Mr. Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president, inaugurated Indoor Cricket Stadium at Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket Academy in Pune Pune got its First Indoor cricket academy when Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Mr. Shashank Manohar inaugurated the facility at PCMCS’ Varroc Vengsarkar indoor cricket Academy at Thergaon, Pune on dtd.22nd Aug’2010. Hence Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket Academy started the indoor cricket academy to avoid player to stay away from game for four months. Manohar said- “All facilities are made available by the Varroc and PCMC, hence players should avail all these best available facilities and make their country proud”. He also mentioned that Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar is an excellent batsman and the new young players can take guidance from him for the betterment in their performances. He also added that it depends on the local players that how they take this opportunity and how they make the academy proud. During inaugural function Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar said -”Players will not have to wait for the seasons to get over” as usually during the monsoon, players have to keep off the game and when they come back to practice after four months, they take time to adjust. He also added “we have good support from Varroc and PCMC, who allowed us to use the indoor facilities” Local MLA Mr. Laxmanrao Jagtap said- “Pune is now known for the studies but I have a strong belief that in coming future Pune will also be known for sports” Apart from Mr. Manohar & Mr. Vengsarkar, Mr. M.P Sharma (Associate Vice President-Varroc Group), Mr. Vinit Tyagi (VPPL-Pune region Head, Varroc Group), Mr. Rajesh Baheti (Sr. Manager- Materials Varroc Group), Local MLA Mr. Laxmanrao Jagtap, Corporators Mr. Hanumant Gawade, Mr. Nana Kate, Mr. Siddheshwar Barne, Mr. Srirang Barane, Mr. Satish Darekar and PCMC commissioner Mr. Aashish Sharma were present for the inauguration. Dilip Vengsarkar appealed to the trainees to make most of this opportunity. “You have the talent. Put it to best use. Some of you might become future Tendulkar and Dhonis”. This Cricket Indoor Hall is seventh in India, Third in Maharashtra and First in Pune. In this academy there are 4 pitches in the Hall with good lightings and more than 150 players who are U-12, U-14 & U-19 and getting free coaching in two sessions i.e. in morning and evening..
