BILTEMA Chooses a WMS from Consafe Logistics for its new warehouse in Halmstad BILTEMA, the largest suppliers of automobile parts, accessories, tools and chemicals in the Nordics has chosen the Astro WMS Warehouse Management system from Consafe Logistics for its new warehouse in Halmstad, south west Sweden. The company is investing is a future- proof system that fulfils BILTEMA’s high demands for flexibility while supporting the company’s plans for expansion. BILTEMA has stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark that are primarily run as franchises. Today, BILTEMA stores have sales of around 3,5 Billion SEK. By end 2006 there will be more than 40 BILTEMA stores in the Nordic countries and 60-70 stores by 2011. The company currently has warehouses in Linköping, Motala, Lammhult, Halmstad and a couple of external warehouses. The new warehouse measures around 40 000 m and has space for around 100 000 pallets. The investment in Astro WMS has the goal of increasing pallet picking by between 10-30% and to make efficiencies through better replenishment and picking algorithms, real time management, picking in the right order on the pallet, resource allocation and other factors. Today, BILTEMA sells around15 000 articles and the range has been greatly increased, a process that will continue. The company buys around 70 percent of its goods from Asia. The range includes cycles and accessories, computer and mobile phone accessories, paint, building tools, kitchenware, suitcases and much more. BILTEMA’s current IT system is over 20 years old and can no longer cope with active expansion. ”We see Consafe Logistics as a secure supplier with a wide expertise and a proven WMS.
