D:\Magazine 2018-19\Magz Final Milagres Miracle 2018-19 Association Wise Report Students’ Council The Inauguration of Student council, various associations and clubs for the academic year 2018- 19 was held on July 17, 2018. The program began with an invocation led by college choir. Ms. Eva Manorama, HOD of Commerce,welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the chief guest. Chief guest Prof. Edmund Frank, Dean, PGDBM, St.Aloysius College, Rev. Fr Michael L Santhumayor, Principal, Prof. Lourdusamy, Academic advisor, Mrs.Cecilia Pereira, Vice President, Parish Pastoral Parishad, Mr. Ronald Pinto, PTA President, Mr.Cassin Rodrigues, Vice Principal, Mr. Savio D’Souza, CPL, Mr. Jaison Alistor, ACPL, Ms. Glenita Menezes, Secretary, Mr. Mohammed Irshan, Joint Secretarywere present. Dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Principal administered the Oath to Mr.SavioD’Souza and to other office bearers of Students’ council. Chief Guest addressed the gathering by his encouraging words saying everyone has to take problems as challenges and push ourselves towards success. He also spoke about the importance of Students’ council and the role of the same. Principal in his Presidential speech spoke about the college Motto- Passion for Perfection and congratulated all the members of the students’ council. The chief guest for the program was Dr. Carmelita Goveas,former Principal of Besant Evening College. Other dignitaries on the dais were Rev. Fr Valerian D’Souza, Correspondent, Milagres Educational Institution, Mrs. Cecilia Pereira, Vice president of Milagres Parish Pastoral Parishad, Rev. Fr Michael Santhumayor, Campus Director, Rev. Fr Maxim D’Souza, Vice Principal of High School Section, Mrs. Elveera Lasrado, Principal, CBSE school and Prof Lourdusamy, Academic Advisor.Management members and PTA President and Vice President were also present. The function began with a prayer by degree Staff followed by a welcome address by Rev. Fr Michael Santhumayor. All the dignitaries on the daisparticipated in cutting the teachers day cake. The chief guest Dr. Carmelita Goveas addressed the gathering. In her speech she focused on staff’s commitment to the institution.Rev. Fr Valerian D’Souza, Correspondent, Milagres Educational Institutionsconveyed the message of the day. The function was compered by Ms. Anusha Jose, Faculty of degree section. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Anju Thomas of degree section. Farewell 2019 On 13 April 2019, Farewell day was observed for the final year B Com and BBM students in the college auditorium. Mr Shaifuddin of II B Com A welcomed the gathering. Prof. Lourdusamy in his address said that students’ life is a golden life. Each student here has made the best use of the opportunities gieven to them. He also wished them best for their future endeavors. Principal Rev. Fr Michael Santhumayor invited students to be the embodiment of the college motto ‘Passion for Perfection.’ The program came to an end with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. gavin Lobo of II B Com. 32 Milagres Miracle 2018-19 Literary Association An association which strives to transform our plans into actions and envisions our dreams into reality by providing a forum for the students to empower their literary skills and capabilities by instilling love towards different languages. It is a forum where the lovers of literature, the readers and writers unite. • English Calligraphy Competition: With the objective of bringing out artistic and creative writings, Calligraphy Competition was conducted on July 20, 2018, Friday, between 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The text to be artistically and creatively written was “Smile is an Essential way for theLanguage of Love.”57 students took part in this Competition. The winners of the event were: First Nameera Fathima I FND Second Sujana I BHS Third Ramsheem II BBA • English Pick and Speak Competition: With the objective of improving the communicative and English speaking skills, English Pick and Speak Competition was conducted on July 27, 2018, Friday between 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. 12 students took part in this Competition. Com Third Neha Salian I FND • English Essay Writing Competition: It was conducted on October 15, 2018, Monday, between 4:10 PM to 5:10 PM. The topic for Essay Writing was – “Is Cleanliness Necessary?” 10 students took part in this Competition. The winners of the event were: First Vinisha Twinkle Pinto I B. Com B Second Riana D’Cunha III B. Com B Third Simran Jemima Sayed I B. Com A • English Poetry Writing Competition: It was conducted on February 20, 2019 Thursday, between 4:10 PM to 4:30 PM. Different topics were given to the students. Dry land farming in India accounts for 63% of the cultivated land of 144 million hectares. Different types of problems which are related to watershed like depletion in water table, depletion of sources, scarcity of water, floods, reduction in water carrying capacity of streams are the biggest challenge to an engineer. The main intension is to utilize the water resources of that particular area. Mapping is done using satellite images by remote sensing technique. The data which is used for the project work is of LISS-4 type. The topographical sheets and geological maps Gurupura river (D43U13) are used and processed using ArcGIS and ERDAS softwares. Special attention was paid to rich vegetation area and average vegetation area to know the ground water. The drainage maps, base maps, geology maps and geomorphology maps were prepared in ArcGIS. And the satellite images were processed to produce the different color combinations using ERDAS softwares. The land use and land cover map is prepared using satellite data which offers new opportunity for planning, design and management of water resources of the study area. The watershed management project will utilize the complete water resources of the study area.
