INFORMATION ABOUT THE FOP

START

The start area is at “Skeppsbron”. Athletes will start from a pontoon (0,6m high) and stand in a starting position approximately 70cm wide. The Race Referee with the assistance of ITU Technical Officials, who are assigned to the start, will start each race.

The athletes are required to leave their last minute gear at the swim start inside a dedicated box and the LOC will carry those bags back to the Athletes’ Lounge.

SWIM COURSE

There is one lap to swim. The first turn is in 340m. You will exit via stairs on the side of the start pontoon.

The water temperature in “Strömmen” at the end of August can be expected to be roughly 15‐19°C.

You will find actual information about the water temperature on the website: stockholm.triathlon.org

BIKE COURSE

Generally flat profile with the exception of the Palace hill. There are five laps of 4,2 km to ride. The route is technically demanding, due to many changes of direction and tight turns. Generally good tarmac, approximately 1km of cobblestone per lap. Athletes who are lapped are taken out of the race. The “first runner, last biker”‐scenario is applicable for this event. In this case the biker will be taken off the course.

WHEEL STATIONS

There will be two wheel stations. The first one will be a neutral wheel station with LOC provided wheels, located shortly after the downhill after the transition area. The second station will be adjacent to the penalty box, just before entering the transition area at Skeppsbron. Here you can place your own wheels.

PENALTY BOX

The penalty box is 20m from the entrance to the transition area.

RUN COURSE

Generally flat course except of the Palace hill. There are two laps of 2.5km to run. Two 180° turns per lap. Surface mostly cobblestone and tarmac.

AID STATIONS

The aid stations are located on the run course at km 0.0 and km 1.3. Closed 0.5 liter bottles of sealed water will be handed out.

ATHLETES AND TEAM OFFICIALS GUIDE (v1.0) | Page 13 of 16

WEATHER CONDITIONS

Despite its northern location, Stockholm has relatively mild weather compared to other locations at similar latitude, or even farther south. Temperatures in August range between 13°C to 20°C with an average of 16.3°C.

RESULTS

Results will be uploaded live at the ITU’s official website: www.triathlon.org
