The Herald can also be an expression of our desire to be like Him: to be bearers of the Good News in our words and deeds; that is, evangelizers. Like Him, we are called upon to be heralds of truth, of love, of hope, of peace, of mercy. Let’s pray that ‘The Herald’, our parish newsleer, will be an effecve instrument to fulfill our vision and mission - to be good and faithful stewards by heralding the good news of Jesus Christ, our King, through our love and service. 2 WORSHIP MINISTRY Flores de Mayo Activities Conclude with Procession and Catechism Class Graduation Daily Flores de Mayo masses had These were all held at 5:20 pm at the been mounted by the parish, with lay Lower Church, except for the organizations, PPC ministries, and weekend masses which were at the Main Church.

International Marian Association Letter to Cardinal Mueller 31 May 2017 Eminence, Gerhard Cardinal Müller Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine on Faith Piazza del S. Uffizio, 11 00193 Roma, Italy Your Eminence: We, Executive Members of the International Marian Association, which consti- tutes over 100 theologians, cardinals, bishops, clergy, religious and lay leaders from 5 continents, wish to, first of all, thank you for the many excellent and courageous articulations and defenses of our holy Catholic Faith, as contained in your recently released, The Cardinal Müller Report. At the same time, we are obliged to express to you our grave concern regarding your comment from the text when you state: “(for example, the Church … does not call her [Mary] “co-redeemer,” because the only Redeemer is Christ, and she herself has been redeemed sublimiore modo, as Lumen Gentium [n. 53] says, and serves this redemption wrought exclusively by Christ… (p. 133). You unfortunately refer to this term as an example of false exaggeration: “falsely exaggerating per excessum, attributing to the Virgin what is not attributable to her” (Ibid.). Your Eminence, in making this statement, albeit as a private theologian since a public interview carries no authoritative or magisterial status, you have publicly stated: 1) a theologically and historically erroneous position, since the Church undeni- ably has and does call Mary a co-redeemer; and 2) a position which, in itself, materially dissents from the repeated and authoritative teachings of the Papal Magisterium, the historical teachings from your own Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith (Holy Office)and other Vatican Congregations; the pre- and post-conciliar teachings of the Magisterium as expressed through numerous cardinals, bishops and national episcopal conferences; teachings of the broader Church, inclusive of multiple can- onized saints and blessed who all do, in fact, assent to and theologically expand upon the authentic Magisterial teachings of the Church concerning Mary as a co- redeemer.

  • From Ad Gentes to Inter Gentes
NEW DAYBREAK IN MISSION: FROM AD GENTES TO INTER GENTES John Mansford Prior, SVD Ledalero Institute, Indonesia 1. Rupture or Continuity? On the evening of 11th October 1962, John XXIII spoke from the heart to the thousands gathered in St Peter’s square. As the moon shone above, he spoke of the universal council, which he had opened that very morning, as a “new daybreak”. He himself already knew something we had yet to learn: that he had cancer and had just seven months to live. In the evening of his life he bequeathed to us a new dawn: a church of hope and renewal. Fired by a “new Pentecost,”1 the church was about to embark creatively on a new phase in mission. As a high school student in Britain I followed the Johannine council session by session through the Catholic and secular press, and fully concur with the recent evaluation of Time journalist Robert Blair Kaiser: John Mansford Prior, SVD has been working in eastern Indonesia since 1973. After 14 years ministering in a town parish (1974-1981) and a parish in the interior (1981- 1987), John has been teaching at Ledalero Institute of Philosophy, Maumere. Doctorate in Intercultural Theology from Birmingham University UK (1987). John is author of seven books, over 150 articles and editor or co-editor of over 50 other volumes. Active in Evangelisation Office of the FABC since 1990, consultor to the Pontifical Council for Culture (1994-2009), coordinator of the Biblical Studies and Mission Study Group (BISAM) of the International Association for Mission Studies (IAMS) (2004-2012), Advisory Board Intercultural Bible Collective, Vrieje Universiteit, Amsterdam (2008-), Asian representative on the board of the International Association of Catholic Missiologists (IACM) (2010-2013).
