Babergh River Stour Festival Walk dates & details for 2018 Date Start Time Details including esƟmated Ɵme the walk will take Starts at Nayland Village Hall - circular walk taking in Wednesday 24th January 10am views and footpaths along the River Stour - Led by Chris Hunt - 2 hrs Starts at Red Lion Chelmondiston IP9 1DW - Linear walk (people may walk back on the same route on their own if they wish) – starting at the Red Lion Public House at Chelmondiston to Shotley Gate. The route follows the roadway down to Pinmill where it then picks up the waymarked footpath to follow the Arthur Ransome Trail (following the route depicted in Sunday 18th March 10am his famous novel “We didn’t mean to go to sea”) along the banks of the River Orwell into Shotley Marina where the Orwell meets the River Stour, walk approximately 6 miles - option to return to Chelmondiston via public transport using the 97 bus route - car parking available at both end of walk with a parking fee payable at Pin Mill. Walk duration allow 3 hrs. Led by Shotley Open Spaces walk team - 3 hrs one way total 6 miles. Starts at finishes at the Brantham Bull public house - circular walk taking in the views of the River Stour Friday 27th April 10.30am looking over towards Mistley and Wrabness and walking along the banks of the River. Led by Alison Monk - 2 hrs Starts at Sudbury Kingfisher Leisure Centre - circular walk - walking north along the disused railway line Friday 4th May 12 noon towards Brundon taking in view of the Commonlands and river Stour. Led by Kate Bentley Walls - 2 hrs Flatford – Starts at the National Trust visitor centre/ th Café – circular walk around Constable Country taking in Friday 15 June 10.30am view of the River Stour and places where John Constable used to paint. Led by Chris Hunt - 2 hrs Meet at the Red Lion East Bergholt (car park behind the pub) - walk to Flatford Mill then across to Dedham Wednesday 11th July 10am and back - views of the river Stour and places that John Constable used as the backdrop for his artwork. Led By Chris Hunt - 2 hrs Working Together Walk dates & details for 2018 Date Start Time Details including esƟmated Ɵme the walk will take Sudbury Kingfisher Leisure Centre - circular walk Friday 13th July 12 noon south along the River Stour towards Gt Cornard – Led by Kate Bentley-Walls - 2 hrs Meet at Bures Village Hall - circular walk in and around the pretty villages of Bures on the Suffolk/ Wednesday 15th August 9.30am Essex border - taking in views of the River Stour which acts as the boundary for the two counties. Led by Julian Delefortrie - 2 hrs Cattawade Picnic Site CO11 1QW - linear walk to Flatford Milland and back along the banks of the Sunday 16th September 11am River Stour. Led by Shotley Open spaces walk leaders - 3 hrs Holbrook/Stutton - park at Lower Holbrook Car park - circular walk taking in views of the Royal Hospital Saturday 13th October 10.30am school and along Holbrook Creek with fine views of the River Stour. Led by Daphne Turner- 4.5 miles - 2 hrs Stutton Community Hall and Village shop - walk down to Stutton Creek and along the banks of the Wednesday 14th November 10am River Stour and back into Stutton via footpaths. Led by Alison Monk - 2 hrs Flatford Mill/National Trust Café - a circular walk th from Flatford to Stratford St Mary and return - taking Wednesday 12 December 10am in views of the countryside and walking along the banks of the River Stour. Led by Chris Hunt - 2.5 hrs River Stour Festival Working Together .
