D.O. RIBEIRO TREIXADURA 2015
SENDA VERDE is a collection of artisanal wines from unique regions in northern Spain that follow the 43°N parallel, stretching from coastal Galicia eastward along the northern coastline. In contrast to the rest of Spain, this area is lush and green UPC: 0 89832 92025 0 from oceanic and geologic influences. The region is referred to as 12pk/750ml “España Verde” (Green Spain).
APPELLATION: D.O. Ribeiro VARIETAL: 100% Treixadura VINEYARD: The Treixadura grapes are sourced from the banks of Miño River, belonging to the D.O. Ribeiro which is the most ancient appellation in the region of Galicia. The vines are arranged in the “espaldera” (trellis) system. The average age of the vines is about 25 years old and harvested at 3.35 tons/acres. The soil is a mixture of slate and granite, with presence of alluvial stones and gravel which improves the soil composition. HARVEST: The grapes are hand harvested to avoid any damage to the skins. It is a very labor intensive harvest because of the steep vineyard slopes alongside the Miño River. Once at the winery, the fruit are selected by quality and then destemmed and crushed. The grapes are pressed using just the “mosto yema” (free run juice). The must is then racked during a 12-hour period, followed by the removal of the solid lees. The fermentation moves to a lower temperature (17ºC) for about 15-20 days. After the final fermentation, the wine is racked once again and maintained on fine lees for an additional 3 months, which allows smoothness and persistence on the palate. ALCOHOL: 13.5% COLOR: Bright golden color with green highlights AROMA: Elegant and complex, notes of white flowers, candied orange peel and ripe melon with fresh herbal hints. FLAVOR: Full and persistent with lush texture on the palate. The finish is velvety with beautiful savory flavors. FOOD PAIRING: Our Treixadura is a beautiful and aromatic white wine from Ribeiro, making this an excellent choice to pair with steamed fish and shellfish, white meat spicy dishes as well as for sipping on its own.
