Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ~Author Unknown

Next is Mother’s and it’s to reflect on everything mom’s do for all of us. Take the day and do something to celebrate family and the people who remain so dear in our lives.

Create a memory book together: Create a memory book highlighting all of your shared adventures. Include your best family photos and mementos from trips. Have each family member design a few pages of their favorite activities and accomplishments to include in the book.

Plant a garden with mom: You don’t have to have a green thumb or a yard to enjoy gardening. Consider a container garden or hanging tomato plants. Everyone will enjoy watching them grow. And, weeding and watering a garden encourages physical activity and teaches responsibility.

Go unplugged: Encourage everyone to unplug from television, video games, phones and social media for the day. Try a weekly challenge such as “no text Tuesday” or “phone free Friday” to continue the togetherness time. Teacher Appreciation Week this week. Please take a moment to thank our teachers for all they do on a daily basis. Give them a call, drop off a thank you note, send an email…..They are amazing!

With the advent of warm weather please take a moment to review the dress code found on the main Hornsby webpage, on the left side, near the bottom. Part of doing our best and being successful every day relies on looking and feeling our best. Clothing and dress can be a form of individual expression; however, it should convey a sense of personal pride and confidence found in a professional setting, such as a school. Please consider sending Kleenex into your student’s classrooms. Springtime allergies are causing lots of sneezing and nose blowing!! Parents/Guardians – If you have moved and HMS does not have your new address please contact Marcia, Registrar, at (757)565-9438. Items needed for a change of address: 2 proofs of residency, and the Residency Affidavit completed. Please remember, we have some students going to high school in the fall and this may impact which school your student will attend. Have a great weekend and I’m looking forward to hearing from these families.
