Phadke, Project Delivery Manager, I.B.M., Pune, Deputy Chairman of our Governing Council Sri Shirthady Sampath Samrajya, esteemed members of our Management, Heads and faculty members of all the Institutions in the campus, beloved colleagues, office bearers of the Students Council, office bearers and members of Alumni Association, my dear students, members of Press & Media, Ladies and Gentlemen, I take this opportunity to present this brief Annual Report of our Polytechnic for the academic year 2017-18. S. N. Mudbidri Polytechnic, named after a great Philanthropist Late S. N. Mudbidri, was established in the year 1984 with a noble intension of providing technical education to the deprived youth of this region. This Polytechnic is managed by S.M.C Trust, Moodbidri and The Academy of General Education, Manipal. This Polytechnic is affiliated to the Board of Technical Examinations, Bangalore and is one of the reputed Polytechnics in Karnataka. All the Diploma programmes offered in this Polytechnic are approved by A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi. Our Polytechnic offers three year’s engineering Diploma courses in seven disciplines namely, Automobile, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, and Mechatronics Engineering. Admissions: During this academic year the admission of students for the Govt aided courses, Govt surrendered seats of unaided courses, and admission of I.T.I. students under lateral entry scheme were made through our nodal Centre, i.e. Karnataka (Govt.) Polytechnic, through online interactive (online option entry) counseling. The total strength of students for this academic year is 907. Staff Strength: We have well trained and experienced faculty members. At present 30 engineering graduates, 9 Post graduates, 1 Doctorate, 4 Diploma holders in the cadre of Lecturers, 7 Diploma holders in the cadre of Instructors, 2 Junior Instructors, 1 Mechanic, 1 System Administrator, 1 Librarian and 26 supporting staff altogether 82 permanent staff members and one part time Lecturer in are working here. Appointments / Resignations: On this occasion I would like to welcome faculty members Sri Prashanth Kumar, Ms. Rashmitha, and Sri Sandeep K., Lecturers in Computer Science & Engg, Sri Padeep Kumar C.S., Lecturer in Automobile Engg, Sri Prasad B.G., Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ravalanatha Prabhu M., and Ms.Thejaswini R., Lecturers in Civil Engineering who have joined our institution during this academic year. I recognize the services of Ms.Pooja, Sri Krishnaraja, Lecturers in Computer Science Engg, Sri Anudeep K.S., Lecturer in Mechanical Engg, Sri Ganesh Bhat P.V., and Uttam P.U., Lecturers in the Dept. of Civil Engineering who have left our institution during this academic year. Retirement under Superannuation: I also recognize the services of Sri Surendra Kava, Lecturer,Dept. of Automobile Engineering who was retired under superannuation on 30th June 2017.

Laboratories & Workshops: We have well equipped workshops and laboratories in all the departments. All the necessary equipment has been procured. To tune ourselves to the changing technology our laboratories are updated and equipped by providing additional laboratory equipment worth Rs.12,55,553/- during the year under report. Language laboratory is set up for the use of both staff and students. We have received machine shop equipment worth Rs. 70,00,000/- and 8 LCD projectors from Manipal University during this academic year. All the heads of departments are provided with laptops. Library & reading room: At present we have 24,269 volumes of technical books. We have purchased text books worth Rs.49,865/- during this academic year. 25 national and international technical journals, several technical and non-technical magazines, Kannada and English newspapers and monthly/ fortnightly magazines are also provided for the use of our staff members & students. Students’ performance in the semester examinations:  In the even semester diploma examinations held during the months of April/ May 2017: Out of 943 students appeared for the examinations 128 students passed with Distinction, 334 students passed in first class, and 85 students passed in second class 195 students were promoted. The overall percentage is 89%.  In the odd semester diploma examinations held during November/ December 2017: Out of 889 students appeared for the examinations, 132 students passed with Distinction, 281 students passed in First Class, 136 students passed in Second Class and 340 students were promoted to their even semester classes. Jyothi, Lecturer in E&C Engg, attended a short term workshop on “Authoring Tools in Multi Media” held at N.I.T.T.T.R., Chennai, from 27th February to 3rd March 2017.  Sri J.J.Pinto, Principal, S.N.M.Polytechnic and Smt.Noronha Tarina Rita, Selection Grade Lecturer in E&E Engg attended a short term training programme on “N.B.A. Accreditation Procedures” from 21st to 23rd March 2017 held at N.I.T.T.T.R., Chennai.  Principal Sri J.J.Pinto has attended a short term training programme on “ Life Skills and Counseling Services ” held from 10th April to 15th April 2017 at NIMHANS, Bangalore.  Sri Dhavalakeerthi, Sl.Gr.Lecturer in Electrical & Electronics Engg was appointed by B.T.E., Bangalore as Chief Superintendent of Examinations to conduct Semester (April/May) 2017 examinations at this Centre.  Sri R.Ganeshan, Sl.Gr.Lecturer in Automobile Engg, Sri Harish Tantri M., Lecturer inE & E Engg and Sri Sudarshan P. Divya Shenoy, Sri Udaya, Sri Rohith Kumar N., Sri Nagashayana S.H., Sri Suresh Bhandary, Sri Guruprasad Prabhu M., Sri Rajendra, Sri Venkatesh Prabhu M., Smt.Priya H.S., Sri Mallikarjuna G., Sri Rajendra K., Sri Pradeep Kumar C.S., were appointed by Board of Technical Examinations as Examiners to conduct Practical examinations of both April/ May 2017 and Nov/ Dec 2017 at various Polytechnics.  Sri Harsha, Lecturer in E&C Engg, and Sri Ganesh Acharya attended a meeting at Directorate of Technical Education, Bangalore regarding the online admissions.  Sri Gurudas S.P., Sri Harsha, and Smt.Shobha A., were assigned the duties related to the admission of students to our Polytechnic through online interactive option entry counseling, at Karnataka Polytechnic, Mangalore.  Sri Mallikarjuna G., Lecturer in Science attended workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights” held from 27th June to 1st July 2017 at N.I.T.T.T.R., Chennai.  Sri J.J.Pinto, Principal attended A.I.C.T.E-British Council sponsored workshop-II on “ Further Education Leadership Development Programme ” under UKIERI Phase –III, from 29th July to 2nd August 2017, held at C.V.Raman College of Engineering, Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha.  The “90th Birthday Celebration” of Dr. H.Shantharam, Administrative Officer, Academy of General Education, Manipal was organized by Sri Mahaveera College Trust on 26th August 2017 at Sri Sri Mahaveera College, Moodbidri. All the teaching & non-teaching staff members of our Polytechnic attended this programme.  Sri J.J.Pinto, Principal has attended third workshop on Leadership and Management under A.I.C.T.E., UKIERI Phase-III held at Swami Keshavanand Institute of Technology, Management and Gramothan, Ramngaria, Jagatpura, Jaipur, Rajasthan between 3rd to 7th October 2017.  Smt. Sowmya M. J., Librarian, attended a short term training programme on “Open source Digital Software (OSPACE)” held at N.I.T.T.T.R., Chennai from 9th October to 13th October 2017.  The Board of Technical Examinations, Bangalore has appointed Sri J.J.Pinto, Principal as Chief Superintendent of Examinations, to conduct the Semester Diploma (Nov/ Dec) 2017 examinations in our Polytechnic, from 7th November to 25th November 2017 (Forenoon).  Sri Suresh D.B., Lecturer in Automobile Engg, was appointed by B.T.E., Bangalore as Chief Superintendent of Examinations to conduct semester (Nov/ Dec) 2017 Diploma theory examinations in our Polytechnic from the afternoon of 25th November 2017 to 21st December 2017.  Sri R.Ganeshan, Sl.Gr.Lecturer in Automobile Engg is appointed as Chief Observer of Examinations to conduct semester (Nov/ Dec) 2017 Diploma examinations at K.V.G.Polytechnic, Sullia.  Sri Venkatesh Prabhu M., Sl.Gr.Lecturer Science is appointed as Chief Observer of Examinations to conduct semester (Nov/ Dec) 2017 Diploma examinations at Kamath Polytechnic, Kundapura.  Sri Dhavalakeerthi, Sl. Gr. Lecturer in E&E Engg is appointed as Chief Observer of Examinations to conduct semester (Nov/ Dec) 2017 Diploma examinations at N. R. A. M. Polytechnic, Nitte.  Sri Sudarshan P. Kini, Lecturer in E&E Engg is appointed as Deputy Chief Observer of Examinations to conduct semester (Nov/ Dec) 2017 Diploma examinations at S. N. S. Polytechnic, Sunkadakatte, Bajpe.  Sri Sudheeraj, Sri Pradeep Rao K.B., were appointed as Examiners to conduct practical examinations of Nov/Dec 2017.  Our faculty members attended the Valuation works related to the April/ May 2017 and November/ December 2017 Semester Diploma examinations held at Mangalore, during the months of June and December 2017 respectively. A few faculty members were allotted the duties of revaluation.  Sri J.J.Pinto, Principal has attended the fourth workshop on “ Leadership and Management under A.I.C.T.E., UKIERI Phase-III ” held at S.P.College of Engineering, Mumbai, Bhavan’s Campus, Munshi Nagar Andheri (West), Mumbai 400058 between 12th to 14th January 2018.  Sri Suresh D.B., Lecturer in Automobile Engg, has attended a short term training programme on “ Advances in Welding & Manufacturing” held at N.I.T.T.T.&R., Chennai from 5th to 9th February 2018.

Students’activities and achievements:-  The Annual Day Celebrations for the year 2016-17 were held on 23rd March 2017. Sri M. Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary, Canara High School Association, Mangalore was our Chief Guest. Sri Ravikiran Hegde, Project/ Progam Manager, I.B.M. Pvt. Ltd., represented our Alumni. Sri K. Abhayachandra Jain, former Minister for Youth Services & Fisheries, Govt. of Karnataka and Chairman of our Governing Council chaired the celebrations.  Teachers' day Celebrations were held in our Polytechnic on 5th September 2017.  Ayudha Pooja was celebrated in our Polytechnic on 28th September 2017. On this occasion department wise “Mantap Decoration” competitions were held to the students of all the branches. Dept. of Automobile Engg, Dept.of Electronics & Communication Engg, and Dept.of Electrical & Electronics Engg., secured first, second and third prizes respectively.  Club “Tech Forum” visited “Christha Sevaake Ashram” an Old Age Orphanage at on 17th October 2017 to celebrate Deepavali. About 60 students and 5 faculty members from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering visited the Ashram. Students entertained the dwellers by dancing, singing, skits etc. Students dined and shared with the dwellers. A sum of Rs. 3500 was donated to the Ashram by “Tech Forum”.  Talents Day Competitions were held on 22nd February 2018. Dept.of Automobile Engg, Dept.of Computer Science & Engg., and Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engg., secured the first, second and third prizes respectively.  Four teams of students from our Polytechnic accompanied by Sri Harsha, Lecturer in E&C Engineering participated in the National Science Day Project Exhibition held on 28th February 2018 at Pilikula Regional Science Centre Society, Vamanjoor, Mangalore.

Extensive Survey Project: As per the curriculum prescribed by the Board of Technical Examinations, sixth semester students of Diploma in Civil Engg conducted an extensive survey project near Shree Harihareshwara Temple, Durga, Karkala Taluk, Udupi District between 21st to 28th December 2017. 34 students accompanied by our faculty members of the Department of Civil Engg successfully conducted the extensive survey camp.

Special achievements:  Our students participated in the Do – It - Yourself – 2017 competition at Govt. Polytechnic, Bagalkote on 5th and 6th March 2017. Our teams of E&C Engg. secured the first place in the State for the project “Automatic plastic disposal machine and multitool” The demonstration of the project was published in all the leading news channels of Karnataka.  Our team of Mechanical Engg secured second place for their project named “Remote controlled coconut tree climbing machine” in the state.  Six students from the Dept of Mechanical Engg and two students from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engg participated in the first State level I.ST.E. Polytechnic Students Convention held at Aryabharathi Polytechnic,Tumkur on 22nd February 2018.

Industrial visits:  Final year students of Electronics & Communication Engg visited Canara Lighting Industries, Mulky on 16th July 2017.  Students of final year Electrical & Electronics Engg visited Canara Lighting Industries, Mulky on 16th July 2017.  Students of second year Electrical & Electronics Engineering visited the Hydro Electric Power Plant of Soham Mannapithlu Power Pvt. Ltd., Taccode, on 21th August 2017.  Final year students of Mechanical Engg visited various industries at Dharwad and Goa, between 3rd to 7th October 2017.  Students of final year Automobile Engg visited various industries at Bangalore and Mysore from 9th to 14th October 2017.  Final year students of Mechatronics Engg visited S.K.F.Boilers Pvt.Ltd., Bannadka, Belvai on 14th October 2017.  Students of final year Electrical & Electronics Engineering visited various industries at Mysore between 23rd to 25th February 2018.  Second year students of Electrical & Electronics Engg visited B.S.N.L. office at Mangalore on 3rd March 2018.  Second year students of Mechatronics Engg visited M/s Lamina Foundries Limited, Nitte on 24th February 2018.  Our students of second year E&C Engg M/s A.C.E. Foods Pvt Limited, Ganjimutt, on 5th March 2018. Implant Training:  Final year students of Diploma in Civil Engg attended one day awareness & training programme on “Brick Vault Roof Construction” held at Nirmithi Kendra, Surathkal on 29th August 2017.  A batch of seven students of E&C Engg undergone training at Electronic Systems & Services, Mangalore.  Seven students of III DMC undergone in plant training at Jinaprabha Refregeration, and Ideal Anupama Feeds, Moodbidri between 16th to 24th Dec.2017.  Four students of final year Diploma in Mechanical Engg undergone training at Udaya Aluminium Industries, Manipal between 2nd to 8th Jan.2018.  Three students of final year D.M.C undergone in plant training at M/s Lamina Industries, Nitte. Seminars/ Conferences / Lectures conducted by eminent personalities :  A seminar on “Estimation, Wiring, Placement & Training” was held in our Polytechnic on 10th August 2017. Sri G.B.Praveen, Asst.Professor, Dept. of E&E Engg, Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Mijar, Moodbidri was the resource person.  A training programme on “ First Aid and Disaster Management” in our Polytechnic jointly organized the N.S.S.Units of S.N.M.Polytechnic and Rotary Club of Moodbidri in association with Indian Red Cross Society, Puttur on 19th August 2017. Sri Shrikanth Kamath, President of Rotary Club, Moodbidri, Sri Jayaram Kotian, Director, Youth Services, Rotary Club, Moodbidri, Sri Mohammed Arif, Secretary of Rotary Club Moodbidri, Sri Oscar Anand, Chairman of Red Cross Society, Puttur were present during this Training programme. Principal Sri J.J.Pinto presided over. Dr.Kumar V.L.S, B.DS, M.Sc. in Disaster Preparedness & Management, was the resource person. 125 students attended this programme.  Two days’ workshop on “Android App Development” in association with Entrench Electronics Pvt. Ltd, New-Delhi under IIT Hyderabad was held in our Polytechnic on 23rd and 24th August 2017. 42 students of our Polytechnic attended this workshop.  The Dept. of Computer Science, SNM Polytechnic, Moodbidri organized, a workshop session on “ASP.NET” on 10.10.2017.  The Dept. of Computer Science, S.N.M. Polytechnic, Moodbidri has organized a session on “Road Safety” on 14.10.2017 in our Polytechnic. Sri Shivaprasad Hegde, J.T.O., A.G. Soans I.T.I, Moodbidri was the resource person.  The seminars on the topics, “Microwave & Wireless Technology”, and “ARM & its Applications”, were held on 25th October 2017 to the fourth semester Diploma students of E&C Engineering in our Polytechnic. The seminars on the topics “Memories & programmable Devices”, and “Applications of Electronics in Music, Audio & Video” were also held on 26th and 30th October 2017 respectively. Sri Dony Armstrong D Souza, Senior Assistant Professor in E&C Engg, Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engg was the resource person.  A short term training programme on “Maintenance of Computer Systems” was held in our Polytechnic to the faculty members, Instructors and to all the Helpers of all the departments during the last week of October 2017. This initiative is taken to train the staff members of the respective departments to troubleshoot the problems in computer laboratories.  Anil Vaman Baliga, Consulting Structural Engineer delivered a guest lecture on “Concrete & Civil Engineering” to the students of Diploma in Civil Engg., on 30th January 2018.  Sri Vinod Kumar M.V. Asst.Professor, Dept of Electro-Mechanical Engg, Hawassa University, Ethiopia has delivered a guest lecture on “Hydraulics & Pneumatics” to the students of 4th semester Diploma in Mechanical Engg on 23rd February 2018.  A two days’ workshop on “Computer Aided Analysis and Design” was held to the students of sixth semester Diploma in Civil Engineering on 28th February and on 1st March 2018. Sri Shanmukha Shetty, Asst.Professor, Dept. of Civil Engg, N.M.A.M.I.T., Nitte was the resource person.  A seminar by Sri G. B. Praveen, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Yenepoya Institute of Technology on “Modern trends in Industrial Electrical and Electronics” to the students of fourth and sixth semester Mechatronics Engineering was held in our Polytechnic on 15th February 2018.  Sri Aruna M. N., Research Scholar, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Mangalore has presented a seminar on “Rapid Prototyping” to our students of Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering on 17.02.2018. Guest Lectures:  Sri Rajendra Kalbavi, Project Director, D.K. Nirmithi Kendra, N.I.T.K., Surathkal delivered a guest lecture on “ Eco Friendly Construction” to the students of Civil Engg, on 18th September 2017.  Sri Uday Kaniyur, Land Surveyor, ALCON Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore delivered guest lecture on “Using of Total Station” for the 2nd and 3rd year Diploma students of Civil Engg on 16th October 2017.  Sri Prajwal P.S., Senior Engineer, Ambuja Cements, Mangalore Zone delivered a guest lecture on “Concrete Basics & Construction Practice” in our Polytechnic 17th October 2017.  Sri Vinod Kumar M.V., Asst.Professor, Dept.Electro- Mechanical Engg, Hawassa University, Ethiopia has delivered a guest lecture on “ Hydraulics & Pneumatics” to our students of second year Diploma in Mechanicasl Engg on 23rd Feb.2018.  Sri G. Sujaykumar, Assistant Professor, Dept of Mechanical Engineering, Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Moodbidri has delivered a Guest Lecture on “I.C. ENGINES” to the students of 4th Semester Diploma in Mechanical Engineering on 06th March 2018. Activities of Innovation Club and other Clubs: With the intention of identifying, encouraging and nurturing the innovative talents and to develop skills among the student community, innovation club was formed in our Polytechnic. The inauguration of activities of innovation club & other clubs for this academic year was held on 11th September 2017. Sri G.Ramakrishna Achar, Chairman & Managing Director, S.K.F.Group of Companies, Moodbidri inaugurated the activities for the year 2017-18. Sri Rajendra Kalbavi, Project Director, Dakshina Kannada Nirmithi Kendra, N.I.T.K., Surathkal was the Chief Guest. Sri K.Abhayachandra Jain, Chairman of Governing Council of our Polytechnic presided over.

Kaushalyam 2018. The Innovation Club has organised “Kaushalyam-2018” a Technical Project Exhibition in our Polytechnic on 7th March 2018. About 84 innovative technical models prepared by our students focused on agriculture, irrigation, utilization of alternate energy sources, waste management and other rural & industrial requirements prepared by students of all seven disciplines were exhibited Tech Forum club of Dept. of Computer Science & Engg has emerged as the most innovative club of the year. About 500 students from local High Schools/ Colleges visited this exhibition. Meticulous planning and arrangements were made under the leadership of Dr. S.P.Gurudas, Co ordinator, Innovation Club. Our old student Sri Ravikiran Hegde, Project/ Progam Manager, I.B.M.India Pvt. Ltd., has sponsored Rs.18000 towards the prizes for the participants of Kaushalyam 2018.

Achievements in Sports & Games:  The Annual Sports Meet was held on 6th February 2018. Sri P.K.Thomas, Councilor, Town Municipal Council, Moodbidri inaugurated the Sport Meet. Thanks to Sri Imran Khan A, Lecturer in English, and Sri Rohith Kumar N., Instructor, Dept. of Mechanical Engg., for successfully organizing the sports meet.  Our cricket team secured first place in the intercollege cricket match organized by Sri Mahaveera First Grade College, Moodbidri. N.S.S. Activities:  An Orientation programme for the 1st year N.S.S volunteers was held on 12-08-2017. About 90 N.S.S. volunteers attended this programme.  About 215 students enrolled as N.S.S. volunteers for this academic year. Our N.S.S. volunteers are taking up regular activities on every Saturday. Sri Ramprasad.M., and Sri Kiran Y., Lecturers in the Dept. of E&E Engg., are appointed as N.S.S. Programme Officers for N.S.S.Unit-I and Unit–II respectively, for this academic year.  The N.S.S.Units and Rotary club Moodbidri, jointly organized a training program on First Aid and Disaster Management in our Polytechnic on 19th August 2017 in association with Indian Red cross Society, Puttur.  Blood Donation Camp held: The N.S.S.Units and Rotary Club, Moodbidri, jointly organized a Blood Donation Camp in our Polytechnic on 31st August 2017, in association with Blood Bank, K.M.C., Mangalore. About 144 sachets of blood was collected from staff and student donors.  N.S.S. Units and J.C.I. Moodbidri jointly organized a training programme on Self Employment by RUDSET, Ujire in our Polytechnic on 11th September 2017. About 100 students of our Polytechnic were trained.  To make nationwide sanitation campaign Swacchatha Hi Sewa launched by President of India on 15th Sept. 2017 and to celebrate the N.S.S.Day both N.S.S units in association with Moodbidri Police Station, Rotary Club of Moodbidri, and faculty members as well as students organized Cleaning Programme (Swacchataa Abhiyaaan) on 24thSept.2017 in the premises of Moodbidri Police Station. This was an initiative towards clean, healthy and new India, and a message of Cleanliness - a multi-stakeholder national movement was spread among the students. This programme was conducted with the active participation of 100 N.S.S.volunteers under the guidance of our N.S.S programme officers  On account of Gandhi Jayanthi Rotary Club of Moodbidri in association with various Organizations had organized “Swacha Bharath Abhiyaan (¸ÀéZÀÒ ¨sÁgÀvÀ C©üAiÀiÁ£À)” on 2nd October 2017.

On this occasion a Rally was held from Sri Mahaveera College to Swaraj Maidan, Moodbidri. About 75 N.S.S.volunteers of our Polytechnic participated in this programme. Annual special camp:  N.S.S. Annual special camp 2017-18 was held from 26th December 2017 to 1st January 2018 at Z.P Higher Primary School, Aarambodi, Belthangadi Taluk. Sri P.Dharendra Kumar, Member, Zilla Panchayat, Naravi inaugurated the special camp on 26th December 2017. Ln Sri Ramananda Noojippadi, Deputy Principal, Govt. Pre University College, Siddhakatte delivered valedictory speech on 1st January 2018. During our N.S.S.special camp Tulu Samskriti Sambhrama(vÀļÀÄ

¸ÀA¸ÀÌöÈw ¸ÀA¨sÀæªÀÄ) programme was held on 31st December 2017.

 About 100 NSS volunteers took part in building a 70mts Katta-a dam for irrigation across Phalguni River, near Hosangadi on 21st January 2018. This project was intended to store flowing water for the irrigation purposes of local farmers.  About 55 N.S.S volunteers accompanied by three staff members had a trekking programme to Ballala Rayana Durga, Mudigire Taluk,Chick Managalur District

National Festivals held in the Campus:  Independence Day and Republic Day were celebrated in the campus with the involvement of staff and students. Free Lap Top by Govt. of Karnataka: A free Lap Top was provided to Rajesh, a of first year student of Automobile Engineering by Govt. of Karnataka in a free laptop distribution function held at S.J.Polytechnic, Bangalore on 27th February 2018.

Free Midday Meal Facility: Polytechnic provides free midday meals to the needy from the generous contributions ofour well- wishers. 69 economically poor and deserving students are provided with free mid-day meals this year. Scholarships:  The Taluk Social Welfare Officer, Mangalore has sanctioned Govt. of India Post Metric Scholarship of Rs 4,31,555/- towards the scholars belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe.  Department of Backward Communities, Govt.of Karnataka, has sanctioned the fees concession under the “ Vidya Siri Yojana ” Scholarship Scheme for the year 2017-18 which amounts to Rs.15,72,480/-.  The Directorate of Minorities, Govt of Karnataka has sanctioned loan to our students under “ Arivu Loan Scholarship Scheme ” which amounts to Rs. 1,25,000/-  During this academic year about 202 students have submitted applications to the Labour Welfare Organisaton, Bangalore through our Polytechnic for the sanction of Beedi Scholarships.  Other scholarships will be credited by the concerned Departments directly to the individual S.B. accounts of our students.

The annual interest proceeds of this fund will be given to the best outgoing student of E&E Engg. every year.  A cash award of Rs.2000 is presented by the staff association of our Polytechnic to a student for his/her outstanding contribution to the institution.  Sri Dhananjaya Kumar, Proprietor, Sri Mahaveera College Stores, Moodbidri has sponsored a cash prize to the “Best Sports Performer” of our Polytechnic, for this academic year.  Smt. Shobha S Hegde, Proprietor, Manjushree Driving School, Moodbidri has sponsored a gift to the “Lucky Staff” of our Polytechnic for this academic year.  Sri Radhakrishna Bhat, staff member of our Polytechnic has sponsored a gift to the “Lucky Student” of our Polytechnic. Donations by our staff and students:  A sum of Rs. 23450 collected from staff and students of our Polytechnic was given to one of our students for his treatment of injuries caused due to road accident.

Financial assistance from our old students:  Sri Vishwanath Shetty, an ex-student of this Polytechnic has sponsored education expenses of Rs.15,000/- to a student of our Polytechnic.  2010-11 batch of E&C Engg students under the leadership of Manoj M Shetty have come forwards to sponsor the educational expenses of 2-3 economically poor students every year with an annual contribution of approximately Rs.50,000/-. from this academic year. Placement assistance through Campus selection/ interviews: Campus recruitment drives are held for the employment of students of this Polytechnic regularly. M/s Toyota Industries Engine India Pvt.Ltd., (TIEI) Bengaluru conducted campus interview at K.P.T., Mangalore on 19th and 20th of Jan 2018 for the students of Automobile and Mechanical Engg branches. A campus interview was held by Essel Propack Ltd., at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Polytechnic, Manipal on 29th Jan 2018 for the students of Mechanical and Electrical and Electronics Engg branches. A campus interview was held by M/s A.O.Smith India Water Products Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru at S.D.M. Polytechnic, Ujire on 1st February 2018 for the students of Mechanical and Electrical and Electronics Engg branches. Mahle Behr India Pvt. Ltd., Pune has conducted Pooled Campus interview in our Polytechnic on 8th of Feb 2018. About 165 Students of Automobile, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science & Engg branches from 11 Polytechnics participated in the interview. A campus interview was held by M/s Centum Electronics at S.D.M. Polytechnic on 12th February 2018 for the students of Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication and Mechatronics Engineering. A campus interview was held by M/s Toyota Gosei South India Pvt.Ltd., at S.D.M.Polytechnic, Ujire on 16th February 2018 for the students of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engg branches. A campus interview was held by M/s Cadence Technologies, Bangalore at Vivekananda Polytechnic, Puttur on 17th February 2018 for the students of Electrical & Electronics Engg and Electronics and Communication Engg branches. M/s TAFE India Pvt.Ltd.,Bangalore has conducted Pooled Campus interview at our Polytechnic on 19th of February 2018. About 115 Students of Automobile, Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Computer Science & Engg branches from10 Polytechnics are participated in the interview. A campus interview was held by T.V.M.Signalling at S.D.M.Polytechnic on 16th February 2018 for the students of Electrical and Electronics Engg. Mando India Ltd., Chennai had conducted pooled campus interview on 13th March 2018. About 111 student from neighbouring Polytechnics had attended. 19 students of our Polytechnic are selected for the M/s Toyota Industries Engine India Pvt.Ltd.,(TIEI), Bangalore and they are expecting the appointment orders. 37 students of our Polytechnic are selected for the M/s A.O Smith India Water Products Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore and the appointment orders are expected. 6 students of our Polytechnic are selected for M/s Essel Propack Ltd., and the appointment orders are expected. 8 students of our Polytechnic are selected for M/s Toyota Gosei South India Pvt. Ltd., and the appointment orders are expected. 24 students of our Polytechnic are selected for Mahle Behr India Pvt Ltd., Pune and the appointment orders are expected. 31 students of our Polytechnic are selected for M/s TAFE India Pvt Ltd.,and the appointment orders are expected. 18 students of our Polytechnic are selected for M/s Centum Electronics and they are expecting the appointment orders. 17 students of our Polytechnic are selected for Mando India Ltd and they have already received their offer letters. There are few more industries in the pipeline for the Campus Drive events which will be held shortly. A list of students placed in different companies year wise is made available in our College website. Building construction activities: Our management has proposed to construct second floor in the new block of our Polytechnic at an estimated cost of Rs.8000000. This proposal was approved by S. M. C. Trust in the meeting held on 4th November 2017. The construction activities will commence soon. Maintenance of discipline: Utmost precautions have been taken for the maintenance of discipline in this institution. As per the direction of Govt. of Karnataka we have formed various Committees for the maintenance of discipline in the institution.  Anti-sexual Harassment Committee is formed to protect women against sexual abuse or any such menaces in the campus.  Anti- Ragging Committee is formed to curb ragging in the campus. Every student is made to give an undertaking in this regard.  Committee on Women’s Security, Welfare and Grievance Redressal to proactively take up women’s issues to ensure safe and secure women friendly atmosphere in the institution.  Dress Code committee is formed in the Polytechnic to oversee the dress code issues.  Internal Quality Assurance Cell is constituted in the Polytechnic to ensure continuous improvement in Academic, Administrative and financial aspects of the Polytechnic.  SC/ ST Grievances Committee is formed to address the grievances of SC/ ST students.  Internal Complaints Committee is formed to address the grievances of students and staff of the Polytechnic. College Cafeteria: A cafeteria is set up in our College Campus. A Committee comprising of staff members and student representatives is formed to monitor and take appropriate actions to provide quality and hygienic food and beverages at nominal price. Clean Campus Campaign: As per the clean campus drive every student and staff shall engage at least one hour per week in maintaining cleanliness in the campus. Different time slots are assigned to different classes in the week. This drive was initiated with a noble intension of forming a habit among students rather than a mere publicity. I appreciate all the students and staff for actively engaging themselves to keep our surroundings clean. Staff Association: The polytechnic has a strong staff association and it organizes regular events and activities for the staff. Sri. M. Venkatesh Prabhu and Sri. Suresh Bhandary are serving as secretaries of this association. S.N.M. P. Alumni Association: Most of our old students are well settled. These old students are our ambassadors and hence mirror our image at the world of work. These students have formed an alumni association which is very active. The Office bearers of this association meet regularly. Alumni representative Sri Adarsh A.Phadke is also an active member of this Alumni Association. Condolence & grievances:  Mr.Shihal Hassan a student of I year Mechanical Engineering passed away in a road accident near Haleyangady on 31st July 2017.  Mr. Sachin, a student of III year E&E Engg was drowned on 1st Nov. 2017. With profound grief the staff and students of our Polytechnic condole the sad demise of these departed souls. Before I conclude it is my ardent duty to thank my “TEAM SNMP” for providing conducive atmosphere for teaching/ learning at this Polytechnic.
