Katherine Hall Page : Small Plates: Short Fiction (Faith Fairchild) before purchasing it in order to gage whether or not it would be worth my time, and all praised Small Plates: Short Fiction (Faith Fairchild):

DisappointingBy A readerI thought the different stories were good and especially enjoyed the one where the man tried to kill his wife so he could become a widower. He was in an unhappy marriage and hoped for lots of attention from women once he was free. It has a wonderful ending.I was disappointed with the last story which the author has used in another book. She has kept the names and plot with a few changes. I feel I was cheated. I don't know why she did that. I'll keep reading her, but----.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wish there more plates in this cupboard!By EJPKatherine Hall Page offers a nice array of stories that capture the enduring New England spirit of mystery and adventure so typical of her full-length novels. I liked each of these tales, for different reasons - surprise ending, strong character development in a few pages, introspective look at a closed fishing society, and more. "The Two Marys" could have been expanded into a full-length book, and thus avoided the somewhat-rushed conclusion. I look forward with pleasure to each new Faith Fairchild offering, and this collection helps fill in the time to await the next book. I wish Small Plates contained at least twice as many stories, but those presented are very satisfying.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Different take on some story lines, entertaining.By Judy J. BurkhardtThe stories were good, but not what I expected. A couple of them left me hanging. Not the ending I have come to expect in Page's books. It did have good story lines, but I prefer a novel. These all ended too quickly. I did like the characters and they were well developed for short stories. I would recommend this as it is easy to read a couple of stories at the end of the day. I would recommend it.

Katherine Hall Page, author of the beloved Faith Fairchild series, invites you to enjoy her first-ever collection of short fictionKatherine Hall Page's tales will take readers from the skyscrapers of Manhattan to the dunes of Cape Cod and even "Across the Pond." A newlywed discovers her husband's ingenious hiding places for objects like spare keys. One spinster turns to friends for help with the supernatural. Another unmarried woman finds a baby named Christopher in her barn on Christmas Eve in Maine. A British bride calls on Faith and her sister for help after a series of alarming "accidents."
