“On our depth chart in the 100 fl y, the top three are all freshmen. Audrey Reimer comes in faster than our school record holder in the 200 back. Ary- anna Fernandes and Emma Lawless are going to be two of our top swimmers right off the bat. We are really excited about all of them.”

Foreign recrui ng has o en been one of Utah’s strengths, having brought in swimmers from Egypt, England, France, Italy, and Brazil. This year, Dykstra has added another country to that list.

The combina on of veteran swimmers with un- derclassmen will be an interes ng mix, but nothing Dykstra has not dealt with before. Having so much depth is a good problem to have. Daniel McArthur qualifi ed for fi nals in three events at last season’s Pac-12 Championships; the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM DIVING Richard Marschner returns to Utah for his tenth season as the head diving coach. Maintaining such consistency requires Marschner to recruit heav- ily while also streamlining the development of his returners.

“We had a lot of growth as a team last season. We had some kids work hard this summer, as well as some freshmen that are coming in who we are excited to have here. We are a young team but we also have a lot of talent.”

On the women’s side, the Utes return Emma Ruchala, Clare Greenlow and Makenzie Caufi eld. All three will play key roles in the team’s success this year.

Daniel Theriault is the clear leader of the men’s corps. The senior is a CSCAA Scholar All-American and took 20th on the pla orm at the NCAA Zones last season. Big things are also expected from newcomers Luke McDivi and Rylan Li le. The team expects to be balanced, as the newcomers will compete right away.

“Daniel is a senior and he has been working hard so I am excited to see what he can do,” stated Marschner. “All our recruits have great backgrounds and we know they will contribute right away. Luke and Rylan should surprise some people.”

With a stellar recrui ng class, experienced veterans, and a top-level coaching staff , the Utes are primed to have their best season to date.

Lowry is also very involved in the sport of open water swimming, taking mul ple athletes to the USA Swimming Open Water Na onal Championships and coaching at the USA Swimming Na onal Open Water Camps.

Lowry earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Denver in 2009, and earned her master’s degree in higher educa on from North Texas in May 2012. She also served as a Student-Athlete Aff airs Coordi- nator at UNT where she was the academic advisor for the men’s and women’s golf teams during the 2012-13 academic year.

Aleksa made the move to Salt Lake City following a volunteer s nt at Ohio State, where he also coached the OSU swim club.
