A Grand Opening Gala and Community Open House in celebration of the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center serves the public purposes as stated herein. 2. An Ad Hoc Miami Beach Convention Center Host Committee to raise funds for the Grand Opening Gala and Community Open House is hereby created, whose purpose and duty is to raise funds for the costs associated with the hosting of the Grand Opening Gala and the Community Open House; and, all such funds raised will be appropriated to a City of Miami Beach account established for such public purpose. 3. Seven (7) members of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee shall be direct appointments, one made by the Mayor and each Commissioner. The direct appointee shall either be: (i) a resident of a locally designated community development target area for a minimum of six months; or (ii) demonstrate ownership/interest for a minimum of six months in a business established in a locally designated community development target area for a minimum of six months. The remaining eleven (11) members shall be appointed at-large by a majority vote of the Mayor and City Commission, as follows: 1. One citizen actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing; 2. One citizen actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing; 3. One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing; 4. One citizen actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing; 5. One citizen actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing; 6. One citizen actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing; 7. One citizen actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing; 8. One citizen who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to Florida Statute §163.3174 (Planning Board member); 9. One citizen who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments; 10. One citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction; 11. One citizen who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan. If the City, due to the presence of a conflict of interest by prospective appointees, or other reasonable factor, is unable to appoint a citizen actively engaged in these activities in connection with affordable housing, a citizen engaged in the activity without regard to affordable housing may be appointed.     "Because A Friendship as Strong As This Will Never Let Us Forget"/Haim Guri Malka Maor – Editor of "Al HaGush", Misgav Local Magazine In memory of Arbel Reich (z"l) who on Thursday July 12, 2007 fell during combat operations in the Gaza Strip First Sergeant Arbel Reich (z"l), from Yuvalim in the Misgav Regional Council, son of Moshe and Yael Reich, founding members of the community, and brother to Moran and Einav, an IDF NCO from the Recon Battalion, Elite Unit of the Givati Brigade fell during combat operations in the Gaza Strip, when an IED was activated against his unit in battle. Arbel, aged 21 was eight months prior to his honorable discharge from regular army duty. On Friday afternoon, July 13, 2007, under a hot sun, Arbel came to his final resting place in Misgav's regional cemetery. Thousands came to tearfully accompany him, pay their last respects and console the anguished members of his family to the sound of the heart-wrenching tears of his stunned young friends unable to comprehend the loss. But who could… The photos he left behind show a fine young man. The eulogies said before his grave painted a picture of a humane, ideological, sensitive and caring person, one who loved 1 life, his family and country, a young man who was dedicated to his service, and saw friendship as a supreme value. FOREWORD Most of the material which has been written about Palestine since the tragedy of 1948, has dealt with the political side of the issue. The Israeli propaganda machine tries to give the impression to the outside world that the Palestine problem is nothing more than a case of~ dispute over a country which legally and legitimately belongs to the Jews and which the Arab States covet to annex to their own vast territories. As such, all other problems affecting the rights and interests of the Arab inhabitants of Palestine are of a secondary nature. The fact that is generally over-shadowed by this Israeli and Zionist propaganda, and w,hich, as a result, has been overlooked by world opinion so far as Palestine is concerned, is that the status of a country as belonging to a particular people is judged by the natural rights of the individuals who have been born and have tilled its soil for generations, rather than governed by political or other considerations. For the last four decades, Zionist propaganda has given a distorted picture of the situation in the Holy Land.

On January 3, 2009, Israel began a ground offensive into Gaza intended to eliminate Hamas’s willingness or capability to launch rockets at Israeli towns and cities. As of January 14, Israeli bombings and ground forces had reportedly killed over 1,000 Palestinians, while 13 Israelis had been killed by Palestinian rockets and attempts to counter the ground invasion. Some Israeli observers have suggested that neither toppling the Hamas regime nor permanently ending all rocket attacks is a realistic goal. Nevertheless, by temporarily disabling Hamas’s military capacity and slowing its rearmament, Israel could ease the frequency and intensity of Hamas attacks in the months ahead as it prepares to deploy new, more sophisticated anti-rocket defense systems.
