to speak to Ln.Ramesh about his continuity of membership advise on the dropping him. 4. Ln. Gopinath N. Goswami, has been given free hand to organize the Old Hindi Songs Program for fund raising without any pressure on the members to sell the tickets. 5. Region Meet: It was decided that Rs.200 will be contributed by the club and the remaining Rs.150 will be collected from the members towards the Regional Meet registration fees scheduled on 26.11.2006 (Sunday) at Hotel GRT Grand, Southern Crown, by 10-15 AM. Minutes of the Closed Door Meeting held at Dhyan Research Center, January 13, 2007, 7.00 pm

1. Ln. Vidya K. Murthy, President called the meeting to order and gave the welcome address after the customary Prayer, Flag Salutation and Silence for the cause of world peace. 2. Ln.Gopinath Goswami, Secretary presented the MMR 3. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and after discussions the same was adopted. 4. Members expressed their satisfaction about the Pongal Project at the Corporation School and appreciated about the sweet pongal and the breakfast organized at the Project meting. Members expressed their thanks to Dr.Prasad for organizing breakfast at his hospital. 5. About the Republic day celebrations and visit to Vishranthi was discussed. It was decided to distribute as usual Bread, Biscuits and fruits. Members accepted and Thanked Ln.Ravikumar’s suggestion of going by common transport and after the project visiting the temples at ECR and visit to Mahabalipuram. Ravi also said he will host the Lunch that day being his birthday and Ln.Goswami informed he will host dinner that being his spouse Ln.Geetha’s Birthday. 6. President informed the board about the receipt of official call, and the discussion came about on the payments to MDCCI and MCPFI. It was mentioned in the official call as mandatory and failure to pay the same will deprive us of our credentials. Lion V.Vallabhan informed the board, the developments about the same and we decided to pay the mandatory dues i.e. District and Mutiple only. 7. After the vote of thanks by Ln.Gopinath N.Goswami and for the host meeting adjourned.

1. Meeting called to order by President Ln.Vidya K Murthi 2. After the roll call, we received information of Secretary’s arrival would be delayed. 3. Hence MMR & Minutes of the previous meeting were postponed until his arrival. 4. We discussed about the Preparations. President informed that Quality Inn Sabari was fixed for the same. About the invitees were discussed and finalized. In the absence of the Managing Trustee Lion VGS, who is away in Mumbai, Trustee Lion Guru V Krishnamurthi was asked about the balances in the trust account. Since he could not give exact figures but confident of maintaining the same amount paid by last year, the members agreed and asked the trustee to prepare the cheques as per last year. However trustee informed that he would telephone to other trustees inform the balance and prepare accordingly. 5. Lion V.Vallabhan informed the board about the MDCCI and MDPFI, as he got a message from District as it is voluntary and not mandatory. We decided to pay district dues and international leaving these two items and about the same we decided to discuss in our April Board meeting. 6. Since secretary could not arrive his spouse Lion Geetha gave MMR and Minutes. But already being late, the same were not read.

Dear Fellow Lions,

I am happy to inform you all that our club has received the "DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S THRUST AREA AWARD" for the month of July 2006, as we conducted our project in Corporation Primary School, in line with Lions Literacy Programme (LLP). I will be bringing the award to our next meeting for display.

Lions Family meet was a grand event with more than 1200 registrations in the fully packed airconditioned Chettinad Vidyashram Auditorium and it was indeed an enjoyable evening. Though I was the only member from our club to participate in this Family Meet, it was a pleasant surprise for me, when I was called on the stage to receive the award....!!!

My daughter Jaiwanthi also participated in the fancy dress competition. Yes, you read right....! Jaiwanth became Jaiwanthi on stage with girl baby dress with a pink frock, pink sandals and etc....! Even while giving the name for participation, I gave the name as "My daughter - Jaiwanthi" only. No one could find out what was fancy about her dress, until I disclosed on stage that it was my son Jaiwanth!

It would have been more enjoyable and encouraging if more number of members from our club had participated. I wish we participate in the next District event in good strength from our club.

As usual, we have planned our Tirupati Balaji Darshan trip for this year and it is scheduled on December 2nd and 3rd, 2006. Ln.Guru Krishnamurthy, is in discussion with his friend to arrange an Air Conditioned Volvo Bus and the tentative cost per person is around Rs.1500/-. As per the schedule, we plan to leave on 2nd evening - Darshan at Alamelu Mangapuram - proceed to Tirumala and night stay.

Early morning Balaji Darshan - proceed to Srinivasa Mangapuram and return back to Chennai via Sri Kalahasthi on 3rd December 2006.

As you are aware, it will be cost effective only if the bus capacity is fully utilised and it will be imperative that all of us join this. As Ln.Guru has to confirm the booking, it will be very helpful, if you could kindly reply to this mail immediately and confirm your willingness and ability to join this trip.

You may remember, Prof. Sahayaraj, who had visited our club as a Guest Speaker for Teacher Day Celebrations, had offered to organise a Blood Donation Camp at Loyola College. As he had advised us to contact him during November end, we contacted him and he was kind enough to organise the same.

We will have the Blood Donation Camp at Loyola College on December 7, 2006 (Thurseday) and exact time will be informed shortly. Kindly keep yourself free on this day.

Regading Bhajans, I am trying to bring the Cinema play back singers Harini and her husband Tippu (Raa Raa.... Chandramukhi fame), subject to their availability on Republic Day. It may be worth mentioning that this couple is participating in the Bhajans in Sai Temple every Thurseday.

Mr. Ravikumar has happily offered to host the Lunch for all the members on that day as his Birth Day is also on January 26. As it is also the birthday of Ln.Geetha (my wife), Geetha Goswami has agreed to host the Dinner. It was decided in the Board Meeting recently that we will celebrate the Republic Day Project with a Family Picnic in ECR covering Mahabalipuram and by visiting the important temlpes on the way.

As per the present plan, We will arrange for a bus or a van according to the number of people. The bus will pick up the members from a common assembly point by around 8:00 AM. The breakfast will be served on board, on the way to Vishranthi. After the project we will visit the temples ---- Lunch ------Mahabalipuram ------etc.... and finish early Dinner at around 7:30 PM and return.

This is just a tentative plan and subject to changes as per the number of people visiting. I personally encourage you all participate in this project cum Picnic with your family and friends and make it a grand success.

Both myself and Ravikumar, (hosts) take this opportunity to invite you all for this Project cum Family picnic. Total Collections Rs.43,450 Our Cost: Rs.18,000 Profit for the Club: Rs.25,450

A detailed accounts report has been enclosed herewith in MS Excel worksheet.

Ln.K.N.Krishnamoorthy and Ln.Sivaramakrishnan attended this program besides myself and Ln.Geetha Goswami. Ln.Ravi Kumar had sent his wife and daughter.

My mother joined Play back singer, Anuradha Sriram and other dignitaries in lighting Kuthuvilakku.

The photographs of the program has already been uploaded to our Yahoo Groups Photos section. You may view the same by logging in to our group website http://groups.yahoo.com/group/madrasgreater/ and by clicking the link "Photos" on the left side.

As this entire Fund Raising Program has been organised for our new Permanent Project, I suggest that funds realised be transferred to the newly opened account for Greater Lions Charitable Medical Dispensary at Kottivakkam.

We have another Fund Raising Program on June 30, 2007 at Kamarajar Arangam. I have already invested Rs.28,500 from my personal money towards the advance booking of the hall. As this program is entirely organised by us with bigger budget and higher expectations of the funds, I look forward for a greater participation from every one of our members.
