About Day 2 of the Summit The Summit, especially Day 2, is facilitated and designed in collaboration with the Flourishing Leadership Institute. Summits are designed using an Appreciative Inquiry (AI) approach. Because this is a summit, and not a conference, it matters that you are committed to full participation because the outcomes of the Summit are additive and depend on an engaged group of stakeholders.

Components of an Appreciative Inquiry Summit:

The WHOLE SYSTEM participates — a cross-section of stakeholders in academia, business, civil society, and government—people and groups that care about and have a stake in Cleveland’s economy and future. This means more diversity and less hierarchy than is usual in a working meeting, and a chance for each person and stakeholder group to be heard and to learn other ways of looking at the task at hand.

TASK FOCUSED — a summit is task-focused, not simply an educational event or a conference. We are here to leverage all the strengths and talents that exist within our community in order to build our vision and plan of action for accomplishing our summit task — to build a thriving green city on a blue lake.

COMMON GROUND rather than “conflict management” is the frame of reference. That means honoring our differences and then discovering areas for action where we have strong common ground.

COMMITMENT TO ACTION — because the “whole system” is involved, it is easier to make rapid decisions, and to make commitments to action in an open way that everyone can support.

The summit uses the 4D cycle of Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny to achieve these goals:

After the Summit After the Summit ends on Day 2, you will have the opportunity to join a community bike ride led by Ohio City Bicycle Co-op. The ride will take you on some new trails, including the new Lake Link Trail in , before ending at the the post-Summit Happy Hour at Rebol in Public Square.

If you won't be riding to the Summit, no worries. You can either check out a UH Bike across the street from Public Auditorium or rent a bike by filling out this form and bringing $10 in cash.
