TAMPINES PRIMARY SCHOOL 250, Tampines Street 12, Singapore 529426 (Tel) 67831190 (Fax) 67843521 (Website) http://www.tampinespri.moe.edu.sg An Icon of Excellence: To Value and be Valued TPS/02/2014 07 Jan 2014 Dear Parents/Guardians, Objectives of CCA Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) is an integral part of our school’s programme to promote holistic development and bring out the best in every child. CCA aims to build pupil’s character, and develop their talent in other areas besides the academic. Pupils will pick up essential life-skills such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and conflict resolution. Through CCA, pupils build up their sense of discipline which helps them to deal more effectively with challenges of life they will face in the future. Types of CCA offered We provide a range of CCAs in 2014 to promote greater diversity and vibrancy. Our CCA programme is divided into 4 broad categories, namely Sports and Games CCA, Performing Arts CCA, Uniform Groups, and Clubs. The details of each CCA category are found in the attached CCA Prospectus 2014. The costs of all CCAs such as instructors’ fees and transport are currently borne by the school. However, parents will have to bear the cost of required equipment such as sports equipment, Weiqi boards, uniforms (e.g. scouts’ attire), required inner wear and accessories. Pupils who are under FAS scheme may apply for a one-time subsidy scheme for the CCA uniforms. CCA Sign-up The school will not be holding the CCA Bazaar this year. Pupils who have already joined a CCA in 2013 will continue with their existing CCA in 2014. They will not be required to sign up for CCA again. Pupils without CCAs are to sign up for their respective CCAs via their MC Online account. They could do so either from home or in school. Arrangement has been made for pupils to register for their CCA at Computer Lab 1 on the 8 - 10 Jan, during their respective recesses. Pupils will have to show this letter to the teacher stationed at the lab to be allowed to do so. The CCA sign-up portal will be opened from 7 January till 10 January 2014. Pupils will not be able to access the portal after 10 January 2014. Pupils will be assigned their CCA on a first come first served basis. CCA Schedule CCA is now carried out during curriculum time, from 8.00 – 9.30a.m, we strongly encourage all P3 to P6 pupils to participate actively in CCA. For pupils who are selected to form school teams for Sports and Performing Arts CCA, separate CCA schedules and consent forms will be issued to the pupils for CCA practices that will be conducted after school. Their CCA teachers will also be providing you with their competition schedule once the competition dates have been confirmed. Please keep a copy of these documents as reference of your child’s/ward’s CCA activities throughout the year. 1 Other information To ensure that all pupils enjoy and get the most of their CCA sessions, we seek your understanding and cooperation in ensuring that the pupils have their breakfast before they come to school. Pupils should bring their water bottles as they will not be allowed to buy drinks from the canteen during curriculum time. Pupils in sports CCA are encouraged to bring extra change of clothes and towel to clean themselves for hygiene purposes. For our pupils’ safety and well-being, pupils in sports CCA will be allowed to bring and wear their sports shoes and to don a cap during their CCA (outdoor sports). However they are required to change out of their sports shoes and remove caps after CCA sessions. Should there be any queries please contact Mrs Evelyn Yee, Subject Head PEACH, at [email protected]. We look forward to work with you in encouraging your child/ward and to help in the selection of a suitable CCA.
