2 April 25, 2021: FOURTH SUNDAY OF

Tljdž CǓǖDŽNJLJNJǙ This year, Immaculate Conception Church will celebrate its 150th Anniversary. Our Immaculate Conception Church continues to thrive because many faithful believers practice their faith and contribute to the mission of the . Central to our understanding of our Catholic faith is the Redemptive Suffering of Our Lord Christ. It is through his Passion, Death and Resurrection that we are unified as the Body of Christ, worshipping and praying every week as a community of believers. The Crucifix is the most important symbol of this belief. The Crucifix will now be placed at the center of Immaculate Conception Church as a demonstration of our belief in this Central Mystery of our . This project began after consultation with the Parish Council, Finance Council and Liturgy Committee. The renovations began on April 19, 2021 and the project will take approximately two weeks. During construction, Daily Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel and Weekend Masses will continue to be celebrated in the Main Church. Please Note: The General Instruction of the , the guidelines the Church uses to celebrate Mass in the Church, #308 states: on the altar or near it, there is to be a cross, with the figure of Christ crucified upon it, a cross clearly visible to the assembled people. It is desirable that such a cross should remain near the altar even outside of liturgical celebrations, so as to call to mind for the faithful the saving Passion of . To be respectful of the benefactor and for those who have sentimental feelings for the “Resurrection Cross,” it is being placed in the Chapel for meditation. Many Prayers and Blessings! In Christ, Fr. Huy

FǐǖǓǕlj SǖǏDžǂǚ ǐLJ EǂǔǕdžǓ “I am the good shepherd, I know mine and mine know me.” These words from today’s hold both comfort and challenge! How well do you know Christ? Do you recognize his voice when he speaks to you? Do you willingly follow him as one of his sheep, as one of his disciples? Following the Good Shepherd takes faith, courage and an open heart. Take time this week in prayer to listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd. Pray for the grace to be responsive to his call to discipleship. 3 Forming in Faith...

RdžǂDžNJǏLjǔ: FǐǖǓǕlj SǖǏDžǂǚ ǐLJ EǂǔǕdžǓ First Reading: Acts 4:812 Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said: “Leaders of the people and elders: If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a cripple, namely, by what means he was saved, then all of you and all the people of Israel should know that it was in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead; in his name this man stands before you healed. He is the stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.”

Responsorial Psalm: The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.

Second Reading: 1 Jn 3:12 Beloved: See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Gospel: Jn 10:1118 Jesus said: “I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father.”

VNJǓǕǖǂǍ EǗdžǏǕ For several decades and in growing numbers, lay men and women have been undertaking a wide variety of roles in Church ministries. Many of these roles presume a significant degree of preparation, formation, and professional competence.

We hope you will be able to join us for these reflections that illustrate the mission of co responsibility for the Church today and see how Saint John's Seminary prepares lay leaders for ministry in the Church.
