Persistent gender inequality may threaten economic growth and/or social progress.1 At the most micro level, discrimination impedes girls and women from achieving their individual hopes and dreams. Through its Millennium Development Goals, the United Nations has championed an increase in equality for women and girls across different sectors by 2015.2 Despite a push to promote females worldwide, one example of where progress remains stagnant is the U.S. film industry. Research reveals that the percentage of female speaking characters in top-grossing movies has not meaningfully changed in roughly a half of a century.3 Further, women are often stereotyped and sexualized when they are depicted in popular content. Occupationally, our previous research shows that few women hold positions of power and importance on screen. While Hollywood is quick to capitalize on new audiences and opportunities abroad, the industry is slow to progress in creating compelling and complex roles for females.

Konflik bermula apabila Singham cuba menjejaki kuasa-kuasa gelap yang terlibat dalam kes rasuah melibatkan nama-nama besar dalam sistem politik di India. Dalam menangani isu ini, Singham terpaksa menempuhi pelbagai halangan dan dugaan demi menegakkan keadilan dan amanah yang dipikul. Ternyata jalan cerita dan lakonan yang diberikan oleh aktor Ajay Devgan sebagai DCP Bajirao Singham, Ketua Polis Kanan di Mumbai dalam filem kepolisian arahan Rohit Shetty bertajuk “Singham Returns” begitu menyerlah. Berbeza dengan imej polis-polis India dalam filem Hindustan sebelum ini, kali ini gambaran imej polis dibersihkan menerusi watak Singham yang berusaha membanteras masalah disiplin, rasuah, gangster dan sebagainya. Singham bangkit membanteras sistem politik dan perundangan di India yang digambarkan penuh dengan gejala rasuah, kuku besi, wang gelap dan hak kaum wanita diketepikan. Bergandingan dengan heroin Kareena Kapoor selain dibantu pelakon Dayanand Shetty, dan Anupam Kher, filem “Singham Returns” bakal menemui penonton Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) pada 27 Julai ini, pukul 10.00 malam di TV2. Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgan) dipindahkan ke Mumbai dan mendapati bahawa salah seorang ahli pasukannya (Mahesh) ditemui mati dengan beg besar wang. Bajirao memutuskan untuk membongkar kebenaran tersembunyi. Dia bertembung dengan Satyaraj Chandar turut dikenali sebagai Babaji (Amole Gupte) yang mempunyai hubungan berprofil tinggi dengan ahli politik. Dalam tempoh tersebut, Guruji (Anupam Kher), dibunuh oleh Babaji, walaupun Singham hadir di tempat kejadian. Dia berjanji membalas dendam.
