For the first time in 1980, the STA will furnish both Adult and Junior STA Ranking Chairmen and Sectional Endorsers with a player record sheet assembled with computer-assisted recording of all tournament results. It will be the responsibility 1----- of the District Drawsheet Chairmen to see that all tournament results are collected, reviewed, and forwarded as per instructions in order to insure the effectiveness of this new ranking data program. The role of the District Enrollment Chairmen is also most important in this program to make certain that tbe membership information on the printouts provided them is complete and accurate, since these data will be one of the key inputs to the computer system. All Districts will be furnished these pl.ayer records on request at the end of the ranking year to be used for District Rankipg assistance. The exact dates of the STA Summer Board of Directors and December Annual Meet ings have not been set, but will be announced early in the year. All members of the STA are invited to attend and contribute to all of the meetings of the Association. The STA Office in Atlanta is open Honday through Friday, 9 a.rn.-5 p.m. and you are invited and encouraged to uSe tbe services the Office provides in all aspects of the affairs of the STA. Competition ranged from novice to advanced and from ages 10 to 80. Eight of our nine Districts participated in the expansion of the STA League Tennis Program in 1979 and, with additional financial aid provided to the Districts for Newton Cox Leagues in our budget, we expect to see more expansion in 1980. The League Program P,:,sident, .STA is designed for adult (over 21) men and women, who may not be interested in sanctioned tournament tennis, but are eager for competition at their own level of ab_ility. The League Program will provide for District Championships, with the winners playing in the Sectional Championships in Atlanta in June. While not ye.t certain at this writ ing, we expect our Sectional Champions to play against the other participating USTA Sections in League Regional and National Championships in the fall of 1980. With just a little effort in every District, we can double our membership rolls by the end of this year. The Wilson Tennis Ball has again been named the official ball of the STA to be TABLE OF CONTENTS used in all ''Sectional Championships and STA League play, and it will be encouraged for use in all STA sanctioned tournaments.
