FORTH PORTS LIMITED No: NtM 19 of 2021 8th April 2021 NOTICE TO MARINERS FIRTH OF FORTH LARGE VESSEL TRANSFER OPERATION & MOVEMENT Mariners are advised that an operation involving the ‘Pioneering Spirit’ and ‘Iron Lady’ barge is scheduled to take place on the Forth on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April 2021. ‘Pioneering Spirit’, a construction vessel is scheduled to transfer its cargo of a topside drilling platform to cargo barge, ‘Iron Lady’. This will take place in the Outer Forth in at 56° 05’N, 002° 57.0’W at 1800 on Saturday 10th April and is expected to take 3 to 4 hours to complete the transfer. Both vessels will remain in this position until the morning of Sunday 11th April. At 0930 on Sunday 11th April, the Iron lady will towed from the Pioneering Spirit to Port of Rosyth by tugs ‘En Avant 30’, ‘Craigleith’, ‘Inchcolm’ and ‘Fidra’. The transit from transfer location to Rosyth is expected to take 7 hours. The ‘Iron Lady’ will be moored at the Port of Rosyth for approximately six weeks, after which it is scheduled depart for the Energy Park Fife in Methil where its cargo will be unloaded prior to its decommissioning. At all times the Pioneering Spirit and Iron Lady will have an exclusion zone of 0.5nm in place which will be enforced by guard vessel ‘St Martin’ or ‘Agility’. No vessel shall pass the Iron Lady barge between No.9 main channel buoy and No.15 main channel buoy. Traffic restrictions will be in place and managed by Forth & Tay Navigation who can be contacted on VHF Ch.71.
