Aca- demically, Ayala offers up to 17 AP level courses, and is the home of the Computer Science and Software Engineering Academy. There are many sports to join, such as track, soccer, basketball, and golf. There are many electives, too. For example, there are several foreign languages, photography, art, drama, band, dance, and color guard. Unlike other high schools in the district, Ayala is the only one that teaches sign language for a foreign language. For those who want their resume to look good in college, it would be beneficial to join clubs. Ayala has many clubs available. To name a few, there are the volunteering clubs like Key Club and Make a Wish Club, the anime, Asian, Polynesian, and ping pong club. For example, there are blackout rallies, which come every four years and are glow in the dark. During December, Power 106, a radio station, comes to Ayala. They play music for the students and, they also have basketball games at the school. Finally, like all other high schools, there is no AR, and if you are 18 or older, you may go out for lunch. Many stu- dents that go to Briggs are supposed to go to Don Lugo. I am going to Don Lu- go. Other people go to Chino, Ayala, or Chino Hills. I interviewed a junior at Don Lugo named Reynaldo Ballesteros. Reynaldo has been going to Lu- go since he was a freshman and is on the JV football team. He has played for two years. Reynaldo has four core subjects and two electives. He really likes his elec- tives, which are digital video and athletic PE. He takes digital video because he likes editing videos. He takes athletic PE for football. Reynaldo says he goes to Lugo because of football and because his friends go there. Reynaldo says there’s lots of clubs there, so everyone fits it somewhere. Reynaldo says the staff is strict some- times, but friendly for the most part. Everyone gets along at Lugo and it’s fun. Reynaldo says people should go to Lugo because it’s fun and friendly. There are many special electives at Lugo like Yearbook, Art, and Culinary. People should people go to Lugo instead of other schools because it’s small, so that means you can meet a lot of people, and you could like know everyone at Lugo. Also, if you are someone who likes to sleep in, or has trouble getting up in the morning, classes at Lugo start at 7:30 a.m. So, get ready to be up and ready to go even earlier than here at Briggs!
