GST Mapper© MDC/MP Navigator is an integrated interface for GPS/AVL that allows you to display your current location, your sister unit locations, routing, mapping, navigation and CAD linking for receiving and displaying incidents (Tags).

Scenarios: •Enables Deputies to find or search for locations, supporting units, and incidents.

•Provides the functions to generate a route to an incident, sister unit, or manually input an address via a local GIS map or navigation screen.

•Deputies\Officers have the ability to view various map layers including aerial imagery and night\day contrasting views for tactical needs when setting parameters, and various other functions and scenarios that will be addressed throughout the training. GST Mapper MDC components

I can’t see myself or my current location on the map.

• Confirm that the center Poll button is turned on, indicated by the green crosshair • Confirm that you are receiving valid GPS by reviewing the GST Mobile Console Icon located in the systems task tray. A Green indicates valid or good GPS. A Red indicates invalid or bad GPS.

•Invalid or Bad GPS may occur due to the unit being in a location in which it cannot receive a signal from a GPS satellite. For example, a parking structure, sub-parking structure, in close proximity to a high rise building, etc.

Trouble Shooting

I can’t seem to see my sister vehicles

• Confirm that there is currently a valid data connection. The user will need to confirm if they are able to receive communication traffic on the network. Confirm if their air card, modem, Gobi connection, as well as any mobile data network managers are enabled.

•If network communication filtering software such as Net motion is being used, confirm that the software is enabled to allow data communication.

•If the above has been confirmed and you are still unable to see units within your near proximity, however, you are able to see other units that are a distance away, this may be an indicator that the AVL locator button is turned on. You will need to select this button to turn the AVL locator function off.

Trouble Shooting

I have an incident\tag in CAD but it does not show up on the map display.

• An incident that has displayed in CAD but not on the map display may be a result of a temporary drop in network coverage in which the data did not completely transmit. If a user is aware that they have an incident\tag available, the user can select the request CAD button to pull down the assigned incident\tag to the unit.

Trouble Shooting

There are several units displayed on the map at the same location, however some of the unit ID’s\ call signs are not displayed, Why?

•The map display can only display a limited amount of labels when there are multiple units at the same location that may overlap each other. To clarify which units are at the location, use the identify button and click in the center of the group of units. The displayed at this location will be displayed in the identify panel.

Trouble Shooting

Every time I zoom in on the map or pan to the location I am driving to or looking at, the map display moves back to where I am currently at.

•This is an indication that the center poll button is currently enabled. The Center Poll button is enabled by default so that a unit can see themselves on the map as they route to a location. However, if the user attempts to zoom or pan to a different area, the map will automatically pan and zoom back to their current location. To avoid this, the user will need to disable the center poll function first, and then pan or zoom to the desired location. Once the user has viewed and identified the area they want to look at, it is recommended that they turn the center poll function back on.

Trouble Shooting

When I selected route to or navigate to the location of another unit, the unit was not there when I reached the destination.

•When a user selects to route or navigate to another unit, the location of the unit is determined at the time that the route or navigation route is selected. If the destination unit has moved, the defined route will only route to the original determined location. The route to the destination unit does not recalculate as the destination unit is moving. The map display or navigation display will only re-route based on your current unit’s location.
