Bronze age 8 to 11 is learn to sail class for young sailors with little to no experience in sailing. Sailors learn in the , a singlehanded dinghy. Bronze class offers the opportunity to learn fundamental sailing skills in a fun and challenging environment. The curriculum covers fundamental safety, sailing skills, boat parts, terminology, knots and rigging. The environment is fun, light and above all-safe. Silver Sabot age 8 to 11 is for sailors who have successfully mastered the Bronze skills. This class blends sailing skills with several important seamanship skills including boat handling, safety position and upwind sailing. Kids will work on their upwind sailing confidence and hone in their tacking and jibing skills in a fun learning environment. NEW Gold BIC age 9 to 12 is for sailors who have successfully mastered the Silver skills. It is the third step in the CYC Certification process. Curriculum focuses on refining the skills learned in both Bronze and Silver, while introducing fundamental race skills and knowledge. It is our hope to introduce sailors to racing in a non-threatening way and give them to opportunity to decide if it’s something they would like to pursue. Junior Advanced 12 and up Lasers and Laser Radials are very fast, fun and popular boats. They are excellent for sailors who have mastered the sabot and are looking for a new challenge. Sailors must be at least 11 years of age or have permission from the Head Coach and Junior Director to enroll. The skills learned aboard the Laser can be used on any boat. Lasers can be quite physical to sail. This class will focus on learning boat control through sail trim and body positioning. Bronze Doublehanded 12 and up The class is appropriate for novices through advanced sailors. It is an ideal class for sailors who are interested in sailing year-round at the high school level. The curriculum includes specialized crewing and skippering techniques and teaching “tricks” for the FJ. Sailors will also get experience with the 420. Silver Doublehanded 12 and up is open to sailors who have taken Bronze Doublehanded or with Jr. Director’s permission. The class will cover topics including safety on the trapeze, how to rig and sail a spinnaker, body positioning and advanced terminology. Sailors will sail both 420s and FJs. NEW Windsurfing/Hobbies/Bic 12-up this class is exciting, physically challenging and great way to development a feel for balance and sail trim. Some sailing skill is recommended to join this class. The class will be base out on sting ray point and must like getting wet!

Weeklong classes: Scallywags age 6 to 8 is a great way to introduce your youngster to sailing. The minimum age is 6 and your child must have completed kindergarten. During the week kids will be exposed to sailing in a very safe, controlled environment. An Instructor or Junior Instructor will be on every boat. The emphasis of the course is on fun and comfort on the water…just wait until your sailor comes home talking about day, the trip to Stingray Point and so much more! Classes run from 9:00am-12:00. Please pack a snack. Requirements: Kids must have completed 1 year of kindergarten and/or be a minimum of 6 years old.
