Received: 14 December 2018; Accepted: 28 February 2019; Published: 19 March 2019 Abstract: Per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a huge class of Contaminants of Emerging Concern, well-known to be persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic. They have been detected in different environmental matrices, in wildlife and even in humans, with drinking water being considered as the main exposure route. Therefore, the present study focused on the estimation of PFAS in the Metropolitan Area of Turin, where SMAT (Società Metropolitana Acque Torino S.p.A.) is in charge of the management of the water cycle and the development of a tool for supporting “smart” water quality monitoring programs to address emerging pollutants’ assessments using multivariate spatial and statistical analysis tools. A new “green” analytical method was developed and validated in order to determine 16 different PFAS in drinking water with a direct injection to the Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography tandem Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) system and without any pretreatment step. -

Slope instability and streamflow processes in the mountainous part of the SanGone river basin have been investiGated in conjunction with their influence on relief remodellinG. ThrouGh histor- ical records, the most critical sites durinG extreme rainfalls have been evidenced, concerned natural parameters and their effects (impact on man-made structures) reiterated over space and time. The key issue of the work is the simulation of a volume of detrital materials, which miGht be set in motion by a debris flow. Two modellinG approaches have been tested and obtained results have been evaluated usinG Debris © (GEOSOFT s.a.s.) software. Simulation of debris flow in a small sub-catchment (Tauneri stream) was carried out and the thickness of sediment “packaGe” that could be removed was calculated in order to assess the debris flow hazard. The Turconi & Tropeano formula (2000) was applied to all the partitions of the SanGone basin in order to predict the whole sediment volume which miGht be delivered 3 to the main stream durinG an extreme event and the result beinG 117 m /hectare. Key words : landslip, torrential flood, debris flow, predictive model INTRODUCTION The Alpine valleys, throughout centuries, are in search of an equilibrium between anthropogenic activity and natural processes; interventions due to ameliorating productivity, accommodation and safety conditions for Man and environment often were done overlapping or contrasting the slowly-operating exogenous agents. -

STRATEGIA NAZIONALE PER LE AREE INTERNE LA MONTAGNA SI AVVICINA STRATEGIA PER LE VALLI DI LANZO SETTEMBRE 2020 strategia nazionale per le aree interne Strategia per le Valli di Lanzo Il passato recente e il futuro prossimo La realtà socioeconomica territoriale e le sue dinamiche evolvono rapidamente, spesso più rapidamente delle idee e delle strategie che ne sono a fondamento, sempre più velocemente della percezione che anche un osservatore attento riesce ad avere del mutamento stesso. Nel periodo intercorso tra l’approvazione della Bozza di Strategia (28 Settembre 2018) e la redazione della Strategia d’Area, di seguito presentata, il mondo nella sua globalità ha vissuto una delle fasi più drammatiche registrate negli ultimi decenni, ma nel contempo più propulsive, pur nella preoccupante contabilizzazione di dati econometrici negativi e della ancor più tragica registrazione dei decessi correlati alla pandemia di COVID 19. Il territorio dell’Area Interna delle Valli di Lanzo non solo non è stato esente dal diffuso fenomeno epidemiologico e dalle relative conseguenze dell’impatto negativo subito dalle famiglie, dalle imprese, dal tessuto sociale nel suo complesso e ancor più dal tessuto economico. Il territorio tutto ha registrato - forse si comincia ad averne contezza solo ora - nuove tendenze e mutamenti di ruoli, possibilità di azione e di abitudini più marcate rispetto ad altre aree montane, in quanto la realtà locale è strettamente correlata con il tessuto cittadino di Torino e di tutta l’area metropolitana torinese. In tal senso, le Valli di Lanzo nella loro accezione più ampia e il territorio della Città Metropolitana, sono da sempre caratterizzati da una forte correlazione con maggiori rapporti di biunivocità rispetto a quanto possa darne conto un primo sguardo: pendolarismo per lavoro e studio, flusso di merci da e verso le valli, fruizione turistica e frequentazione occasionale, seconde case e storicità di presenza, senso di appartenenza e di comunità. -

Guido Alfani PAM - Bocconi University Dondena Centre and IGIER Via Roentgen 1, 20136 Milan - Italy [email protected] Economic inequality in northwestern Italy: a long-term view (fourteenth to eighteenth centuries) (provisional version – please ask for author’s consent to quote) 1 Abstract This article provides a comprehensive picture of economic inequality in northwestern Italy (Piedmont), focusing on the long-term developments occurred during 1300-1800 ca. Regional studies of this kind are rare, and none of them has as long a timescale. The new data proposed illuminate many little-known aspects of wealth distribution and general economic inequality in preindustrial times, and support the idea that during the Early Modern period, inequality grew everywhere: both in cities and in rural areas, and independently from whether the economy was growing or stagnating. This finding challenges earlier views that explained inequality growth as the consequence of economic development. The importance of demographic processes affecting inequality is underlined, and the impact of severe mortality crises, like the Black Death, is analyzed.
